I played it till 93-94 last league and i'm playing it again now , it is still mechanically strong and most people underrate it because it has a playstyle that was more fitting in ambush than breach. The only downside is that its namelock and actually melee so in super dense areas you can get mob blocked and you have to put yourself in super high risk areas to deal damage.

Hardcore players do whatever they deem the most safe build. Of course there are some who are doing some more unique builds with the new unique items or some older builds (like earthquake, warchief totems) that are a bit weak right now.

As for life vs ES, as long as you can bypass ES weaknesses (status ailments, stun and energy shield recharge) it's utterly broken. Vaal pact + ghost reaver is just completely broken and it's retarded its still in the game and wasn't removed in 2.5 even though I made a post on forums and reddit saying that it's completely broken and has to go.

The nature of vaal pact + ghost reaver makes it so that with the largest HP pool possible because you're using ES, you also have the most insane defense in the form of insane leech once you get in damage.

Some nerfs to ES and small buffs to life are needed, it was said before 2.5 even went live. Balance team is just oblivious to the state of game as usual. Earthquake slayer

Very strong, very good but falls off in t14+ and requires massive investment to play there in hardcore leagues. ES is just too good at the moment, and if ES was nerfed to the point life is better I would probably make a build to farm t11-14 since the XP difference between them and T15-16 isn't that big anymore.

Melee is one skill at this point, maybe 2 if you count blade flurry. The only 2 viable skills are earthquake and blade flurry for melee. That's it. The damage values of other skills on a 2h besides earthquake are at best 60-70% as efficient, but with waaaay worse AoE.

I don't really get it either, there are a few skills that are just sooo much better than anything else that is similar. It's not just with melee look at some spells as well. You have stuff like blight, lightning tendrils, freezing pulse, EK (now completely obsolete compared to blade flurry and blade fall), ice spear, glacial cascade, arc , they all are very bad and it's nigh impossible to make a good build with these skills for t12+ maps. Why even bother using these skills if they're 30% as efficient as flameblast?

I think glacial cascade was GGG's idea of a better freezing pulse but it's still bad. The cold spells are just bad.

Some of the lightning ones are horrid as well. Most fire skills are very strong.

Ice Crash was supposed to be a better version of glacial hammer. But if you compare ice crash to Earthquake, Earthquake has a better AoE, no attack speed reduction and is 100% physical (which means you won't get screwed pver as much by enemy resistances). Ice crash is like 50% as efficient as earthquake. On top of that it has less AoE.

It's not even hard for GGG to address this issue, just outright buffing ice crash will solve it, removing attack speed penalty, increasing its AoE or removing the penalty on the radius. Same goes for groundslam, if the damage and AoE is increased these skills can work.

But as of right now there is no real reason to go anything else than earthquake. If ice crash was 90% as efficient (still worse) you still had a possible option to make a build with it that might outperform earthquake or where you benefit from the cold damage part. But if it's only around 50% as efficient as earthquake that just isn't possible.

I just farmed those challenges, I had to run catacombs in A3 maybe 40 times to get the spawn. Others were found just by leveling, doing full clear.
So, it won't take very long exactly but it's tedious as fuck to run the same maze-like low level area that many times.
So check the wiki and start farming, might take 5 minutes or might take 2 hours.
