Its a lot of fun in PvP when you spec seal of command. Healing is cool because its somewhat relaxed as you only cast one spell 95% of the time.

You also have an addon for buffing so its literally just one click every 15 mins in raids, not really that big of a deal.

Overall its fun because you can heal, dps or tank 5mans up to level 60.

Its the best healing class in the game. FACT. Don't listen to the shitposters in the thread. They are either horde cucks or crying because they can't play their special snowflake ret spec and be viable.

Ret dps is not viable in raids.

"Doing no damage" isn't exactly true. You'll do less than warriors/shamans/rogues but, if the stars align, you can dish out quite a lot with 2x melee/Seal of Casino you'll make up for it with your defensive abilities. You're a reactive class with only one tool at your disposal (Hammer of Justice), which is actually really fucking good - a 6 second stun.

However, you'll be kited to oblivion and won't be able to interrupt spells. Plus all your good spells can be cast as Holy, which will make people bitch if you don't cast that Blessing of Freedom on a Warrior.

Still, if you can get a powerful 2h weapon, you can have quite a lot of fun with those huge crits. And you can get a shield+1h to make those Rogues/Warriors cry.

Paladins are really good pvp with reckoning, technically not ret but you use a cool 2h. There are lots of webms flaoting around of pallys oneshotting other players and bosses with reckoning stacks.

Level IS kinda boring because you just auto attack, but you have a lot of stamina in combat. I remember fighting worgens in duskwood for a solid 20 minutes because I wanted a chest and they kept respawning. You can tank 5 mans fine if you spec for it, but people will still give you shit for it. your dps falls off pretty hard around level 40. The main benefit is rolling pally is how rich you are because there are hardly any spells and you get a free mount. I always splurged on armour enchants.
