ok here it goes. so what i heard is shirogane really was more of a fan of the danganronpa characters themselves and wanted to be just like them even dressing up as them but was too boring and normal. she was desperate and the producers took advantage of her in "various ways" like doing sexual things with them and even doing it with their biggest star amami. because of this, the part of her that hated it came out and truly wanted to kill amami for what he had done to her. she wanted a big part on the show but did terrible things she regretted and hated to get there and shows her regrets before she died. the real shirogane came back at the end.

Ouma has the best visual design of any character in the series but the fucking reality show twist and how he genuinely doesn't have much in terms of motivation makes it so I don't actually like him that much. I was really hoping for him to be important before the game came out and was hoping to romance him as Kaede, but from what I've seen as the spoilers, they basically failed on him.

Hell, it doesn't look like there's much I can do to pretend he's a better character than he was. In Homestuck, there's a character similar to Ouma that was introduced about a third of the way through and that I similarly liked a lot, and even though he ended up being generally contemptible and was eventually killed off, there were enough ambiguous points concerning his character that let me pretend the actually was a good character if I looked at it in the right way, even though the author clearly had a different look at him in mind. But it doesn't seem like that will be possible for Ouma.

I think people are looking for a story in Ouma when he isn't so much a character to be developed as he is an oppositional force to the protagonists. He's not Komaeda; he's Junko.

Junko's appeal is the crazy shit she does and the mark she makes on the other characters/the world around them. People didn't like Junko for her character development (she never changed, once, and even dying was to obtain despair), they liked her for the path of destruction and despair she left for everyone else.

Same goes with Ouma. He was deliberately engineered to be this way. You could argue that he does develop and change his character in a negative way, going from sadistically childish to fully psychopathic over the course of the killing game by realizing how great despair felt, but his purpose is to stay crazy, fuck shit up and do it in an entertaining manner.

If he actually does get his memories back towards the end, it makes him a bit tragic, but not in the sense that it gives justification to his actions. He's a pawn in the world of NDRV3 to show how fucked up the world itself is by putting him into this role.

But he does. As far as he's concerned, he does fuck up people for his own sake and their despair by his actions. No one is telling him or forcing him to do this- the only thing the producers did was give him the ability to do so in the first place. It's really no different than Junko being born with despair in the end. Both of them are in control of their actions, regardless of what foundations they were built upon or whether or not they were artificial. He's as much of a pawn of the producers as Izuru was to HPA: somewhere in the middle.

V3's weird metafiction twist makes this hard, but he's both unrestrained by anyone in the killing game (besides the obvious physical opposition and dying) and also bound by the narrative to be a psycho villain and ahhh, this is it's hard to explain. He's my favorite character in the game, but I know there are characters in the cast that are better characters in terms of actually being developed. If that makes sense.

If it makes you feel any better, the charity reason for his joining of the game could've been a lie. After losing his friends and family, he could've joined because he fell into despair and wanted to become the SHSL version of it. We don't know.
