This has been my experience as well. Then the second there's more than a single stun or blind on the enemy team, I just lose, as there's nothing I can do. I play safe, team just fucking dies around me. I be aggressive, I'm the first to die because lolnomobilityorselfdefense. Like Gul'dan has his Life Leech, and that helps give him all the survivability he needs in the event he needs some. Zul'jin has to sit there and channel his but can't take damage, and because so many heroes in this game now have mobility and shit now, when you engage into something as Zul'jin, you're engaged until the end the majority of the time.

Sonya actually isnt all that terrible, just has some pretty glaring weaknesses, namely her lack of escape. She's kinda like a slightly beefier, more easily hit Illidan with great sustained damage from her W. Her E is pretty garbage though.

In most situations, its nearly the same if not better. You can get twice the range on it and go over walls without retarded collision interactions. Its only really worse if you have to get directly to the backline through enemies, which Varian cant do anyways because charge's range is too short. All of this assuming you can consistently land the Q.

Sonya as she is should straight up be taken out of the game. Anything she is good at is done better by someone else in every section of the game. Honestly, I'm all for buffing heroes, but they should not have added a mechanic to Artanis at all. That's too drastic of a change, and his playstyle changed immensely because of it. Same shit they pulled with Nova where they started trying to push an all Snipe build where you can't use Snipe on anything but heroes or else you lose stacks. I don't get what's with them and forcing a particular playstyle on heroes when that wasn't how they played to begin with.

Same with Nazeebo and his spiders, they made him so much more spider-centric with his rework, whereas before his effectiveness felt more spread out amongst all three of his abilities.

Amp is good during teamfights but proper ability usage can make up for that. Time your cc so you always have something to use to keep yourself from exploding.

The dude has a healthpool equatable to Cho'gall when you take his quest, if you grab his Devour quest and amped healing he will never die unless you get yourself caught out.
Bile with the 20 upgrade plays even more into these talents with even more healing and movespeed, you can run circles around the enemy team nearly uncontested.

The thing is he doesn't have the damage output or hard cc of other tanks, and his huge hitbox makes him a skillshot magnet and a rather cumbersome teammate to be near if you don't read his movements.
Not to mention he's particularly weak to Tychus/Raynor, who are ever popular.

I play a lot of ETC in HL but I still have trouble grasping his talents.
My typical talent tree looks like
Prog Rock
Speed Metal
Echo pedal/Hammer-on depending on map
Mosh Pit
Face Smelt
Aggressive Shredding (occasionally Imposing presence against heavy aa)
Bolt

I'll take Stage dive against teams with more stun/knockback than mosh can handle, and anytime I take dive I take the 20 upgrade, the only time I ever take Death Metal is when I just can't stay alive and we somehow make it to 20.

When is it acceptable to take the w talents?

Is Block Party good even when they only have 2 aaers, or does the healing from Prog Rock almost always surpass it?

You get insane lock down, do decent damage because you no longer have the attack speed slow especially with high kings quest and get good sustain out of second wind because of the buff to taunt. With your health and parry you also become really fucking hard to kill.

The problem with Varian is until he gets his ult he's pretty shit, so use your charge to get pick offs but don't overextend for it and just play for 10.

Always take lions maw, fury is only good for soloing camps and if you want to take camps get a different hero.
Victory Rush is amazing, it provides great sustain and you don't have to hit something 10 tens for it to work.
Lions maw does great damage and it's slow is fucking nuts.
Taking protection is an alright move when the enemy team has a ton of burst, i.e. nova li-ming kt, since your cc with lion's maw and taunt is alright pretty nasty,
If you don't take charge cooldown even bothering with Juggernaut is a bad move.
Mortal strike is only reliable when you take it with heroic strike cooldown (fury, that weird parry talent at 1 that you shouldn't take because you have fucking Lion's maw)
taunt upgrade at 20 is situational, if you find your team not dying but also not killing anything it's fine, otherwise banner if you have two healers or shout.
If you took CS or for some god forsaken reason fury, then you oughta take the upgrade at 20.

Without the slow on attack High King's Quest gets more value for Varian in every build. Especially Tank because you are always in the middle of a fight. The added attack once you complete the quest gives you really good damage, and Lion's Maw is only good for the slow which you really don't need with your already insane lockdown. I'd only take Lion's Maw if you didn't take the stun.

Second Wind gives you really good healing even without Fury because your attacks are no longer slowed. Especially since you can't control when Victory Rush heals you it just goes off. Second Wind lets you stay in the fight longer and gives you good sustain. Taunt Varian is like a fucking bruiser with insane lockdown if played right.

That's how all the maps are. There is no Infernal Shrine location or Battlefield of Eternity in D3, but no one would say they aren't Diablo maps. SDame thing applies to everywhere else. The whole point of the Nexus is that there are no 1:1 translations for battlegrounds. Art style dictates everything, and most maps are themed to fit warcraft styling.
