Today's Star Citizen leaks courtesy of TheAgent.

backers will be able to "early access" (alpha test) the sqlude
this will be considered the "preview" release version (mvp I guess)
this will also count as the first episode
in order to alpha test other episodes/content, backers will have to pay
SQ42 is "tied deeply" into SC techwise/network
currently no plans for completely offline play
ships, skins and other cash shop items cross over game modes
"original vision" (internally called OV or CV?) candidate sometime in 2019 with promised sq42 feature list

and in wtf news

Quote

SQ42 is cancelled. It has become a series of single player missions folded directly into Star Citizen. This acts as the tutorial and early character creation. Any other news about Squadron 42 is fake or uninformed. This change has been considered since late-2015 and the final decision was made mid-2016.

and since this is all p dire have some more leaks from 100% confirmed sources

3.0 will release sometime in late Feb 2017
all 3 episodes of SQ42 will be out before citcon
4.0 is coming along very well, I've played it several times and its amazing
planetary landings in cities will make you want to jizz over a custom built star citizen branded hotas
procgen tech is unlike anything anyone has ever seen ever by anyone

if it were not for the enemy markers I would have been firing blind at the first guy, and probably would not have seen the second guy at all. if they get rid of the markers now they may change significantly how the game plays thanks to how much the players blend into the map.

they can't just replace it, people paid real money for it. there's probably some ass out there who has it as their only ship. they have to make it fly at the very least, my guess is they'll just shit out a 'first pass' and never fix it like so many others.

People can exchange it for any other ship of the same value. Just give them Aquila and they can CCU to whatever they want from there.

Hell, I suspect overwhelming majority of Redeemer owner has already CCU'd long time ago.

he made the Redeemer. he also used to lurk here.
>>
>>165298984
He shat out the Redeemer, which is of questionable quality regardless of whether you like the design, got hired by CIG and proceeded to fuck up the Vanguard and 85x. Now he finally quit and the remaining concepts are safe from his influence.
I feel bad for whatever the players of CD project's cyberpunk game will have to endure though.
>>
>>165299107
they're fine as a missile, but it seems like they just gave up on the original concept, which was that the shot out a pile of little needle minimissiles that softened up the shields before the main impact. they have absolutely never worked as advertised, but at least they were trying to figure it out. I'll be sad if they've said fuck it and made them just another S2.
>>
>>165299172
In Witcher 3, your sword wears out for basically no reason other that to keep you spending money on it. Senseless decisions, as shown in the Retaliator, are CDPR's bread and butter.
>>
>>165299172
Vanguard and 85x "problems" are a) completely subjective and b) entirely due to design, which he probably had no part in as a low level asset modeler. CR or Ben would have given the edict that so many Aegis ships be slapped together from Retaliator parts, and that the 85x get a makeover and become all rounded and sleek.

Do people still have the same concerns about the game being vaporware and/or a failure or have those been mitigated at all?

reality has done nothing to convince the most staunchly anti-kickstarter and fags looking for the next TORtanic. I hold some faint hope 3.0 with full procedural planets and a bit of an economy will change that, but they will always remain.

I sometimes drop into /v/ threads and post webms of gameplay, every time someone loses their mind when they realize /v/ has been lying to them about the state of the game; it usually gets equated with NMS. Last time it happened I even snagged a referral.

there's a fucked up tiered system where you can rent stuff and get so many uses out of it, buy it and get unlimited use out of it, (both of these currently still require paid restocking unless you respawn the whole ship) and in the future you will be able to buy components in game directly and apparently insure them, which should replace what we have now.

It works so fucking well. It's a little different than what I thought. You have to be less than 1000m so you can get a hit before they launch flares, and sometimes you only get one missile with a reload. But goddamn is it ever satisfying when you ripple fire on a Sabre and he sees an Aurora on his screen for the killer.

With a little practice, this is fucking devastation in a glass bottle. An Aurora can turn with a Hornet or Sabre if you use boost correctly. Just get behind someone for an easy missile shot and make them count.

Three problems I have found are you have to be really close to make it count, resupply is tricky if no one died close to you, and it's a meme tactic. Hornetfags and Sabrefags are not going to like getting put down by some asshole in an Aurora, so I wonder if it will last.
>>
>>165304174
No it's not. There just isn't the economy yet in the PU or Arena Commander.

That's good to hear.

I'm pretty excited about it. I've been desperately wanting a new space game with an expansive universe for years.

Star Citizen seems to be chugging along despite its hitches in development and the enormous scope of the project.

Elite Dangerous is nice in many ways, but also severely lacking in depth. I think they could improve the game greatly in time, but I'm worried they'll run out of money before then and collapse.

Once the markers are gone and it's the actual game, it will be tactical as fuck. With the markers and stupid grenades, it's just meh on its own.

>I think they could improve the game greatly in time

Elite is broken on a fundamental level by trying to please everyone. You can't have a multiplayer "MMO" game while also allowing people to play solo. You can't have meaningful exploration while making absolutely everything procedurally generated. You can't have players making an impact on the game while forbidding bare essentials like player trading and player-owned FUCKING ANYTHING other than just our ships. And you most certainly can't have an interesting story and, again, players impacting that story, when you pump out fanfiction-tier storytelling while railroading everyone into what you want regardless of what they do, with garbage like Powerplay and their worthless CGs that amount to "bring this many to the station" or "kill this many bad guys."

I wouldn't hold my breath on them collapsing from running out of money, either.

this sucks, what I would have done is make engineer's require only money to do an upgrade but make it longer and more interesting to do things with the engineers.

You start off with a basic discovered engineer when you get any of your pilot ranks to 3.

You fly to that engineer and they say they'll help you but you gotta do some jobs for them. You get a mini story line mission for them, that'd be like 20 missions long and could be anything from scrounging USS for salvage, to hunting down rivals, sabotaging their land bases, stealing goods from their convoys, picking them up some commodities or materials and what not. Just keep it fresh and hopefully voice acted, each engineer favors more of a certain type of mission. It'd be about 20 missions total, every 5 missions your blueprints get upgraded.

Reduce the number of engineers to like 5

1 for FSD, engines, powerplants, and distributors (this is the one you'd start with)

1 for shield generators, shield boosters, shield cell banks, armor and hull packages.

1 for basic weapons, pulse lasers, beam laser,s multi-cannons, burst lasers, frag cannons

1 for heavy weapons, rail guns, canons, plasma accelerators, missiles, torpedos

1 for other utility mounted modules, mining lasers, and non combat internals like refineries, racks, limpets.

When you finish each engineers story line you basically have full access to the best shit that engineer can make.

Modding, same roulette system but it costs you credits now to start a roll

150k for grade 1
500k for grade 2
820k for grade 3
1.1m for grade 4
1.5m for grade 5

I'd keep a similar favor system but make it more interesting, he does a favor for you for free once to tune your thing for an experimental upgrade. But if you wanted another favor like that you have to do a special favor mission. Each favor mission gives you 3 favors and you can only do one favor mission a day. You can request a favor on an previously engineered modules.

That's it, that fixes them.

Smuggling takes only 2 things.
Cargo space and jump range.
Get a ship with the jump and cargo you want (A rated ASPX is great at that) and jump system to system. The only part where smuggling differs from trading is station approach. Just line up while in supercruise with the planet the station's orbiting at your back, so to end up facing the mailslot out of supercruise.
Then silent run and boost through the mailslot. Try not to impale yourself on the back of the station.

You can have meaningful exploration in a procedural universe, but for that to happen the player needs agency in that universe. Currently there is no reason to do anything other than for the sake of doing it. This won't be fixed because the people who have frontier's ear are idiots who think introducing tasks and goals on a player or organizational level immediately turn the game into some offspring of call of duty and eve.

Ripple fire is when you release multiple payloads one after another, with one press.

In most modern aircraft you can set how many you want to fire and what interval between them.

Nah, what we have right now is just dumping all the missiles you have in a single launch.

Ripple fire is one after the other, with a defined interval.

Generally used on rockets.

well depends on the ship's firing mechanism; the constellation fires them all in a row rather than at the same time by necessity. I doubt we'll ever see precisely defined intervals for it

You don't need an Anaconda to enjoy the game.
Hi. Yes, this post is a response to that locked thread that is, in my opinion, a thinly veiled attempt to "get everything for free".

I completely disagree with the sentiment that there is a grind in this game.

If you're chasing these massive, expensive ships, then there's a few things I'd like to say.

Firstly, do you need an Anaconda? No, you don't. Every new player I get into the game, I have to spend a good half hour explaining why the Anaconda =/= enjoyment of the game. It's a reward. You're meant to earn it. If you didn't need to earn it then what would be the point of any of the game existing? What would be the point of RES's, missions, mining, exploration, etc.? That's right, there would be none.

Yet I know several players who just "want that Annie nao!!!"

As some of you may know, I'm not exactly inexperienced with this game in general. My forum profile alone should show you just how dedicated to the game that I am. I wouldn't make the best part of 8,000 posts if I didn't like the game at least.

So I think I'm qualified to say that ALL ships are enjoyable. In fact, after the Cobra Mk III, my absolute favourite, the next in the list is a Sidewinder! I love that thing! Closely followed by the Eagle. I've been playing Elite since GPP came out on the Xbox One platform, and I've never had enough to buy anything bigger than an Asp. Why? Because I'm too busy having fun.

What I'm about to say is likely to attract some dismay from some, criticism even, but as I'm being perfectly polite, I have no worries for what I'm about to say

LATEST INSIDER SCOOPS

TheAgent (man on the inside looking at the abyss outside from the inside) is back with more outrageous insider scoops.

Let’s start with the most outrageous one.

Went out drinking with a friend last night..

“We are, we do! Work towards something. We work hard at making progress. We do! But that progress is changed every week. Every day sometimes. How can anything ever be finished if entire teams of employees are retasked at any moment? People lose momentum. You lose sight of what the project is. It just becomes one unfinished thing after another. One of Roberts’ lackeys tells you to drop something, you do. Then two weeks later Roberts is screaming at some poor guy because he did as he was told. “Not by me.” That’s the response you hear a lot from Roberts.”

“The best one, absolutely, deals with [a brand new employee]. It’s his, what, third day? He’s in the break room and Roberts storms in but is real quiet. Pulls the guy out and walks him in front of some other workstation. “What is this?” Roberts goes. The new guy, right outta college, is shitting himself. What could Roberts mean? Was something wrong with the desk? Was this where he’s supposed to be sitting? He’s got no idea.

“You know what this costs? You’re taking my time, everyone’s time,” and now Roberts is shouting, “it’s like you don’t care how much you’re costing us. Do you like spending my money?” Chris stands there, arms crossed, waiting for a response.

[The new guy] is scared stupid. He starts blubbering and apologising without having any idea what’s going on, right?

Chris points to the chair, “Sit your ass down and get it right.” He then storms off again. Poor guy has no idea what the fuck to do.

Turns out Chris thought he was [completely different employee]. He never apologised. Never went back to check if anything was fixed. [New guy] quit by week three.”

I don't think FD wants, by design, that many players achieving "end-game" ships, like the Anaconda, Corvette, or Cutter. Hear me out, and know I'm not saying that you shouldn't aim for those ships. If you want to put in the work, then you're entitled to do so.

But I think FD has always envisioned the big ships to be the reserve of the most dedicated players, hours-wise. Why would they want this? Simple. There are, what, 30-odd ships in the game? Can you imagine how boring it would be if everyone was flying the big three, and the big three only? I think it would be pretty dull.

Instead, we have a "progression system" that ensures that there's always a wide variety of ships being used. And the closest thing we have to official ship number stats, the Inara charts, indicates that it's working. There's a good mix of all the ships, even the Asp Scout!

So yeah, I think FD want to limit the number of huge cruisers flying around, but in a way that makes sense. A big rig in real life costs a fortune. Why would it be any different in a game that aims to simulate an economy?

Like I say, work for the big three if you like. But don't cry "grind is boring". It's not, if you take the time to appreciate the ships along the way. Sadly, some people just want the "best" toys immediately. Those, I have no sympathy for. There's more to the ships then the three "meta-ships".

Just my opinion.

Keep it civil like I have guys. I've been polite about my views, and I'm not slandering anyone. Just voicing my opinion on a current topic.

PS I think the "rank grind" is the way it is to limit the number of Corvettes & Cutters, too.

I saw Chris Roberts at a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.
He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”
I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.
The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

You're right.
They are promoting it as a complete game which its not. It's more like a very long tech demo with endless boring grind no matter what you do to be able to progress in some meaningful way.

Another problem I see in space games is EVE Valkyrie.

A small VR "demo" where the cool stuff are the first couple of minutes and you end up with just boring stuff for the rest of the game. It's sold for 510 norwegian crowns on Steam compared to ED which is sold for 200 crowns + 200 for Horizon which is a lot more game for the money. Even if its still nothing.

Says more about Valkyrie.

Tell me about it.
It's $250. Think of what you can get for $250
I bought it way back when cus it was billed as a modular civilian refit suitable for secure hauling, and blockade running while being livable and fast.
It's $250. Think of what you can get for $250

A Gladius and a Gladiator.
A freelancer and a Prospector.
A Constellation Taurus and a Cutlass Black.

It is my very favorite ship and I just cannot justify it because of how completely they ruined it. In its current state it's just not good at anything, and there has been no talk of altering it and no confirmation of Modularity in the turrets and hardpoints to change its role.
>>
>>165361043
I mean ... the Freelancer max will be able to go through small jumptions while Conny Taurus will not, and Freelancer will be cheaper to operate due to weight and size. That's CiG's justification for same price range even though Taurus have twice the size of cargo cap of Freelancer Max.

They said ages ago thats the Base lancer was small hole capable, its never been said if the max was or not, and DESU that statement is so old(Made about the original and significantly smaller base freelancer) and has not been touched upon in so long that it may not even apply.

Note the scale of guns/turret in particular relative the the ship, but those are size four guns on twin turrets.

Thats how balance work in a competitive game, SC is not, and the mindset that "All choices must be equally valid and result in the same outcome" is a cancer that is rotting away at gaming.

You don't buff a thing simply because no one is using it, and you certainly don't determine ship capabilities based on Cash shop cost. You're funding the project not paying for a competitive advantage or even competitive equality. If you are making your purchases based on game balance you are an idiot who does not understand the concept of an alpha.

Japanese is not written right to left, first off. The actual orthography for the numerals is quite different. The only similarity is the fact that there are special 100 and 1000 numerals, but that's not really an uncommon feature in languages. However...

>>165372036
Honestly, they should use base 12. Base 10 is easy for us because we have 10 fingers. Since the Xi'an have 6 fingers, you'd probably wind up with them using either a base-6 or base-12 system, but base-12 is VASTLY more practical due to its high divisibility.

>Tracker
It's a scout ship you mongoloid. It works with other ships to detect threats early and provide an information advantage.

>Max
Its worse than the Taurus based on its old stats, which will almost certainly change, just like the lancers base stats changed when It got rebuilt. Being a dedicated ship it will probably end up with similar or greater cargo capacity and lower operating costs than the Taurus, while the Taurus will have the advantage in combat.

>Prospector
Literally the only small mining ship in game, will be a hugely profitable craft in pursuit of small deposits of valuable minerals. Completely self contained but can also be easily paired with a hauler for better efficiency by the nature of its swappable ore pod system.

>Taurus
Low cost combat freighter operable by a single player with large cargo capacity and significant intimidation value. The only reasons I dont own one is the atrocious front glass.

>Blue
Cutlass with better shields more missiles and holding cells, after the rework it will be THE bounty hunting ship to have when pursuing "capture" targets.

>Base
We know the modules, Cargo front and rear, Quarters front and rear, Torps front and rear, Dropship front. The Dropship module combines with a rear cargo bay and 5 turrets will probably make this an excellent assault ship, capable of carrying an entire squad + supplies and a dragonfly in the rear bay. The only fair point is the high man power cost, which is why I advocate for modular hardpoints to be made for the retaliator allowing its to replace turrets with weapon or pylon mounts.

I saw Chris Roberts on Kickstarter in Austin Texas yesterday. I told him how cool it was to see him make a game again, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and send him any messages or anything.
When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the Kickstarter with like $2 million in backer money in his bank account without a game.
The backers on Reddit were very nice about it and professional, and were like “Chris, you need to give us a game for our money.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear them, but eventually turned back around and started developing a game.
When the backers melted their ships to buy new .jpegs, he stopped them and told them they could get ships for cheaper with war bonds “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After they waited for 5 years and were still waiting for a game, he kept interrupting them by yawning really loudly.

>muh "unparalleled manoeuvrability"

I actually like the size of the current Cutlass, it's like a heavy fighter that can double as a ghetto dropship, which really fits the bill of it being a multi-role "militia" ship.

It certainly needs the remodel, but ideally it would have the same internal space as now and just be a little more compact.

The new one feels like 2/3rds of a Constellation.

>>165376264

The Buccaneer is far lighter than the ship I was hoping for when they announced it.

To me a pirate/militia fighter is about independence: sacrificing a certain level of combat ability for non-combat utility. For the price tag I was hoping for a Super Avenger, not a very slightly up-gunned Gladius.

Hopefully they will add a long-range medium fighter, if not from Drake then from RSI or even CO.

I think the new size was a logical step considering the Current Cutlass is useless garbage

It was too small to be worth taking, too large to avoid fire like a smaller ship. Had to go either way, and the Bucc was the "go smaller" option.
>>
>>165376905

They have talked through a lot of ideas before and they have almost all been very cool.

If they intend to keep the "module customisation" stretch goal then there will be a ton of ship customisation coming in the long term. I can't imagine we'll see more of this though until almost all of the ships are complete.

I absolutely love the idea of the Gladiator, it is a blast to fly, but there are too many retarded design elements going on like the chair lift and the gunner bubble.

Freelancer is too big for me. They have done a great job on it though.

I'm really just hoping for an Avenger or 325A that doesn't suck.

>325A that doesn't suck

Don't remind me; I'm pretty sure my Aurora LN is a better missile boat.
>>
>>165377182

I still think that there is a gap for a non-military fighter which can carry one passenger/gunner and a very small volume of cargo.

I would honestly go with the Reliant if it weren't steaming garbage, but I think I am just going to have to unmelt my Avenger once they fix the cockpit and guns.

325A will be great after the rework (I hope) but it's a bit too slick for me.
>>
>>165377204
note I said describe not produce.

I dont care when they make them, I jsut want to know what they do and dont intend.

Will we have:
"Light Gunnery Module" which addes a turret or three with small hardpoints.
"heavy gunnery module" which just adds another big fat turret,
"Missile turret module" anti fighter missiles
"vertical launcher module" which fires bigger rockets than turreted.
"Secondary Shield module" with a secnd sheild bubble to protect the ship.
"Supplementary powerplant module" to power all this shit.
"Cutlass docking Module" like that one dude drew up years ago.
Mix and match to built you're Ideal mad max spaceship.

Or is it just gonna be non combat modules like different cargo configs or extra quarters or w/e.

I just want to know what theyre planning to make so I can decide to keep the ship or not. I want to make it into a gunboat, since the Starfarer is already a far better cargo ship while also being better armed. right now the Dedicated pirate subcap multicrew ship gets its ass completely handed to it by a solo crewed Starfarer Gemini.

I know it's kind of playing God, and that many will be morally against them for it, but I think the risk is worth it
>>
>>165378319

I like the idea of vertical ships (I think) but it turns out I hate flying them. In the free-flight I was constantly trying to avoid obstacles as if my wings were on the sides. This is obviously a bad habit.

I think I'll rent it down the road and see how it's getting on.

>The 300I rework will probably add seats too.

I was very optimistic about the 300i update until the F7C remodel. Some people might not have noticed the F7C remodel, as it is literally exactly the same with the same clipping issues and the same shitty cockpit, missile placement, nose turret and landing gear. The new F7A is awesome but exactly none of those improvements were brought over to the F7C.

So hopefully Chris Smith deigns to actually fix his shit this time.

its not a matter of it being broken as shit (because it is), its a matter of it literally missing features. That isn't tweaking, and suggesting it is just makes you come off like a desperate cultist.

Upgrading = turning items in to higher quality ones. You notice how it's listed near "research", "overclocking" and "hacking", etc. Modules like on the Endeavor allow this.

The 350R is designed to be faster yet it feels like a bus trying to race an F1 car.

At the system where you incurred the bounty, any station that's controlled by the minor faction that issued it, or at an interstellar factors contact which are found in low security systems. You could ignore it but it never goes away and if you die in that minor faction's jurisdiction the fine is added to your rebuy cost. Once a bounty goes dormant cops and bounty hunters won't kill you.

I don't know anon, perhaps where you're trying to get to has bandits with an itchy trigger finger on MANPADs or a SAM installation.

Maybe its not suitable for landing.

Maybe you need to make a more stealthy approach
>>
>>165440784
Well if they let you land right on top of any location you need to go any land vehicle like the ursa or the dragonfly will be 100% pointless.

Things like bad weather, AA defenses or simply the terrain not being suitable for landing should force you to find a different landing spot and travel to your destination on foot or using a ground vehicle.

If I take one of those long range passenger missions, get to the sagA and then self destruct (assuming my client doesnt care about damage) will I respawn at my base and just complete the mission?
I've been blown up before while doing mission and I could still finish it
>>
>>165408141
For me it's either or - if I'm angled well I just boost in, if I'm coming in awkwardly for some reason, and a scan starts to pick me up I activate stealth.

Doing both I often end up ramming into the back of the Starport interior with no shields.

Also, Keelback seems more viable than ever now with 2x hull health this patch; I flew one immediately after fighters came out and had a blast; I think it might be turning into a great option for mining, hauling and taxi service.

So the reason people hate on it is because they all think CIG is doing this just to scam cash from the whales?

Is it because they game turned out to be something that they didnt want?

Is it because they are jealus of CIG's success with crowdfunding?

What is all the butthurt about?
>>
>>165445426
The nature of the funding model for SC encourages heavy confirmation bias. People that are in for hundreds or thousands of dollars are not going to remain objective, and therefore can be triggered like a SJW at a MRA meeting.

Also, try to remember, >80% of this board is bait and shitposts. I've stirred up shit on occasion because triggering fundies of any flavor is fun.

>Anyone that really thinks CIG is a scam already has a refund.

>People that were let down are the same ones that set unfair expectations for themselves. The fault for their disappointment is squarely theirs.

Well actually they were once eager fans of the game, showing off their jpegs, forming their own org, getting excited and such. You can see this in earlier threads from 2014 and before that.
But they made the mad mistake of following development 24/7. It seems like a completely unreasonable wait, and therefore a scam, because they've had to wait for this longer than anything else (because it has been visible for longer than anything else).
It makes perfect sense, no one follows something this closely without personal investment or desire to see it to completion, just like I don't go around bashing MOBAs. Why would I spend my time doing that if I dislike them?

With the vast amounts of salt being dispensed by the vanguard, you honestly think subjectivity is valid? the 85x's lines changed. I haven't seen anyone say it's an improvement. They're either indifferent or against it. Modelers are given reign over their project, subject to review. You're right, ED is the poster child of wasted potential. They have this game with amazing visuals, audio, and literally the entire galaxy to explore, and put nothing fun or interesting to do in it. There's only grinding for credits, ranks, and now engineers upgrades.

I still remember the first big let-down, Powerplay. I was willing to give FD the benefit of the doubt up to this point, I honestly believed that they were going to fill out the game with cool and engaging mechanics, but 1.3 was the first patch that made me scratch my head and say, "are these people fucking retarded?" They were finally going to add something fun to do with context - a faction based, competitive, player driven game to play. Instead we got a weekly pamphlet delivery campaign that not only makes less money than pretty much any other activity, but also doesn't even reward PvP in any way. Why even bother having factions if it's just going to be a PvE grind fest with no reason to actually fight each other?

It was all downhill from there, with each new patch either adding nothing substantive, or actively harming the game with things like the fucking engineers.

Star Citizen can't come soon enough.

Things about HOW THE GAME WORKS, not just ship models or little updates to arena or whatever. I'm in $65 I think, and I'm going to stay there until there's enough game to keep me interested for 2-4 hours a day, 3-5 days a week, for a couple of months straight at least.

If it can hit that mark, I'll probably invest a little more. The more time I spend playing, the more I'll probably spend on a game.

My big early access fuckup was MW:O, which I spent like $300 on for a founders package and ended up not enjoying the game very much. I've probably played 10-15 hours of it.

On the other hand, I probably have about $200 or so in World of Tanks which I've got over 1,000 hours in.

It all comes down to the cost / entertainment equation. A movie at the theater is $7-9 for 1-3 hours of entertainment. Wages in the US for most people are $10-30/hour.

If I can keep my cost of entertainment <$1/hr, I'm doing ok.

Sounds good to me. Makes salvage something other than point and click, and having someone else there to keep an eye out for danger adds a good risk element.

Could even open the door for some good emergent gameplay. Say you're under attack by a pirate and you EVA unnoticed. The pirates, thinking you're dead, come in to collect your cargo and steal your ship.

Meanwhile, you're busy planting C4 on the hull of your own disabled ship to kill anyone onboard and sneaking on board their Cutlass to lay an ambush for any survivors.

Only if you keep thinking of Star Citizen as a game where you hoard thousand tons of item in your inventory.

It's ok to be skeptical but also think of the potential it can have.
We have FPS to fight outside a vehicle, we have actual way to disembark or embark so you don't just teleport in but carefully plan your landing, you won't just grab & run shooting but escort a player or a npc with the cargo. much more thrilling. You will have the epic sense of emergency you see in movie, you'll hear the enemy shoot at your hull while you try to jump start it.
Everybody here must have dreamed of hiding a lot of fighters inside cargo container and sneak them in.

Long ago we were amazed to have vehicle you could exit at all. the first game were you could leave a vehicle and still have a FPS gameplay were mindblowing.
I remember the time of GTA III and Mafia.

commodities gone from engineer commodities mean that engineering one ship to full takes a fraction of the time and frustration it used to

engineer bases are so overcrowded that you have to QUEUE to get a pad, every single time, even at Palin and other end of the line engineers, or go to solo
>>

>how

I looked at my route and thought the star I landed on when I needed to scoop fuel was a class M, and it turned out to by a T-Tauri star, so I was left stranded. Fuel rats helped me out though, was refuelld and back on my way in 5 minutes.

So basically I was just a bit careless and paid the price.

I know I checked it from the galaxy view, I just didn't notice somehow, it was super stupid of me. It's the first time it's ever happened, and the mission was doomed anyway because I finished most of it last night, and planned to do the long return flight today when I got home from work, at which point my passenger was getting pissy.

Lesson learnt though; don't do a tourist mission if you can't finish it in one session (unless they aren't bothered by delays), and always double check you have enough fuel to continue/are at the correct type of star.

They're cargo missions but the cargo is on it's period.

Ships other than Orcas can do them.

Pretty sure they're more lucrative than cargo, but someone else will have to confirm. I know there were some pretty high paying ones in 17 Draconis last time I left, for taking the passengers back to the bubble basically.

One faction has Prismatic Shields if you are into those. Otherwise Powerplay is useless.
>>
>>165501216
>Why do they think

Other developers do it. It's a cheap and easy way to provide backdrop for commentary and potentially live questions. Would be best if they had set up private matches in which people could play with them while they have the Q&A going on.
>>
>>165501548
These private matches would be full in an instant anyway, and I could easily join their matches

>>165501802
I mean, I could easily join their matches today, so there's not really a need for private ones

>>165501548
I see your point. I'm of two minds about this. Either, show us good players that show us gameplay at a high level, or have all the players in the match ignore the game and meet up to demonstrate the game mechanics in detail.

Playing the game poorly and talking about it while distracted isn't really helping anybody. At least Todd didn't play and focused on what he was saying.

They missed out the mega map from 2.6, and heavy armor, I'm unaware of anything else.

Having content taken out of patches for the next one isn't my main concern, it's the fact that it takes so long for them to create content anyway.

3 months for a weapon which a modder could throw together in a week, and even more time to balance it.

How many characters have we got? It's taken over 4 years to go from a bald dude in a red flight suit to like a handful of NPCs and a few dozen clothing items.

I played this in 2.5 for free weekend. I enjoyed dicking around.

I wouldn't mind paying $35 to dick around again whenever I want and maybe, eventually, get a real video game.

Question 1: Is the game as playable/more playable now than it was then?

Question 2: Mustang or arora? I've heard they both got nerfed and are worthless now but i'm not giving more goybucks to SC for bigger ships especially if it's true you can just play whatever you want in singleplay arena commander as a demo.

What excuses would be used by cultists if people objectively review Star Citizen with the netcode and find it to be laughable? For example, if a single Idris filled with people the server, and people discover how garbage Cryengine is and start asking for refunds.

I know they have lots of smart people working on the game, especially Crytek devs and the guy who I recall was said to have done his PhD in stuff he's putting in to the patching system and netcode.
>>
>>165515893
>filled with people *crashed* the server

They would not release a build for - as CIG call it - "Prime Time" that was supposed to demonstrate the netcode and the Idris working if it fundamentally did not work, its too glaring an issue for them to be comfortable letting people experience it.
CIG have also shown many times, that the Idris is highly unlikely to come to the PU (Star Citizen) until AFTER SQ42 release due to *SPOILERS*.

If, however 3.0 netcode is shit, people will obviously be fucked off. But, the bar is so low currently in terms of netcode and associated PU framerate and physics step fuckery that there is almost no conceivable way that it won't improve with 3.0.

It's not good for anything besides racing.
>>
Elite players can actively hate their released game while sc's have to pretend they are playing theirs and liking it.

Elite is shit, but it will never be that pathetic.
>>
>>165519050
You do realize there are going to be huge PU race courses right? Like that episode of Stargate SG1 or Star Trek Voyager where they race those ships around asteroids and stuff.

If you don't find that cool then whatever.
>>
>>165519187
Nobody pretends, not in this general. Aside from the occasional shitposter or the false flagger above trying to split the threads again. The people who still play are well aware of the severe flaws ED has. Those of us who no longer play and are waiting for SC waste no time when it comes to explaining why we quit either. I would argue that this general is pretty sane when it comes to tailoring expectations for both games. Shit only happens when people come here to purposely stir shit.
>>
I like /edg/ posters. Especially the corvette guy, I don't like their game, though.

I'd rather have /edg/ posters replace /scg/ posters.
>>
I hate video games. I wish anyone that liked video games would leave this general.
>>
>>165519383
Yeah and I'll buy one in game when that comes out. Right now it's just boring to do the same race course over and over.
>>
since ed is dying and sc is growing by the minute I feel sc is the logical direction
>>
>>165519758
Corvette guy is pretty broad, everyone in this general has one.
>>165519876
You are smalltime.
I hate video games so much, I wish everyone who liked video games died.
>>
>>165519876
I hate gamers so much that they are brutually anal probed before they die
>>
>>165519876
I feel like this could work in pretty much every general. I know that no one in the CSGO general ever actually plays the game.
>>
>>165511875
Not sure if there's more info elsewhere but from the video the only hints at the grammar are the punctuation marks, but we don't know how they use them yet. We really only know about the orthography and a vaguely about the sound system since their resident linguist withheld any sort of phonetic transcription.

This is true.

We share the same general because we're all getting fucked, just in different positions.

what UI color should I use in ED
>>
>>165523805
black
>>
>>165523805

Blue makes your weapons cool faster. Red increases weapon damage. Green increases speed. Setting it to pink/purple will open a dialog menu once you start the game for you to input your credit card number for Frontier to take 10 dollars from you every day, counted as donations. Whatever you do though, DO NOT set it to orange/yellow.
>>
ok what UI color should I use with a Vive? Does it affect legibility?

also do I really have to download a profiler to change the UI color?

I heard that you can use any ship you want in single player arena to try it out now, is this true or lies?

I regret nothing.

I've spent three times that on WoW over 12 years and I don't regret that either.

It's still cheaper than going barhopping every weekend.

Has the firefox plugin for the RSI hangar page stopped working for anyone else?
>>
>>165529619
That's fine for me. I play games for fun, not to collect ships. My only regret is not selling it on ebay because they go for quite a bit.

>My only regret is not selling it on ebay because they go for quite a bit.
And there, you've nailed it.
You couldv'e sold the piece of shit to a whale for its scarcity value and bought more of ship(s) [or as you describe it as the foreign concept of /////fun////] you actually want.
But who am I to judge. Retard
>>

>>165529997
