I like learning about the world through the flavor text and dialogue too, though.

Whoever decided to flesh out XIV's world so well deserves a lot of respect. An engaging game world that's interesting and fun to think about is so huge for an MMO. I don't expect this kind of thing from an asian MMO.

The NPCs were there to be your party for those who wanted to do content, since it was extremely hard to find, you know, real players.

I believe using your squads to run older content is exactly their intention (as well as maybe getting your chocobo in too), they've talked about it in the past (allegedly) and it's a matter of implementing it at the right time to ensure it's not too soon but not far too late to avoid ded game for new players.

The design and lore for this game are excellent and I hope the game continues in its lifetime so I can visit more of these crazy places they've come up with. With Stormblood we'll have covered a fair bit of Eorzea but there's still two other continents nearby, chains of islands off its shores, and other lands like the New World where the Mamool Ja come from. I wanna see it all.
