The reason other WARs pull with Unchained is because it's safer, plain as that. It's not worth the "risk" to people when you barely lose DPS by pulling with defiance up for your first 4 GCDs, but in a speedkill where every bit of damage is significant it's worth it.

As a side note WAR shouldn't need shadewalker at all if they're pulling with unchained and you'd be better off saving it for the DRK when they provoke.

I'm going to start playing FFXIV, I've only ever played a few trials here and there, but I've made the jump and just ordered the game.

Any suggestions on what server to use for someone from EU?

Also, bigger question.. I've only ever played Tanks/Support in MMO's before, mainly a DK/Monk tank in WoW until I got bored. Really loved BrM's in Legion, and thinking I might jump into Warrior or eventually Dark Knight on FFXIV. Sound like a good move for a noob to this game? Or am I shooting myself?

Worst case you can use smokescreen.
So, I don't really see why this isn't a common pull, even though the dps gain is tiny.

Most EU servers are fine. I think Odin and Cerberus are the two big ones? They're all at least decently population but Moogle has a French majority IIRC.

As for tanking, Dark Knight is seen as a main tank and Warrior an offtank, but you'll still need to level Gladiator/Paladin in order to get Provoke, which is required for the other two.

Warrior is safe to do early on and DRK is neat to play. War will build you up to knowing various combos which DRK has going for it as well. Not to mention balancing MP
