There are a few major meta builds in team matches. Laser cannon tanks, sniper cannon tanks, physical blade RJs, dual battle rifle mids. You mostly only see these in conquest mode though, and by long-established teams that have worked this strategy down to a science for each map.

But the fact is, by now, if you fight 1v1 against someone they have already seen all the meta shit and already know how to counter it, so there's no true 'meta'. The 'meta' becomes "whatever works ideally against what you think your opponent will bring" because using the right weapon is always better than using the best weapon.

Meta defense distributions are still:

1505 / 1882 / KE
1111 / 2040 / 2200 / 2350 CE
801 / 1091 / 1240 / 1500 / 2500 TE

though you can always get away with running more wild defenses if you focus on some specific strategy like physical blades.

Piles are not really that good anymore because people can actually see them coming and will bait you. Physical blades have infinite ammo and do about the same damage when used on quad legs, and get a MASSIVE hitbox increase when paired with a grind blade or mass blade.

Oh, also KE shields are a major part of the International server meta. They are a complete shutdown of sniper builds, and since CE weapons have poor range, you need to either rush in close or use TE weapons to break the shields. So if you run KE, you need to make sure your bay weapons can break shields easily.

3 of the things you mentioned are not really meta at all desu. Sniper tanks require hitting gud, LC tank is bad outside of a team that can support it very well and even then it's super vulnerable to rushdown and makes for an easy target to snowball into a 4v3. BR midweight is uncommon and you see 3BR heavies far more often. If you had said shotgun/3BR mid I would have given you that though. Even though I rarely see it for some reason.
Also your defense thresholds are off. 801 TE doesn't block all PMGs, it's 2036 CE to block 3BR, etc. And also you neglected mentioning recoil resist which is kinda important considering your 2300CE Aoi heavy will still get eaten by stagger tools paired with 3BR thanks to that 20% defense drop and Aoi having no RR.

Also phys blades on a quad is a gimmick build that is not going to hit anyone with a brain, equal skill levels and an AC that can wallclimb unless they get a flank or it's a flat map. The UW also doesn't increase hitbox size, just increases damage. It increases the speed of the kick hitbox though

I admit I haven't played that actively in a while, but are you talking about INT or JP? I was talking about JP team matches, I almost never see a JP team without at least one tank, and no one there runs shotgun / 3BR mids. Those are only on INT.

First TE break was 833, I just forgot the number, you're right about that. I think 2040 covers the best tracking CE medium missiles (or is it 2050?). The rest you are correct about.

I was talking about INT, JP has a more tangible meta thanks to more activity. The tanks you're seeing are rarely gonna be laser tanks though. I think the lack of shotgun 3BR cones from there being less things in that defense range, but that doesn't make the strat any less legitimate. I also feel like nips prefer laser speed.
The true terror on both servers is a team with burst damage weaponry that knows how to focus their fire. Coordination means you can pick out the most susceptible enemy and evaporate their AC, and from there it's basically gg.

My computer automatically installed windows 10 without my consent from windows 7. I wasn't wanting to upgrade at all but I got used to the new setup and it really sped up my computer, just make sure that you turn off the datamining stuff during the installation process. It also emulates perfectly fine in windows 10, I played Front Mission 4 & 5 and Monster Rancher 4 recently.

A highly skilled NEXT pilot (one of the top 10) is coming to wreck your corporation's shit. You have an insanely huge amount of funding to set up your defenses to ward off the attack, but you're not allowed to hire another NEXT to participate in the defense. Everything else is fair game.

What weapons and strategies do you use to defeat the NEXT? Keep in mind, this guy (pic related) is funding your operation so you can go nuts. But you have to pay him back (with interest), so you want to devise a usable strategy that also isn't too expensive.

Kojima generators/cannons that make sure that their PA is down, 3 teams of Silent Avalance, who will only pop up out of the snow when the AC is surrounded, as well as ECM makers.

Then cabracan's drones. Tons of them. As many of them as we can afford. Just keep sending them after the NEXT, non stop.

They will have no radar, no PA, and no way to avoid damage, eventually they will succumb. A next can easily avoid any super weapon and kill any giant monster, but even the best pilot can't avoid all damage.

Sure, I'll try to sum up ~95% of the stuff you see on JP.

Kumo and SR LRJs are on top of the food chain, with the latter dishing out low damage, but having absurd survivability. They're not necessarily part of every team composition, though. Next up are Sawa quads, who just shit on anything fast/with lower than 1870 KE defense. You can substitute those with a Sawa HBP, depending on the map, just so you don't get smashed by gat+plasma missile quads. Those usually go together with 1/2 Large Missile Podenka HBPs, supported by an MBP with single/dual mdl. 3 subs. The dual subbed versions usually hold a SG+3BR combo; the single subbed ones have Podenkas on 199 stability arms. If the HBP is feeling confident in his lock-on capabilities, the MBP can just go with a CIWS, though. Then there's a bunch of builds which are less commonly used, due to being too specific/suboptimal/too risky to hire. Gat+Plasma quads only really excel against Sawa quads. Podenka+VTF quads shit on tanks and HBPs, but get stomped by Sawa quads. Heat Cannon WAs are decent, but have less ammo/DPS than the Podenka+Missiles combo. As for tanks, you usually see the AC/AC+HC combo, with the occasional LC tank in the mix. Good DPS, but once you've got some permagliding HBP up your ass, you're in deep shit, so you better have some good kicking skills. Goes doubly so for LC tanks. Some players use PG+SG+CIWS LBPs, but those can't really do anything those other builds can't do just as well. Piles, SC/Howie tanks and Kick ACs, you only see on players who are known for using that type of AC anyway; too high risk for too little reward for most teams. Barely anyone uses KE rifles and HRJs Kumo quads got out of fashion after the meta switched from HBP Strek gangbangs to even more floaty quads.

Get a fuck tonne of drones and strap some sort of en explosives to them. Kamikazee the next with them. Even if they shoot down the drones, they'll eventually get caught in the explosion. Then silent avalanche pops out and takes shots while the PA armour is down. If they manage to make it to the base, we have a fuck tonne of missiles and turrets. We'll take the next down with a sheer volume of fire power.
Finally, the base has a kojima reactor hidden in it. If the NEXT makes it to the base, we overload it and cause a huge kojima explosion. Meanwhile, I've already evacuated out an underground tunnel.

What kills Unsung is the absolutely horrible AI, since he barely ever uses those weapons. The missiles are shit, though I think the tracking was a lot better in the first regulation. The legs seemed to get nerfed in later regs too.

I think that's because of how From does their AI. Heavies are associated with bad pilots because the AIs all have the same movement and tracking, but vary mostly in how good their reaction time dodging or turning is. Heavies, even at high dodging, are still pretty easy to hit.

Heavies in the hands of a good human though are always a terrifying threat because they can be less aggressive than the AI is and avoid being out-turned.

This kind of depends on the game in question since they have different mechanics in each gen. I'll just assume you're asking about the current gen games though.

In 4/FA the difference is notable but you'll still go pretty fast in a midweight as long as you don't have any HUEG weapons on your back or anything. Pure blades makes for a pretty light build, so you can get away with running a midweight if you really wanted to. I'd suggest using mostly light parts and maybe throwing in one or two middleweight parts on the side if you really want a beefier build.

For V/VD, middleweight units can go pretty fast if you're good at wall jumping and glide boosting, and some of the medium legs are pretty much equal to and sometimes entirely better than lightweight legs, though you'll want to match them with lightweight parts in order to get the full effect of it. You need to be a bit more careful in the V gen though due to how defenses work. Faster builds are better at trying to avoid damage entirely, so you don't want to slow yourself down too much with middleweight parts if you're good enough at maneuvering to go really fast.

Just try out different configurations and see what feels right for you.

It really depends on the game, but weight "class" is definitely not the determining factor in speed. Boosters, enemy weapon types, accelleration, weight cap, en recov/cap, turning, etc. all have to be taken into consideration. There's no way to just make your AC "faster" across the board.

You can make a heavyweight in most games that is as fast / faster in raw speed than some lightweights. But to do that, you have to compromise somewhere else. To know exactly what the compromise is, you have to look at your defenses and other stats.

In ACNX through ACLR, the amount of unused weight cap also adds to your speed, so midweight legs are the fastest usually, but lightweight legs (despite being slower) have much faster turning and walking speeds. They also accelerate quicker.

In Armored Core V and VD, because defense is threshold based, if the enemy is using a bunch of 1500 KE weapons, you might gain very little from having higher than 1500 KE defense. So often, heavyweights or midweights don't really have higher defense in one area than lightweights, but they have fewer weaknesses with sometimes higher AP.

In AC4 and FA, because of quick turning and quick boosting, heavies can be as "fast" as lightweights in terns of positioning, but are much slower when it comes to covering ground or range, but they have a much higher defense and PA durability.

It's never a simple trade off, and that's what makes these games great.

Which game?

Ideally you want to pair your weapons and frame parts so that they work well together. So if you're a sniper, focus on things like raw forward / backward speed so you can stay away while firing. If you're using machine guns, focus on turning speed. For melee, focus on acceleration and precision.

Then decide how to compensate for any weaknesses. A lightweight leg set that uses melee weapons might have enough extra weight cap that it can equip midweight core, head, and arms, giving it mid-weight level defense without losing speed. But a lightweight that uses laser rifles might need to equip only lightweight parts to fit them on the weight cap.

Also, if you're fighting people that are only using ballistic weapons, you could focus on ballistic defense. This might let you get mid-weight level defenses without a weight penalty.

In terms of trade-offs, here is an oversimplification:

Light on high power is the fastest
Mid on high power = Light on high accel
Heavy on high power = mid on high accel
Heavy on high accel is the slowest

You can move up a weight class by equipping lightweight weapons (mid with light weapons = light with mid weight weapons).

High accel gives you longer glide boost, quicker high boost, and more movement precision. High power gives you longer jumps and higher top speed.

Light = KE, TE, or CE. Pick 1 defense. You will be weak to the other 2.
Mid = KE, TE, or CE. Pick 2 defenses. You will be weak to the other 1.
Heavy = Pick 2. You won't have many obvious weaknesses.
Tanks = You will be near-invulnerable to 1 or 2 damage types, with no obvious weaknesses.

You could also double-down on one defense and gain really high defense against most weapons in that category, so a heavy could have 1 weakness and 1 near-invulnerability to a class.

Quads hover in the air the longest, so a light quad is the best fast aerial AC.

The charts in the garage customization page show you both your speed over time (top chart) and your damage vs attack power (bottom chart). Use that information to your advantage to customize against the enemy.

Lightweight is very situational if you're mentioning bipeds. The lightweight reverse joint gives you much more armour and the Fisherman LRJ is so good compared to other Medium.

Lightweight bipeds have VERY SHITTY stability, and if you're not careful picking the right head unit, you probably end up insta-staggered by full power rifles or a sneeze. They have very good turning and speed, but turning speeds are not very advantageous since you can just drift to turn quick. You might need to couple it up with fast lock FCS and some high impact hit and run weapons like shotguns, piles you name it. Or even a sniper rifle ( but usually that goes for homosniper LRJ builds)

Although I know certain edgelord who loves using Nowakis.

MBP (Medium bipeds) gives you the most balanced stats in terms of mobility. They are kings when it comes to flatlands medium range combat, terrain makes it important to choose which legs you're going for.


In terms of boosters, just avoid Efficient boosters unless you're trying to build funny meme like Permaglide Plasma shower on High Caps.

AC4/FA aren't really faster than other AC games, and are a lot slower than ACLR or ACVD. They -feel- faster because your speed relative to the environment is higher. Your accelleration and speed relative to other enemies (because of range and size differences) are smaller. So it feels faster when you're moving forward but it's slower when you're making precise movements or maneuvers.

AC4/FA is more like a spiritual successor to Murakumo: Renegade Mech Pursuit than an AC game, in my opinion.

Controllers weren't as ubiquitous and Japanese publishers had no reason to port their games to a platform that ~1-2% of their customers use. PC gaming is still very niche in Japan and all the 'fast' anime style mech games are purely console only. It wasn't until recently that controllers, development ease, and feedback on PC got good enough to allow for Japanese publishers to start making PC games.

I had to go back and re-do the AP/Def/weight numbers because of the min-max values contributing to tuning, so first draft of them hadsome broken tuning possibilities (leg parts def was high enough that you couldn't tune them for defense, but other parts had low defense so they could be tuned really high even on heavy parts).

I've also figured out that EO core range is not a value stored like other stats, which makes me think the game stores its range values in some other format, which I haven't figured out yet.

I'll be uploading some min-max testing showing the slowest and fastest builds using different boosters to test movement next.

Except Titanfall is exactly what he's complaining about. Even the devs refuse to call it a "mech game" because they're afraid of the connotations, and mechanically it's almost entirely a first person shooter. If games like Titanfall are the only "good" mech games anymore, then developers will be convinced that in order to make a mech game, they -have- to make it a first person shooter or else it won't sell.

The only possible mech games to make right now are either "Gundam" which won't sell in the west, or "FPS but with power suits". We don't need "West" and "East' mech games to unite. We need a single mech game to show an easy-to-develop-for formula that doesn't fit those two stereotypes. This shows validation for the market and reduces the risk that publishers take when approving new games. Until that happens, publishers and studios will never approach anything with the word "mech" on it unless the devs can design it as a different game and sell it to a different audience, like Titanfall.

In the west, the only established genre segmentation for mech games are free to play / MMOs like Hawken or MWO. And most of them (like MAV and Heavy Gear Assault) are early access dumpster fires being made by devs way in over their head, because major producers won't touch the genre- for good reason. There's no proof that anyone wants mech games, but tons of proof that people like MMOs, Hack and Slash, and FPS.

The good news is that there is a new single player Mechwarrior game and a new turn based Battletech game coming out, on top of a new Armored Core, which might provide publishers with better understanding of the market.

The question for me is always:
"What can you do in a mech that plays differently from any other genre?"

ZoE/Gundam: Sci-fi melee combat in space with lots of support weapons
Armored Core: Immersive customization of body parts and repair costs for taking damage.
Mechwarrior: squad-based tank combat with many different classes and weapons.

Titanfall: ..basic FPS gameplay... but.we replaced killstreak bonuses with power suits!


If you replaced the mechs in those games with traditional tanks, helicopters, space ships, etc. it would change the gameplay of the first three but NOT change the gameplay of Titanfall. Mechwarrior would change the least, but the lack of diversity and walking movement would change it enough to no longer be a mech game. But Titanfall would play pretty much identically.

A major problem is that they blew all their marketing on AC4 and AC5, leaving none for For Answer and Verdict Day. For answer sold well in Japan but mediocre in the US, Verdict Day sold poorly across the board despite getting great reviews (for an AC game).

I actually kinda like the Pailsen Files OP, if only for the depiction of the ATs as Gilgamesh's equivalent to the Imperial fucking Guard as well as the overall military heavy demonstration from both the audio and visual side of it. Some parts of that series are the definition of fucking "meh" though.

Never played a Persona game before (I do want to though) but Titanfall 2 is mecha, parkour, and fast (the latter two of which is more easily done on PC as I assume you're asking whether or not to get one of the two on the PS4).

Word of warning if you go for Titanfall 2 on consoles though, I heard that the aim assist is fucked up and makes a lot of weapons stupid to fight against, like semi-automatics and the Hemlok, which is the only infantry burst-fire weapon in existence in that game. There's some balance issues that both PCs and consoles have to deal with like Devotion/DMR + A-WALL faggots as well as the occasional Tonestacks but I imagine that all of these will be balanced again soon considering how much people are bitching about them. There's also a noticeable quirk in map design in some of the maps that just doesn't feel right to me in 2, but hopefully that will be remedied soon as they say they're going to import more Tiddyfall 1 maps.

All that said, it's still a fucking top notch shooter and a damn fine mecha game with a kickass (but short) campaign full of /m/ tropes and even a plot device that you might not expect for a game like this, as well as a great AI Titan buddy that actually feels like a genuine presence by your side. Titan Pilot and Infantry Pilot gameplay blend so seamlessly that I don't know which one I prefer more: going fast in the air and nailing faggots with the equivalent of a Spinfusor from Tribes, or being in a giant fucking robot and stomping on slows while dueling rival Titans until I can fucking Getter Beam them.

desu i went through the same thing. MechWarrior and stuff is fine and i play them on occasion if i have nothing else or want to have simulator like gameplay but i greatly prefer more humanoid robots with upscaled weapons like rifles over the whole chickenwalker with built-in weapon arms walking tank kind of shit. I saw the Titanfall trailer and thought "eh, i'd rather play an actual shooter" but then i actually got my hands on a used copy and I loved it. It's great because it strikes like a sort of middle ground between the two regional design philosophies. gameplay wise the Titans, except for Tone, don't feel like killstreak at all considering good pilots are still on equal ground if they know a thing or two about vertical movement, but that can work both ways so i guess that's why some people see it akin to killstreaks. it sure as hell isn't if you're relatively skilled though.

the only thing I'm still not used to is setting-wise, how pilots and titans are treated and how expendable they are despite their superior training and presumably equipment as well. maybe that's something that is left for the future but i digress.

Yeah i was trying to think of maybe how to make it work, like making them be found in those deep underground kojima research facilities and they would fire supervelocity needles like hydralisks, so that you'd have to be constantly dodging or some shit, or just making them a swarm-type enemy like the cabracan AF drones. I don't think anyone is implying that Titanfall 2 is a bad game. I can definitely understand why people like it. It's just that some people are burned from the concept of mechs being a "shameful thing" like in that interview. I know you say the guy is being taken out of context, but he really should've been a little more considerate to the very audience he was pandering to. Second, like it's been said before, I would've preferred it without being another shooter, and with auto-aim no less. Put it on the PC and require me to actually aim, and I'd definitely give it more of a try. Third, I'm still angry at them for having the gall to release Titanfall 1 at full price without even a singleplayer campaign. Just the nerve of that is infuriating. TiFA 2 is on PC though, and it's primarily where my experience with it and the first one comes from. No autoaim on PC, it's entirely dependent on your ability with a mouse. Hell, the only reason I picked up TiFA 2 was because it was half off in the holiday season. I liked the original Titanfall, but not enough to justify spending $60 on the sequel even if it did have a campaign, because like you, I was sorta disappointed with how they handled it in the first one.

If a Free Weekend trial ever comes up again, you should give it a whirl as it'll be on all platforms. Unfortunately on PC, it uses Origin, but I don't have too much of a problem with its modern version except for its atrocious in-game UI but I don't think most people have ever tried to seriously use it for anything other than checking the time and inviting friends to games.

I do think that those guys in that interview should have chosen their words a lot more carefully, but still, I don't think they were trying to pander to us dedicated /m/fanboys during that whole charade. Regarding that, I think for the first game they were just trying to generate as much as buzz as possible due to it being an entirely unknown and brand new IP, while trying to whole-sale the game to the average western shooter demographic, who as mentioned by >>165922639 think of stuff like Madcats and Starcraft Goliaths when you bring up the word "Mech", rather than more humanoid-like mecha such as ACs or Mobile Suits. But yeah I think we only truly disagree on it being a shooter, which I can understand. The whole genre has been maintaining a shitty reputation that has only been recently surpassed by MOBAs in how samey-samey each iteration of sequel/series becomes and how cancerous their communities are, and I've pretty much stopped playing most of them years ago, at least not at the same intensity that I once did. Overwatch - which I bought due to the constant recommendation from a group of friends and now kind of regret, and Titanfall 2 - are the only shooters of 2016 that I bothered with.

I personally don't really care what form a game with mech(a) takes, as long as it has a pilotable giant robot that can stomp or shoot at stuff I'm cool with it. A symptom of a lack of AC6, surely. In TiFA 2's case it also helps that I greatly enjoy its movement system to get around from Point A to Point B. Slidehopping and wallrunning is the shit, man.

There's no "upgrading" in AC4. All the starting parts are good, it just depends on how you combine them and specialize. Even weapons aren't true "upgrades", higher damage weapons always come with downsides that might make them not worth using on a certain build.

ACs are more than the sum of the parts. Think of it more like "are all my parts complementing each other effectively?" To make your AC stronger, tweak and combine parts that work well together.

Average is tricky, because the lengths vary wildly and it also depends on how completely you want to play each game. Data transfer also speeds things along.
Phantasma is pretty short. Missions will take you a few hours. Arena might take you about the same amount of time if you want to beat it.
Arena is just slightly longer than Phantasma. However, disc two has, like, a dozen arenas and they will take a long time to finish.
Another Age is just a massive pile of missions dumped into one game. It's going to take quite a while even with data transfer from 2.
Silent Line isn't much longer than 3 unless you're dead set on getting 100%, because there are a ton of weapons hidden in the game and a lot of them have really nasty and really dumb unlock requirements for what is literally a color swap and two stat changes.
Nexus is a main entry, you weren't skipping that anyway.
Formula Front can be pretty lengthy. It's weird. It's just an arena mode, but the game's gimmick is that it's about programming an AC to fight as a spectator sport. You can pilot the AC yourself if you want, but I hope you're emulating because PSP controls are really bad.
Last Raven is the best game in the series. It's also the hardest and it has six endings. You might be at it for a while.

So you have a few basic lines.

Nexus>NB>LR
In each line, data transfer will let you move your parts and I think your saved ACs from one game to another that's further down the line. So you can take data from Nexus to Last Raven, but not from Last Raven to Ninebreaker. What this means is not having to repurchase/unlock parts you already got and you get to start the game with some of the best tools in your arsenal.
Now, there's a data transfer from 4 to FA, but it only transfers your saved schematics.
There's also a transfer from V to VD, which sends your parts and schematics, but due to the way the tuning system was changed, all the transferred parts will have base stats and all your extras (in case you have 30 Moonlights or something) will disappear.

I have no idea how emulators will handle that.

I dropped the output of all the gens in general as well. Lotus is lighter because it has really low output.

Here are all the provisional numbers.

Lotus is light, but the output is low enough that in order to use it with the same recov speed as a heavy generator, you have to use a lower power /heavier booster, negating the lower weight. However, Lotus is really good if you want to make a low-recovery build with low speed but excellent cooling, because it's low recov means low cal value too.

Weight increases total cap (redzone + blue zone). The ratio is determined by the E ratio value. I tried to keep those pretty close to the originals (lotus has a high E ratio but still low overall cap).

There's a few little things that I will change when translating these into the game, mostly in the Random Variables used to randomize the formulas slightly. That way Orchid is heavier than Kujaku. The random variables change every time you edit something in excel, so I'll find a random set that still fits with the spirit of the parts (orchid is heaviest, G69 is lightest, etc.), but this gives you an idea about how the formulas balance it out anyway.

Not all chiropractors are the same. The word "chiropractor" referred specifically to an oudated technique of spinal adjustment that is completely false and not supported by science.

However, it's generally now being used to refer to anyone who does physical therapy for nerve-related problems, often with treatments that ARE backed by science. The problem is that the two get mixed up a lot.

Go find a doctor that can do procedures to fix nerve issues without surgery. If that happens to be a chiropractor, sure. If they want to do certain treatments that you can't find a scientific basis behind, then don't let them do them.

From what I remember, you can only use one of those, and you have to make sure any traces of the others aren't anywhere near your computer (software conflict issue). Also, I'd avoid motionjoy. Had bad experiences with it.

On another note, did you download the Xbox360 controller drivers? I recall hearing that the Ps3 doesn't have official drivers, so you need to download the xbox controller driver, so SCPserver can use that.

You need to use the Xinput wrapper. http://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-ScpToolkit-XInput-Wrapper-aka-ScpServer-Reloaded

It's completely different from better DS3. Try this out.

You have to uninstall everything else, then JUST use SCP.

Both BetterDS3 and Motioninjoy suck.

SCP doesn't work if you have motioninjoy installed. SCP is very easy to use, though. You can turn on SCP server to make it work automatically, and you can turn on SCP monitor to calibrate or change settings and such.
