Well, shit. I was going to play as a male Nightingale, as with AntAgonizier and Miss Fortune my hero team is starting to feel more like a slumber party, but it turns out the guy who ported it to FO4 didn't do the cloak right for makes.

I guess he could have last the cloak, but that would feel like a cop out. I had this idea of an epic Skyrim playthrough for him before ending up in FO4 due to denying Mora, but while I can do much the same for a female, thinks always get a bit sexy because I'm a guy and sexmods exist.

It's a great rifle, but the real limiting factor is it's only good on soft targets since it doesn't have any AP options.

And it's heavy. Soft targets are soft, easily taken care of with a light weight sidearm, not a nearly 10 weight rifle.

It's a weird niche weapon that's good at the wrong things for what it is.

That just removes a pretty neat gameplay mechanic. Armored targets need AP ammo. Soft targets get Hollow Points. Can be lazy and just stick with regular FMJs or do hand loads with their 1.65/2 multipliers which kind of almost split the difference.

If only they combined DT and DR and straightened out damage types all nice we could have a damn good damage/defense system.

It's probably more of a vanilla thing that you can't really fix. All the blemishes on his probably light, white skin make his face darker than his normal skin tone, and since you can't put any blush or rash on the top of your head, it's going to be noticeably lighter than his face.

Best bet? Give him full head of nasty hair.

Guys I've been running into the this bug and I have no idea what to do about it.

Pretty much I walk into certain buildings but I can't move, my companions, all the other NPCs, and clutter are all on me.

Couldn't get a good picture, hopefully you guys can make something of it, I think it has something to do with the cells but I'm not sure

Use the Unequip Pip-Boy mod. In 3rd person you don't seem to be wearing it, unless you equip it cosmetically, and it still works as normal.

As for the Stealth suit, you don't remember Operation Ancorage, do you? You could argue that it's because asian stereotype, but the Crimson Dragoons were the only NPCs in game to do shit like drop down from twenty feet, acrobatics, and shit. The suit was more that just purely a permenant pip-boy even then. And no one is forcing you to use the mods for it.

I think it's fun as fuck, personally.

It's not THAT bad, I mean, some of the modders we do have are pretty good, we've got stuff like the X-02 mod and large scope questmods, weapons and armor or fantastic quality, and that's just the normal stuff.

How does this look for an 'Enclave supply drop'? The idea is that only the SS is a proper officer, and the Minutemen are going to be more legitimized militia/sanctioned police force. Thus the single suit of X-02, and the frames that when I do it for real will have decent quality X-01 parts.

I want it so that the Enclave seems to be supplying them with with some amazing gear, giving them a real chance at setting up (and really, they are, as the crates will be full of laser weaponry, energy cells, clean uniforms and combat armor, and an actual situation map), when they are really just giving them the dregs of a warehouse and a dead soldiers armor.

Anything I could add or should take away?

My 'vision' is that the SS will get the only suit of X-02 not worn by an Enclave cameo character (Julia will be wearing Hellfire, if the team have released it by then). His companions will get the best gear, such as max-spec X-01 and T-60 and a Chinese Stealth Suit. The Minutemen personally loyal to the General, at the Castle, will get the six pristine suits of power armor, and best-tier combat armor and clean fatigues and laser/plasma/gatling/gauss weapons. The guards at his settlements will get a laser rifle and a combat chest piece and helmet. The 'traditional' Minutemen who come by flare will not be considered part of the sanctioned group, only allowed to operate as long as they don't act like raiders. (The ones who give me shit when I go pick up the scientist are in for a bad day.) Ghoul 'settlers' will be executed on sight.

The Institute will be much more simple. I just mock up a Directorate meeting with General Autumn, and then replace the Gen2 Guards with proper Enclave soldiers and a few officers set to sandbox to assure loyalty. Done. The wasteland never needs know that the Enclave control their hope/heroes AND their boogieman.

Playing it straight, but some photoshopping dialog in (the devs used Roboto Condensed font, so you can actually make 'real' looking dialog by just taking screenshots of a dialog without subtitles, and writing whatever shit in you want), and generally keeping it low-key.

Plotwise, Nate is already recognized and his record recovered by a pre-war sentry bot. The Enclave likely still has it in dusty files. The plan is for them to have interest in the Institute, and come check on 111 opening. SS comes to investigate, and by then they will have heard radio freedom, and offer to re-instate him to service with a promotion to Captain. ED-E, thanks to the mod, will be his aid and also relay orders.

If it actually goes anywhere and is decent, I might also use Enclave Resurgent. Maker is making another release next week.

Vanilla game looks like ass, and I enjoy more playing with an ENB. I makes lights better, the game doesn't look plain and boring, there's some actual visual depth and textures look more crisp, and refined; colors are more vibrant, and everything in general seems more "cinematic", which is maybe why someone doesn't really like ENBs.

ENB does literally nothing to the textures. Fuck all for the actual lighting system. As for the colours it's basically an instagram filter. If you're gonna both namefag and image dump can you at least not be retarded when you do it.

All that's going on in that image is the colour palette is washed out, there's a grain filter and the lights just have more 'spill' area. If you're gonna fag out about how great and cinematic these effects are then actually get good ones. If not, shut up about it.

And I'm not buying that either unless you have a re-texture package installed. Not knocking your use of ENB's, but you can't go around saying textures look more crisp on an ENB when all it does is adjust lighting and colors, and maybe provide a nice filter.

I hate Armorsmith Extended because all its done is make people focus on making little bits of clothing instead of complete outfits. So the clothing section is littered with generic under-armor, scarves, goggles etc.

Years of modding has taught me not to install mods that add more shit than they're supposed to, and ASE is one of those mods.

I had the same problem when I reinstalled the game a few weeks ago. What I did was verify integrity of game cache and then run the game from steam (not NVSE, 4gb patch or the .exe), so it can install the directx stuff. That fixed it for me, but if it doesn't work, you could always try reinstalling the game.

There is literally no reason NOT to use Mod Organizer 1. NMM is the definition of shit, manual installing is a nightmare with more than a dozen mods, and MO2 is broken, buggy, and in a current mess.

MO\s last release in late 2015 still works just fine. It installs just fine, functions just fine. The only "missing" feature is Nexus website support, which was already pointless anyway and isn't there anymore due to Nexus itself, not MO.

Long story short, use MO. MO2 may become better later on, maybe not. Just remember the old saying, which is tried and true for modding and always has been:

"If it isn't broken, don't fix it."

Another advantage of MO is being able to dynamically adjust overwrites. Instead of being stuck with one folder and a final decision on files to replace, you can just adjust your load order at any time. Want to replace a texture pack with a new one but keep some of the old files? Instead of deleting and starting over, just install the new one and slip it underneath the old one in your load order. If you ever want to go back, delete it, done.

I've been modding Bethesda games since Morrowind and I would never recommend anyone use NMM. It's one of the worst managers out there, because it lets its users believe they are in control and have a high degree of customization when in reality they have virtually none.

You're right that MO2 is terrible, but there's literally no reason to stop using regular old MO anyway. It works perfectly fine for everything from Oblivion to FO4, it gives you the best customization, the highest control, the most versatility, and the cleanest installations. It's convenient because you can have a dozen different mod setups and switch between them at-will without having to manually reorganize everything, and it makes adding and removing mods even simpler than NMM.

If you use NMM then fine, but you don't get to claim it can compete with MO or manual installations, because it objectively can't. It's slowly moving in the right direction but it's nowhere near where it needs to be and won't be for awhile.

I think it depends on what look you're going for. I think the vanilla armours are decent if you're going for a mad-max kind of vibe.
But because I'm using the Modern Weapons mod all armours are essentially useless because 2-3 good shots with any of the weapons will be enough to end me. So may as well ditch these for now and try a wild-west aesthetic or something.

Unlock Ballistic Weave if you haven't already. Essentially lets you layer 100+ resistance on top of your armor through your clothes per piece you're wearing. So hat + clothes would be 200+ or you can use Mk 1-4 if you think Mk 5 is too powerful.

If you're looking for good weapon mods, it kind of depends on what you want. There's a few good AK mods (one adds an AK-74, some variants, and an RPK) and there was a recent VSS+AS Val release. MikeMoore has a couple good looking mods, though I personally don't like the textures, so I haven't used them. Lt_C released the DKS that mimics the sniper rifles from FO1 through FNV.

Effectively brace for moments like this throughout the game, where there seems to be a build up to a particular event or quest or explanation and it never comes. Sometimes we have evidence of it being a slashed questline, other times it seems motivated by a writing style that is deliberately open and indefinite so the player chooses their own reality.

I find it all rather frustrating, because it produces a kind of artifical shallowness. I say artificial because you know the devs have thought about all the depth possible in the plot, they simply do not provide it.

That's more or less the "skeleton" of the gun, I'm gonna be adding a more traditional box-like attachment for the turbo version, and a sleeker design for the overclocked. And there's also more bits and greebles I'm gonna add to it in general.

I don't really like the box + prong design, I wanted to make something a bit more visually interesting. The prong will also be an optional upgrade, and increase damage and speed of projectile.

Depends on how varied you intend to have the gun, I suppose. I have an AK mod that has two versions for each receiver, for example. A regular version (automatic, semi-auto, enhanced version) and then a 'special' version that unlocks at ~Lv60 that has increased damage. I have another mod that has only the regular receiver, but then a separate mod area that lets you increase the damage in 20% increments, since level scaling can be stupid. I believe some of the asXas mods even let you decide in the installer whether you want to inflate the gun's damage.

I've seen some mods have accuracy bonuses separate from the scope and stock mods, since they might want to use the pistol model, but want to have the accuracy bonus of a rifle. A minor example would be using various scopes, and then a separate category that lets you set the zoom range to 1.5x or 3.0x.

For this, you could have the prong add bash damage, change the fire rate, etc. similar to the plasma rifle, but like I said, just offer the ability to artificially pad the stats. Rather than starting it as OP, let the player decide if they want to make it OP. Have the default be serviceable, though, so it's not complete shit, just keep the inflation in mind.

Basically double the mod slots, so you have the aesthetic barrel mod, then you would have the projectile type mod that has no visual appearance.

It would have some inconsistencies for your mod since you wanted a spinning barrel for the automatic variant, and having the projectile, fire rate, and barrel be different mods might cause problems.

Playing around with FCOM in the creation kit, to make Enclave officers wear the modded outfit and Buff's ported cap, and the soldiers wear X-02. Should be fun. I'm still not used to the changes in the kit. I have no clue how to give certain 'outfits' a material other than the base if it's power armor.

On another note, I wish I was skilled enough to do a small Streetwalker mod for ambiance. No interactions, just a presence. A few downtrodden looking hookers wandering Goodneighbor, and one in the Third Rail or hotel. A single more subtle one in Diamond City, of a woman in a vanilla dress just leaning against a wall in Valentine's red-lit street/alley.

This is what I had in mind. I don't know how you intended to set it up, and you can keep the idea of receivers and barrels like there are for regular guns. Have a separate mod category that is purely there to inflate the stats (damage, accuracy, range, value, etc.) that's separate from the mods that actually alter how the gun functions or visually appears (fire rate, flamer, semi-auto versus automatic, silencer, muzzle brakes). That's what I had in mind. For example, what if someone wanted to use the Plasma Caster as a flamer, but the base damage was set to 20. Maybe some players find 20 to be a good default before perks, but maybe someone wants a Flamer Plasma Caster, but finds the damage to be underwhelming. Then they can set the damage 'mod' to +60% and have the base damage be 32 instead.

...Okay, this is starting to irritate me. So, dependencies work a bit different in FO4. Just ticking the mod, adding the armor to an NPC outfit, and then saving apparently isn't how it works anymore.

After replacing the X-01 parts with the X-02 mod parts, and saving, the plugin I make shows no dependency on the X-02 mod and they turn up in bare power armor frames. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

I'm not 100% sure but I'm pretty sure you have to make one of the esp's an active file, and the active esp will get all the stuff checked from the other esps..or it should.

Here's an example of what I was talking about, by the way. The only difference between the Standard and Special Receiver is an increase in damage, no cosmetic change. Take note that the +% Damage is its own, lone category. +0% to +80% in 20% increments, then +99%. That's what I was talking about as it being its own separate category. Maybe 253 damage is too high for another player, so maybe they'd drop it from +99% to only +20% or +0% and use only the default base damage.

Solved it in a quick and dirty way, and there was likely an easier one. I just make X-02, Enclave Officer Outfit, and your Port pack into ESMs in FO4Edit, and that let me make them all dependencies.

Yeah, that was one of the things that really made me struggle with exploring in FO4. It killed any sense of immersion. Only reason to delve was bobbleheads.

So, question /fog/. Do you mod Goodneighbor, or do you not bother? It just feels so fucking empty and underdeveloped, as though they weren't finishes with it by half and just said fuck it when they hit the deadline.

Goodfellow's Glorified Goodneighbor makes the layout feel better, and the entrance match what you see if you look at the town from above, but it makes it feel even more empty if possible because you are pretty much right next to everything right away. Likely why they changed the planned (that you can see in the LOD if you are a roof leaping vigilante) layout.

Better Goodbeighbor just fills it with shit and makes it messier.

Welcome to Goodneighbor looks interesting, and I'm going to actually test it in a few minutes, but it bugs me that it extends the area, and likely the outside won't match anymore. That bothers me on a primal level.

Would it have killed someone to have just decided "Right, I'll make good use out of all these doors that are boarded up or blocked off, in obviously large and multistory buildings, and make use of the rooftops and vertical space."

The Diamond City mod that adds a few new houses in the bleachers, and some that are purely cosmetic behind a barrier, goes a long way to 'fixing' DC. I especially like that they put the Brahmin in pens and the plants in a greenhouse.

However, faction preferences if you like to play favorites, is by far the most subjective facet of fo4. Alright, let me use an existing weapon as an example.

The 10mm Pistol.

By default, it has
>Receiver
>Barrel
>Grip
>Magazine
>Sights
>Muzzle

Receiver is pretty much only a stat attachment since Normal, Calibrated, Advanced, whatever all look the same. So no change here.

The Barrel actually changes the appearance. You have Short, Long, Long Light, Long Ported, and Long Light Ported. They all have their own unique appearance, as well as having stat changes for Range, Accuracy, and Recoil, and Weight changes.
So by default, the Long Barrel is, in my opinion, the most attractive barrel version. It looks like the classic N99 and has a nice looking flat muzzle profile. But, stat wise it only has the basic range bonus, is relatively heavy, and doesn't have a hip fire accuracy bonus.
But, for stats, the Long Light Ported Barrel has an okay accuracy bonus, improved recoil and hip fire accuracy, and is light weight. But, it looks like a shitty looking square with holes cut into the side and doesn't have that sexy looking barrel weight.

Basically what they want is to instead of having one "Barrel" mod slot, you have a "Barrel Appearance" and "Barrel Stat" mod slot.
So say I want the appearance of the basic "Long Barrel" mod but the accuracy and recoil bonuses of the Long Light Ported Barrel. In the "Barrel Appearance" mod slot, I equip the Long Barrel, which only changes the model but has no stats associated with it. Then, in the "Barrel Stat" mod slot, I equip an invisible mod that has the accuracy and recoil bonuses of the Long Light Ported Barrel, but none of the ugly boxy appearance.

So for the Plasma Caster, your Long Barrel, Flamer, and Prong Barrel, are just cosmetic mods and your projectile type is a different mod slot.
So say I really like the Flamer Barrel's look, but I want a long range projectile. I can equip the Flamer Barrel, just for its looks, and in a separate mod slot I can equip your "plasma bolt" mod.

Well, if I can't do it that way, I have an idea, which is lore friendly since it was technically in New Vegas:

Make Overclocked receiver change the ammo type to a new ammo type, like Overcharged Plasma, which can be crafted at a workbench using the plasma caster ammo I'm going to make, and make it require 2x plasma caster ammo to craft. Or 1.5x anyway.

I'm going to make plasma caster ammo craftable as well, using 2 glass, 2 aluminum, and 100 plasma cartridges to make 1 plasma canister with 100 ammo. Then 2x plasma canisters will make overcharged plasma canisters for overclocked. I might adjust the recipe though because 200 plasma cartridges to make 1 overcharged ammo with 100 rounds might be a small amount of ammo for most people if they condensed all their cartridges.

Also I'm gonna try making the ammo for the thing, when inserted into the plasma caster, to look like this.

In general, New Vegas did faction mechanics poorly because the whole faction reputation system worked on NPCs being magically psychic, and knowing everything you did, even if they had no reason to know you did it.

It eliminated any possibility of playing the sides like you can in Fallout 4, and only created bizarre and illogical situations like

I have barely played New Vegas and have no other experience with Obsidian. I never defended how it was implemented, just that it's better with varying degrees of relationship rather than just ally or enemy. What was stated is that it's an item of clothing that from either end of its existence has more bearing in periods that are not related to Fallout besides stereotypical farmer types .
