Wouldn't have happened - something I haven't realized at the time is that throwing out Lex does actually equal throwing out the entire Forge team and, as you pointed out, there's no other team willing to take the burden.

The Windows 10 Edition has no symbol table, unlike Pocket Edition - this is a Windows Store publishing requirement. Without the debugging symbols, what you effectively get is a giant lump of optimized machine code done by one of the many C++ compilers (as opposed to bytecode which can be easily matched to the behaviour of the one Java compiler most people use - javac). While tools like IDA help, decompiling and mapping a C++ binary in the same way a Java binary was mapped would be a far more gargantuan effort.

Don't worry, though - the Windows 10 Edition is getting a C# (Mono-based)/JSON combo API. Q1 2017 is what I heard thrown around for a simple API to modify existing game behaviour, with the ability to add new content coming "later".

Is there ANY way to get rid of the vanilla biomes? I want everything gone except for desert, Mesa and swamps for my modpack, and I'm going insane trying to figure this shit out.

It shouldn't be a hard thing to do but I'm finding it damn near impossible. I've found a mod that can disable all but one biome but I still want to have a variety of biomes, just only the ones I've handpicked.
People have claimed that Climate Control can do this but I haven't been able to figure that out at all.

I'm at the end of my fucking rope here.

go for a MOX fuel ic2 fluid reactor.

You can choose If you want to thinker with recplacing component (and putting them in cooling towers), or timing right the online periods before all the reactor goes *puff*

I find that minigame very pleasurable, and you can always play it safe using different set-ups

and the good thing is, the power generation is far from overpowered, you can go really big without worrying to lose interest in energy forever

I have never coded for anything, trying to operate the config files for that mod seems incredibly complicated and would take a long time.
Does it let me determine biome weight and such?

One thing you should try is using more materials and block types. Add stairs, slabs, or chiseled bricks for texture and to break up the monotony. Even the most simple breadboxes can be made more appealing with some as simple as using stairs or something to frame a window. Also use Glass Panes instead of Glass Blocks so the windows stand out from the rest of the wall rather than just forming a flat surface.

It also helps to pepper around some leaf blocks around the base for bushes, and raising the earth in spots so it meshes better with the ground around it rather than looking like something just sticking out of the ground. Like Maybe bring the earth up around one of the back corners, and chisel the front lawn area into a more natural slope so it looks like you've built with the terrain rather than just bulldozing everything.

Would anyone play on a server that's more based on scavenging in a post-apocalyptic setting of mostly deserts and other arid or sickly biomes? Or at least play a modpack based on that idea, because I have shit internet and can't host a server.

Looking at putting in Immersive Engineering, Flaxbeard's Steampower, Cogs of the Machine, Railcraft, maybe Thaumcraft and possibly even Blood Magic, but I'm not sure on that.
Thinking of having Ex Nihilo and Ex Astris if I'm going for that scavenging idea more, maybe some sort of mod that would make the ore generation not nonexistent, but extremely sparse, maybe with like large deposits of specific ores few and far between if you really want to search and get lucky.
Any other mods that would work with this idea?

Thinking of things I can put in the world to get resources from, I like the idea of rarely finding giant metal gears in the desert, like the Clockwork Site from Recurrent Complex but made of metal blocks instead of colored clay, but I'm not sure how to make that balanced because finding one of these sights would pretty much get you set for life on copper and brass.

Other ideas would be abandoned workshops like pic related, maybe like broken power poles next to sections of broken roads, old power substations, broken mining machines and depleted quarries, stuff like that.

I decided to give that mod a shot recently and ehh... for just one nether star and some nether/end stripmining you can craft a single piece of wyvern armor to get the energy shield and become pretty much invulnerable. And that's the lowest tier.

Made the mistake of also running ExtraUtilities and found out that baiting a ghast to follow you over a hill to get lasso'd is a lot easier to do than expected.

You can use them together, but you can't convert IC2 to RF, which is what buildcraft and IE use.
Unless you have mekanism.

You do need buildcraft or some equivalent if you're using ic2, it still has no methods of item transport.

Hey, funny enough I'm the guy that made your image >>165345270 and i made it as a test build for pretty much the exactly type of thing you're talking about. I intend it to be a server, the only difference is that it will be a completely custom painted map (20kx20k with different continents separated by toxic oceans), I have a custom resource pack in addition to having commissioned a custom mod that is almost complete to add the worked metal blocks that are pictured in that post, in addition to metal stairs and slabs, airships when VW is complete, and a storyline / cultural plot for the world that this all takes place in. If you're interested in being part of the project we could set up a discord.

My only stipulations are that I'm pretty picky about what mods I want included, however I'm open to discussion. For instance, I had these worked metal blocks added so that you can find those large gears you mentioned without it actually being steel or copper blocks you can get ahead in production with, its mostly scrap metal to make your base pretty.

I also plan on having almost no ore in the earth, instead having locations on the map you can travel to that basically dispense a set amount of ore a day, until you gather enough resources to build an excavator at your base (even with no resources in the earth, excavator will still dig shit up).

You don't have to build an exact replica of the build, the guide helps you understand how those TC blocks work - not just pipes - and you can also take parts of it and apply it to your own build, such as the "insert jar" in the input that uses the bellows most people think only works for the infernal furnace, or that reservoir just before the crystallizers using two restricted pipes.

Also, the storage cells are more intelligently built than you realize, the regular jar on the top is kept filled over the reservoirs (you can see this clearly in the top right screenshot with the bit of Terra), even taking from the reservoirs to keep itself filled up. So you're concerned over a non-issue.

You don't need to be able to. In a cell, the tube suction pulls essentia to the labeled jar at the top as its highest priority, then to the first reservoir, then the second reservoir, then to the void jar.
Getting the void metal is easy as fuck with a crimson grinder, the amount of micro/tubecrafting for the buffers is the real killer

Well, you can increase their range with glasses and Water upgrade. You could use any other mod to filter items between golems bound inventory, or you could check out Sorting golem for that, i've never actually used one so i'm not sure how they work.

Beginning the process of creating the "trees" for the toxic jungle from nausicaa.

The idea is that there will be 4-5 of these huge tree models, including the latticework of (mycellium, everything is retextured for now, it will all change materials) strange growth creating the jungle "floor" as the webby things link together. Underneath will be the jungle sub layer, a warren of tunnels for bugs and slime.

I will post updates as I go.

Only thing I dislike is the 1.10 insistence, mostly because I like Flaxbeard's and Cogs of the Machine, both of which will probably be never updated to 1.10.

Ok so I made some quick mockup textures, and adjusted freqeuncy of trees, i got a nicer looking lattice work, I like how it makes these little holes to the subjungle. Maybe I will make multiple layers of lattice, and I think ill seperate the lattice from the trees themselves.

The whole region is filled with Kanto species and Alolan forms for Kanto species, there are very few interesting local species.

Ok so I went back and made the "ground" in the toxic jungle a seperate set of items instead of bound to the bases of the trees. I think this creates a cool effect like the more stable areas, and then the "lakes" between with large mushrooms and trees rising through both lake and lattice floor.

Interesting. Since the pack is all tech and no magic, I have already re-purposed soul sand as mud. But the color isn't right. Technically what you see is red mushroom blocks, just re-skinned for now. I don't know if I will create a new block for it or just keep using red mushroom.

So the pack is built around IE, Valkyrian Warfare (pending completion), and the custom mod a friend is programming as we speak (mostly aesthetic and world specific blocks). Though I wouldn't mind adding some lite mods to improve everyday things. I'm a sadist and I enjoy the slowness of IE's progression. However the map itself will contain more opportunities for salvage metals and iron production.

I'm only reworking some stuff that has been made obsolete by the "theme" of the world. Like, no magic, so soul sand is getting reflavored to "mud". I really want to make the WORLD interesting (I'm painting a custom map obviously) instead of relying on adding more and more mod content to provide the fun. I want to open a server for this, but I used to run servers a while ago, and I learned that if I'm not enjoying it, its hard to put work into. So really this project is just as much for me as it is for others to experience. As such, it may be slowly developed.

If people are interested in sharing the ride, we can make a dickscord channel. I wouldnt mind some input on my world map before I begin to seriously paint it.

Similar to Nausicaa's world, there was a cataclysmic tech war, and pretty much everything perished. The oceans are poisoned, and one whole continent is desert and toxic jungle (though another continent is still fairly lush, providing most of the world's wood). Manking receded to The Substrate, basically the deep running foundations of the ancient tech empires of the past world (think manmade rifts into the earth akin to Blame!s city, or the mining chasms in that potsu works near in the beggining of Castle in the Sky, large enough to fly an airship through). After living in these substrates for thousands of years to escape the chemical poison of the world, they emerge. The modpack is set after humanity has been living on the surface for about a thousand years already. Small kingdoms and conglomerates of states ala Nausicaa exist, and can only travel between themselves on airships (remember the ocean is poisoned) or by long journey's through the dangerous substrates that network the world.

IC2 is shit. Buildcraft is only worth using for its utility. Immersive Engineering is the best flavor wise and most fun to use, but if you prefer sterile cubes and lack of interesting things IC2 is also good.

Don't use either with IE because it ruins the balance, but if you do use IC2, then you should really use Buildcraft.

okay, so IE is trying to use a potion ID that is out of range of the available potion IDs. you can either get PotionExtension, which I believe AMT2 grabs automagically as its a dependency but you should be able to use it without AMT2. How do I build a wall that doesn't look like crap around this village? The terrain is kind of crazy, and I like it that way as opposed to being flat.

The problem is, if I adapt the wall to the terrain, it has to be taller in some areas than in others to ensure nothing can get over. It looks kind of derpy when I do this.

On the other hand, if I just make the wall the same height in order for it to cover everything and ensure nothing can get over, the wall has to be like 7 blocks high, which looks ugly as hell because it then just looks like a big bland cobblestone chunk of shit.

So I made this "cloud" or bushel of leaves to paste in so many rotations to the branches to create the canopy, but I can't paste it because it will replace the trunk. The only way to do it is to keep the leaves stationary and paste the tree into the leaves, which would take forever.


Is there a way to do this? I can't believe MCedit doesn't have a "paste only on air" function.

any plan of adding boots? having a full set of endgame magic metal armor and being stuck with the boots you made in thaumaturgy 102 always struck me as odd (especially as they are leather-tier with a low durability).
You could either try to make an upgrade path for the boots, or just make the missing boots for each armor and a way to turn the boots into an enchant
and please rip off the boots of the meteor/comet too
oh, and a way to look spectral (potion? deflect chance?) and a way to float like the eldritch guardian would be pretty cool too.

Upholstery was a fucking mess, and T.Dyes was a buggy mess until about the 1.4 builds. Which was mostly all my fault anyway, because I didn't know you needed special armour dye recipe registration in order to not fuck up literally everything else. Forgetting to change the research keys for infusion recipes to the new names in 1.5.0 was another classic

I kinda avoided boots because I was just trying to get everything else to work first, and because unfucking recipes and managing custom model shit (for ranger, especially) was more difficult than I thought. Also the colour regions on dyeable boots would have only been 1-2px max, so you'd barely notice it anyway, and the vanilla TC boots seemed fine as is.

I'll be honest I don't really like the fungus of either variant but I like your trees and the contrast between the organic looking trees and the very copypasta looking fungus throws me off and makes it look like theres assets that are supposed to be there and then a bunch of assets that aren't supposed to.

I'm really not trying to be a dick or edgy, the rest of your stuff looks really good. I don't know how to make the fungus not look bad myself. Maybe have it curve and have bulbous growths that aren't so uniform? Just something different so if you rotate the asset it will look less uniform even though its the exact same asset.

Right now the listing isn't ranked according to votes, it's ranked based on when the server was added to the list (newest at top). I'll admit, enabling the functionality to list by vote would skew the results heavily towards my own server's favour because I have the player base to immediately shoot up to top. But I don't want to discriminate on the more quiet serbs.

I've been trying to look at your pictures since this morning but my internet was being irredeemable garbage and shit wasn't loading.
I had to pause my download on this game I've been trying to download for an entire week now, which I predict I will finally have downloaded by tomorrow, then on Sunday I go back to college, and my internet there is fast enough that I could have downloaded 40gb in an hour or so, so I just wasted a bunch of time at home trying to play Wolfenstein TNO.
At least the internet company recognizes how shitty my connection is and credits my family back the cost of our internet bill at the end of every month. So basically we get the internet for free here, that's how garbage my connection is.

The teal color for the ground is definitely a huge improvement over the kind of magenta it used to be.
I think the fungus designs need a bit more organic shape to them, they look very copypasta'd, even just give them some variation in height or thickness maybe, make them more apparently a natural formation rather than a construction, which they kind of look like now.
Not as big of a fan of the "ice cream" ones as I am of the tiered mushrooms.

I've thought of sorting by online players, but again, I hate to shaft the lower-pop servers. Not that any of the servers here are huge (my server peaks at around 25-30 people at the height of the hours), but there are some good, quiet serbs on the list.

I might just shuffle the list every time the page is loaded. Randomly display the server list. I think that might be the most fair system.


Also, the server list will now be pinging your serbs every 60 seconds to get player statistics, ping time, and MOTD. This will give a more accurate uptime percentage for anyone browsing your serb list.

I'll be removing the voting functionality within the next hour or so as well.

Any comments/questions/concerns/"fuck you"s/or just (You)s, hurl em' at me.

The only thing I could think of is giving a list of different columns with different server stats you can sort by. Ping, player count, uptime, average uptime %, and you could have the player voting. That way people can choose what's most important to them.

The players being able to see ping would, imo, be the best to sort by because that doesn't necessarily mean a server is bad or good, but for them in particular it might not be a good choice, good population count or not.

There would be patches of tiberium crystal on the surface. Spreading ones, but at a slow rate. Very slow rate. Like you could ignore one for a week and not have it take over your world.

Blossom trees would increase the rate. Maybe plantable as well. That way you could farm it if you wanted.

Building a refinery, you could turn it into liquid tiberium. Develop stealth tech, cyborg tech, tiberium weapons, bombs, and maybe use it to turn into some blocks.

New tiberium crystal-infused regular mobs could spawn. Heal in tiberium and drop crystals. Mutants might be fun too. Be careful of visceroids though. They can wreck your shit up.

Maybe building and detonating a bomb over a massive patch of blue tiberium would add aliens to the world.
Would be cool. Wish I had time to learn how to mod minecraft.

No, you lag a lot when you do things, anything.
Fun is proportional to lag, this is true in any creative game.

Lag can be decreased by doing less things, spreading things across chunks, installing optimization mods such as optifine and fastcraft, getting faster RAM or a better CPU.

And there's no reason to use mek and icey jew together unless you want to.
They're simply both mods that have non-vanillafag/ftbshitter/retard tier power sources.

My towers are nearly finished. The mana glass and painted glowstone give off enough light to keep mobs from spawning on the parapets. I'm still debating whether or not I'm going to put tower caps on them like I did my last castle.

How do you stack ingots with IngotPyramid installed? Just right clicking or shift right clicking with 5 different types of copper ingots didn't work, so I guess there's more to it than that. I also added that one anon's color schemes to IP's config file. Am I missing a dependency?

And that's only because BC and IC got relatively viral among the community, and Technic helped it even further along. Then everyone started playing copycat, since those were the popular mods.

Personally, I think a 3D Terraria, except maybe a bit more sandboxy, would be the best general thing Minecraft could have been. Engineering is fun, but it isn't the one and only end all be all of Minecraft.

Minecraft just seems to lend itself very well to a complex industrial autism setting, mostly due to it being voxel based, and already having a solid base for mining and building.

Minecraft yields itself to combat as much as any other first person game. Hell, it would be awesome if you had Dark Messiah's combat and abilities, as you could build the death traps yourself. Minecraft's biggest issue concerning combat is that the enemies are all poorly designed for it. I would actually like the combat changes in more recent versions if the distinction between combat swings and non-combat swings were better, and if the mobs were actually overhauled for it.

What would make a stack of IngotPyramid ingots not display their colors? I checked to make sure that the names used for the colorless ingots match up with the exact names (including capitalization) that Ore Dictionary uses for them, and they match. Vanilla Minecraft gold ingots display without any problems but, out of copper ingots from five different mods and aluminum ingots from Immersive Engineering, none of them show up correctly. I'm guessing all other modded ingots won't display properly either. I copied and pasted that one anon's very long config file that no one claimed to have any problems with and I've restarted the server several times, but nothing seems to work. Does anyone know what's up with this?
