I've seen some people (trying to sell Adachi or trying to bash Goro, either way) say that Adachi had a lower body count, he was a much better antagonist because the game didn't try to give him a "complex motive", etc.

I personally felt Adachi was much, much worse than Goro and would have wrecked more havoc if he had Goro's powers. He killed two women because they won't sleep with him, and one of them knowing she'd die. Goro killed people and it's wrong for sure, but he didn't have that kind of intention to kill, and that made a huge difference for me between Adachi and Goro.

I think that's the key point. Adachi killed just because he was a entitled piece of shit that had no respect for anything that wasn't his own well-being. He was also more realistic as evil person, which makes it even worse.

Goro is more a thing of putting effort in the wrong thing, his sad past is not an excuse, but it's an explanation that can make you pity him to an extent. His killings were more of a fictional classic, about making sacrifices to reach a goal.

Also in the end Adachi is just defeated, he never repented in the slightest, instead acted like a child like he was a misogynist sociopath because he had a shitty job. Because nobody but him has that. Meanwhile, Goro kills himself which is like the most honorable way for nips to take responsibility for their mistakes.

Goro's penalty is more complicated. He did kill a lot of people, but he was a minor and did it under the orders of an adult. There is no evidence for his crimes because Mementos and palaces don't exist anymore, but there is evidence for Shidou's because he made a business of shellfying people. Goro would probably own up to his crimes if he was alive though, and that would get him jail time or at least some kind of internment.

They didn't NEED his help - at best you can make a point that they'd rather work with him than have him get in their way again, since Anne says that, but that requires ignoring everything else in that set of scenes. As for repercussions, remember that he's a minor and his actions were ordered by Shidou. Even if he was tried, both of those factors would likely lead to a lessened sentence, and while there's been attempts to repeal the "minors can't be given the death penalty" thing for particularly heinous crimes, the circumstances mean this wouldn't be the case here (and it's likely that post-reforming, Shidou would take the blame even if Goro confessed). Additionally, because of the palace and the Isekai Navi not existing anymore, it's impossible to prove he could've been the perpetrator for the shellification and berserk incidents. At best, they'd have to rely on Joker's or Goro's testimony (as with Shidou), but just that wouldn't be enough to convict him, especially when the primary blame for those incidents is on the mastermind behind them AKA Shidou (who can be tied to the incidents far more easily, due to offering that as a service for people in exchange for their help and support, as well as having a clearer connection to a lot of the victims).

I get that you aren't fond of him for understandable reasons, and that's fine. But given what the game shows regarding his actions and the surrounding factors, as well as how Japan's judicial system works (both as seen in-game and IRL), things wouldn't pan out that way for him if Atlus decides to bring him back.

Even if he did have the time, the method for reforming someone isn't something anyone could figure out just by experimenting. He openly admits that there's no way he could've figured it when Morgana mentions it, and it's easy to see why - you need to fulfill very specific conditions to get the treasure to manifest (and there's no reason to assume that weird mass you can see in palaces CAN manifest as an object somehow), there's only a very short timeframe where it's possible to take the treasure after it manifests and you don't get a second shot if you fail, and if you mess the process up (say, if the core manifests as more than just the desire corrupting them, and you take that), you'd just shellify that person.
