Kirkhammer is great for the satisfying smashing and the feel of the attacks connecting on your transform attacks. It has real impact to it. If you want other good STR weapons, the Ludwig's Holy Blade and Whirligig are both good. You can get the LHB after the door to the Healing Church Workshop opens up. Pizza Cutter is DLC but worth. The Beast Cutter is also good fun, but again, DLC. If you don't mind pumping BLT, the Bloodletter is one of the most satisfying weapons in the game.

In tricked mode it is slow as hell but it is great because of the range. The tricked R2 attack has extreme range and will flatten just about anyone, especially on the second R2 in a row.

I expected tricked mode to have much higher stagger property, but it turns out it has about the same stagger as, say, Kirk sword mode R1.
And only the second R2 has flattening property, so you need to be able to land two R2 attacks in a row before the enemy reaches you/dodges. And the first R2 stagger is also pretty shit.
And every attack in any mode costs a fuckton of stamina too.

Wheel bros, I'm having a crisis of faith here.

At 36/22, shooting for 50/25 then eventually 50/50 after I do chalices my wheel fucking sucks. I got the mensis arcane gem, I took it to plus 9, and it doesn't do that good. My HMLS does comparable damage at +7 with all phys gems and my tonitrus with a couple +12% gems and the 16% arc gem outdoes the damage of the +9 wheel at +6, and it has only a slightly worse moveset.

Even going pure phys makes it seem a bit... underwhelming. Any tips? I was gonna go for nourishing gems and farm like hell eventually, does it fix the lackluster damage?

I'm not a Wheel guy but the Wheel when tricked gets a 30% reduction to its physical damage and big bonuses to its Arc damage. If you're using it tricked 36/22 is pretty terrible for it, whereas HMLS is mostly Phys in both forms with no bonuses or penalties, so at 36/22 it's right at home.

If you intend to use the Wheel tricked I suggest you stop leveling Str cold turkey and punt Arc to 50.

What's a fun weapon that's not the Saw Cleaver? It's my first time through BB (played every Souls game though).

The Saw Cleaver seems...a little too good to me, it feels cheesy/almost like easy mode. Other than that I've been using Ludwig's Holy Blade (think that's what it's called), but that's also getting a bit boring.

SKL scaling is irrelevent. What does affect it are bonuses.

When tricked Threaded Cane effectively gets a 15 SKL scaling gem added onto it, this adds onto Viscerals as well because that's just how weapon buffs work. The Canes base skill scaling has no effect.

Best visceral possible would be a +6 or tricked Cane using three 12% + 27% Poorman gems and all these visceral runes

It really depends on how did you distributed your points. On my build where I only dumped points to skill/vitality with blade of mercy I finished Cainhurst on level 40 with ease but only because I had vit/skill on 30ish and knew the area and the boss well.
But I think level 60 is safe to try cainhurst or just look what they say on wiki

His left-right-left-right swipe attacks are deceptively slow at winding up. He usually kills me in one counter hit with one of those.

I find him to be much easier to fight if you get in really close, then disable lock on so you can walk behind him easily, then just go nuts on his legs until you're out of stamina. You need to take him down fast because the longer you fight him the more chances he has to kill you; he's kinda like Darkbeast in that regard. Also he will get stunned like darkbeast if you keep hitting his legs and head. He is easily 10 times more dangerous at mid range than he is at point blank.

Once he is in his second form I think he is actually easier to deal with. Don't worry too much about the lava he leaks from his ass, just stick to him point blank on his right side (your left) and watch out for his arms. There is one one real attack he can easily hit you with from this position: a horizontal arm swipe. The red lava he barfs out is dangerous though

Unlike Dark Souls, each Bloodborne weapon is unique and equally viable with the right set up. Some are easier to use or build for than others, the Saw Spear is a fantastic weapon with a very good moveset, it's very much a utility weapon. It can carry you through the game no problem. It's the Skill version of the Saw Cleaver, which is more Strength-leaning.

There's a bunch of weapons to play around with, if you go 50str/25skl or vice versa, you'll have access to most weapons laying around and be able to use them all very decently.

One tip: do chalices interspersed with the main game. The gems you find in them will boost your damage greatly, they're an almost integral part of gameplay.
