FW has a large arsenal of long range weapons that gives you plenty opportunity to snipe stuff from Rooftops far away.
Or hide between building walls where tyou can't be reached by most attacks.
Or hide on top of sewer pipes, or even hanging from them, shooting down, or even hanging from the side of buildings shooting.

Everything you see in the Opening video is correct advertisement which are based on in-game mechanics.

Here in this shot, I'm hiding inside a lars bulding in a little room the abductor can't reach.

So real talk about the gameplay. It is not at all bad, in fact on the harder difficultly it's actually a challenge. The problem is that some people played the easy mode and coasted through the game, the easy mode is there for people that just want the story. So if you played the easy mode don't complain about the game play. It would be like playing ToCS on easy and complaining about how not deep/easy the game is.

Also I find that a lot of the people that did not like the gameplay, do not like SRPG. Obviously if you don't like srpg games then just play the easy mode and coast through the game. If you love SRPG you will be a little disappointed with the lack of customization, however the challenges are there and your tool kit is what characters you take to a battle as they all have strong and weak points.

The game limits the amount of characters you can field and every character is VERY unique and brings a special skill set, not only that but some characters are compulsory on certain missions while others will not be available. So if you focus on leveling just a few characters you are going to get shitted on in some stages. All the characters are balanced and bring something, there are no bad ones.

I found the game play to be fun, very fun. However, the missions account for MAYBE 2-3 hours of gameplay per game on easy while skipping the optional stuff in the second game. Compared to the 25-30 hours you will spend simply reading vns, it's not intrusive at all, and you often see the battles coming.

Just equip one of the many Assault rifles the game has. Most people use this method. But most of the time they die due to this, because they aren't careful.

There a bit of a misconception in FW community, people think you do more damage the close to the abductor you shoot, but this is not the case. So long as you are within Thorn Length, you will do that same damage.

Just pick the right weapons for the right job.

Verity Works like this:

Verity Level 4 = +8% Chance to Critical hit.
Verity Level 3 = +6% Chance to Critical hit.
Verity Level 2 = +4% Chance to Critical hit.
Verity Level 1 = +2% Chance to Critical hit.

And Divine Fox Cutter Weapon has either 47% Critical chance, or 48% critical chance.

So to make it simple, if you can get a Divine Fox weapon and three Verity 4 mods, you get around ~72% chance to Critical hit.
Which is insane.

There are many good mods like Devastation, and Fervor which synergise well with Critical hits.

DT2's dungeon design ruined the game for me. They felt over designed with too many dead ends. It made expoloration a punishment, and I'm the kind of guy that like to explore every tile. I felt like my curiosity was punished more than is was rewarded, which is just bad design, especially when the few times you actually do find a treasure chest it almost always has trash in it.

I still loved the game for the combat and boss fights.
But fuck the postgame and artificial difficulty "choose a door and if you choose the wrong one you get teleported back to the start" dungeon design. I can deal with the regular traps since they're just a nuisance and can be countered with team compositions and planning ahead, but 12 teleports back to the starting room on the same floor is where I draw the line

Notice those Divine Fox Gauntlets though... 48,49% isn't too shabby either.
For what it's worth, Gauntlet's Flurry spam can become ridiculously fast with the right mods.
And when you combine that 1394 raw damage per hit with the fast pace of attack and that high critical chance, it'... well devastating.

Knives and Scythe and kings of Arial damage though.

When you are airborne, the Dual Knives build up destroyer even faster than on the gorund. That's its great advantage, you kick ass for parts the Gauntlets can't reach.

There are a lot of hidden mechanics in toukiden which is never revealed to the player, but you just have to feel your way though the game.

For example the S&C looks like they suck because they don't attack fast, and they don't have highest damage. But the game has a secret mechanics that boost the S&C when the character is flying with the glowing hands. This boost is an unknown percentage, but it increase the damage by A LOT. You have to feel your way through the game, but once you get your have on a good Sickle&Chain you can just feel there is a boost in flight damage and a boost in Destroyer build-up.

It was really awsome, because I made the horrible mistaking of buying the vita version. Now I have all 3 and can honestly say there is no reason to buy any atelier game on the vita anymore. I've just finished Golden Abyss. What a wonderful game. It's not my favourite but it's objectively the best game I've ever tried on Vita (Yeah I feel like a disgusting normie for saying that, but that's how I feel).
