Jekyll/Hyde worked in a repressed universe of Victorian sensibility but not so much on the logic of fate, so is reimagined to fit the big themes. Even in the purest heart, there is evil, and the greater good it is, the greater evil it could become to balance it. That's kind of the moral of the story.

I think it kinda works. Jekyll created the drug as a means of escape from a community that he felt was suffocating him with its restrained sensibilities and repressing social norms. He initially wanted to act debauched and savage. Of course he came to regret his actions later, but it's fair to note that his wish for Hyde is at the core of the story and his character, even if he at first did not fully understand what a character like Hyde would be like.

But to get to the point, I think you could easily relate this to the themes if identity juggled between Shirou and Kirei in FSN. That's the angle that comes to mind when I think about this, anyway.
