I'm laughing pretty hard at everyone that bought an xbone for Scalebound thinking they'd get a good Soulsborne/MH game, and now aren't even getting a game, period.

Kids learn pretty fast nowadays because of 3D games. My fianceé's little brother is 7 and I was pretty impressed by how easy he got used to Long Sword's timing and hitboxes in his first try at the Great Maccao tutorial. I remember having a harder time than he did.

Just recently started gen, I mained switch axe back in tri and p3rd but moved onto the insect glaive in 4U, that thing was just way too much fun. The visual design took a nosedive and not only regarding monsters.
The new gimmicks are all terrible, uninspired and unsatisfying. They either do nothing, do bad or terrible. (Styles being a "lol so fun" 30 hunts experience, Arts, Deviants relying on generic anime aoe instead of putting actual thought in their fights, flashy or even glowing, colours everywhere, Deviant gear being purposefully tedious instead of difficult to obtain.)
Then there's the awful perfomances, the game is an abomination on a technical level for the sake of new particles.
Prowlers while refreshing have no depth at all.
Hypers being the shittiest mechanic ever introduced in MH
The roster is interesting at first but then you realized they fucked most of them with terrible movesets.

4U and 3U's flaws were : technical bits, SOME new monsters being bad (visually or to fight)

The visual design is not that different to previous games, at least to my eyes. I really like the new monsters overall.
The new gimmicks are there to keep it fresh, and not just "4U 2.0". Styles and artes are a good way to make weapons have more depth than just choosing a weapon type (though they do need a bit more balancing between them).
Deviants could use a little more work, but they don't rely on AoE, they use the same moves as their base forms do.
Colors everywhere is a good thing. What, do you want MonHun to become Generic Brown Shooter?
Prowlers do need more work, they feel tacked on instead of fully fleshed out, hopefully they'll get some love in XX.
Hypers are an enourmous step in the right direction from Apex shit. Apex is objectively the worst thing to ever happen.
The only new monsters with bad movesets to me are Astalos and Gammoth. Astalos is just too much like a Rath, and Gammoth is too big and slow to be much fun. All the others have interesting moves and a great variety.

4U had a lot more flaws than you're cherry picking, including: Apex mechanic, CB and IG being over-buffed from 4 normal, Guild Quests having poor distribution and essentially becoming "farm lv 140 Hot Monkey Dick for 200+ hours for that 1 perfect relic"

In the end, people have different opinions and like different things, what a suprise. You like 4U and I like Gen, and that's the way things are.

It is, it's started with Zinogre, Brachydios, Gore and all Gen monsters minus Maccao follow the same lines, but not older monster's.
In theory, but they're basically flavor to bring in people that don't like the game. They don't bring any depth and arts are either passives or sharpening, everything else is mostly bad.

Once again, Apex is good, just not designed for you. CB and IG were good but everything was, some weapons perfomed much worse because everyone wanted to pit them in 140 solo which isn't designed for every weapon.
The problem here is in your head, no one forced you to farm for relics and it wasn't intended that way. 4U's biggest flaw was the misunderstanding GQ and Apex brought in the community.

Because hitting the softspot is good no matter what, Drive induced confusion and people thought they could remove apex by hitting hard spots with it when in fact, it doesn't.
It rewards knowing the softspots, the fights, the mechanics and the wystones, it rewards the ability to hit these softspots constantly without messing up and it punishes bruteforcing the fight while allowing Drive+Element status.
Hyper punishes everything because the fights become a long boring slog with slower no-threat attacks, gigantic HP pool and the only thing it gives you is faster art charging : it doesn't change a thing, in the end it's the same monster, even weaker sometimes, with too much health.

It is, sometimes even more, look at the health data. Having it charge the arts faster is not good because the arts are bad, the only ones that benefit from it are level 3 versions of arts that are otherwise never used, all good arts charge fast enough.
it doesn't matter because the tell is there and lasts longer so you end up having more time to get ready, just less between the end of the tell and the impact. It's easier.
When a monster is in the apex state you have to hit the soft spot no matter what, these are often medium weakspot but sometimes hardspots, when the apex state is removed they turn back to normal where their normal weakspots are exposed, they turn into normal monsters that are a cakewalk.

Sharpness pattern 8. I'd rather have sheath control + attack up m (because my talisman lets me do it) over something needing honed blade or god forbid you if you do it, sharpness + shit. If you get more than 1488 and more than one slot it's already way more useful than BFB for most monsters. Good luck though, hope for good sharpness, decent attack and some slots. Element and Status if you're some kinda farming bot. All they needed was to have good red gauge upkeep in 4U. I fucking cry because of how fun it is to spam fade slash into the new charge in into bloody spirit 3 and fade slash wherever you want. The way the red gauge final spirit slash is atrocious. It's either dump all your gauge for this shit slash to prolong your gauge for what is nothing or keep up the dps and cry that it's one minute. Sure it's easily doable to get to red gauge but when compared to je suis monte's boost? My god is it way harder.
