Dagda doesn't have full control of you at all times. He has to exert force to do that. What's more, his plan involves needing you to side with him explicitly. Early on he can ignore you disagreeing with him since he still has time to convince you, and in the immediate sense what he needs is to release krishna. At the point where you straight up make a final decision there's nothing he can do other than try to get revenge. When you side with lucifer he makes you into a demon. Dagda can't sap your life energy so he just leaves. And if you side with merkabah, he can try to kill you most likely, but by the time he would you're dead anyways.

Ok so I'm trying which game I should play first in this series and I have narrowed it down to either persona 3 or Nocturne. I'm leaning towards Nocturne because I know nothing about the game, while I know a shit ton about persona 3. Like I kind of know the ending and that certain a character backstabs you, and I already know what most of the characters are like. What do you guys think?

Also I'm not considering persona 4 because I already pretty much know literally everything about the game. The only game in the series that I have actually played is persona 4 arena. It's probably one of my favorite fighting games I have played.

Persona 3 if you like high school life sims, trying to stop the apocalypse, socialising with friends, etc. Nocturne if you like more minimalist storytelling, a darker atmosphere, or interesting dungeons.

If you haven't played any MegaTen then Persona 3 -> Nocturne eases you into the battle system more since it's easier while still having a lot of similarities.

Just restart, you've barely scratched the games surface. In any SMT game, you're gonna want to be minmaxing hard, so pick either DEX for physical or MAG for magical (no mixing, and ignore STR outright because it's broken in vanilla iv) and pump the fuck out of it along with Luck and Agility.

How the fuck do I beat him? For some reason I always do a physical build so my MC is basically useless against him, think I will try a magic build in the next game I play. I've been using Io to try to damage him, got Arioch on her for Evil Wave and Take-Mikazuchi for Matchless. Got anti-most and null phys on her to negate damage. Every time I go to engage him he hits 2 megidos and she dies, I can't even get a hit off on him.

I think he's the hardest boss I've come up against in DeSu. Ookuninushi in the first game seemed like a breeze compared to this.

So, I'm doing the physical build in IV, and I must say it's rather underwhelming.
I feel like if I went full r̶e̶t̶a̶r̶d̶ magic, the MC could be pretty much as overpowered as Nemissa was in Soul Hackers.
Granted I had the mana regen app, I could've just melted every single encounter with almighty spells. And bosses too. Unless late game bosses are immune to almighty.

Same goes for single hit attacks as well. And if they miss, you don't get ANY damage done. Also multi-hit attacks get you a better chance to crit, unless there are some hidden crit modifiers on them.

If one physical hit has 90% chance of hitting, that's a 10% chance to miss. If a multi-hit move has 90% chance to hit and hits three times, that's a 27% chance to miss at least once, which loses you two press turns instead of potentially gaining a half.

You're guaranteed two shots, but one of them can still miss. That means if Myriad Arrows has 10% chance of missing per hit, that's 27% chance to lose two press turns. With Grand Tack/Riot Gun, there's only 10% chance to lose two press turns. Missing would also nullify any benefit from landing a crit.

Also, the game says it's weak, but it does more damage than most weak gun attacks, I'm quite sure.

Yes it is. They say in the interview that despite the infighting never being shown, their different ideologies aren't all the same plan, but them having different plans. They're only united to beat yhvh. And the line odin made is specifically him suggesting his own final goal. The fact that the infighting aspect isn't shown doesn't somehow make all thier plans the same plan. Their entire thing and the theme of the games in general is very different ideologies working together in an alliance. Its not really any different than lucifer and merkabah casually describing their own plans in front of eachother. What you're complaining about is just the shitty writing of iva in general. Dagda specifically points out it's the organizations sales pitch. That's what it is. They get other Gods to join them by offering all souls equally.

And Maitreya being enlightened as a Buddha knows what Krishna wants just like he knows all other truths that are really obvious but had to be spelled oit because humans are dumb. Even ingame if his plan was somehow counter to what Odin or Maitreya wanted the humans and Dagda would have mentioned it, which never happens. Maitreya even complains about not being dependent on others to some extent in the Mitra-Buddha fight if you use your powers for yourself, running counter to his typical argument about relying on others is a crux.

When they mean the other Gods they mean the likes of Beelzebub, Seth, the Kunitsu, etc. The lesser gods who they deceived into joining them or joined because it will be the last chance to spite YHVH. Several times they bring up how the Kunitsu were lied to in order to get them to join.

Not him, but having played through both DDS2 and KMT2, I can say that you're not missing much by not playing the original version for the Famicom.

In KMT, the graphics look better (and KMT is probably the best when it comes to graphics out of all SFC Megaten games, only to be rivaled by Majin Tensei 1-2), updated demon artwork looks great, scrolling is more smooth, Auto-Mapping feature was added, not to mention some new bonus content.
The only gripe I had with KMT version is the music - for the most part, it sounds pretty good, but some tracks sound inferior, compared to the original versions (Ex-Convict). And as >>165074085 mentioned, for some reason, they removed the level up theme, but you can live with that.

Personally, I'd rather have Debisama, P2EPP and Majin Tensei games translated (but DDS2 and PS version of If would've been nice, too).

Its poorly expressed line the lines about what literally every character in the game actually wants. But that's just odin's idea, not the powers as a whole. That makes no sense. Why would dagda mention that of all things. He hates their plans. Whether its one plan or multiple is irrelevant. He doesn't even offer much in the way of critiques of it at all. The humans never say almost anything about any of these plans other than "they're bad." And odin is the first one who tells you anything about their plans. So they aren't comparing it with anything.

The game took out the scenes showing nuance about what the different characters actually want. That's why none of this is mentioned. Hell, the human characters barely even have any lines distinguishing the angels and fallen, and even then only because and when they're actually fighting, not when they are teamed up.

To give a real answer, I think the point of nocturne was that the logic of the world breaks down between worlds, and so the sides that exist in the vortex world may be very different from the sides as they exist in the normal ones. So archetypes of demons can manifest following a different logic than regular.

The demons associated with the different reasons seem random. But there may be some logic to it. Shijima is buddhist inspired. Devas are a good thing in buddhism, despite being zoroastrian devils. So the king of devas despite being a demon lord in zoroastrianism would be a king of good gods in buddhism. So palying with that idea lets you take a devil figure, and other devil figures in fallens, and depict them as orderly buddhist figures.

For yosuga, baal is another name for marduk, a babylonian god. And some aspects of angel lore came from babylon. Since bel is depicted as a chaotic god in desu (despite being conflated with order in SJ) the implication may simply be that bel wants to take back over the archetypes that yhvh took from him, and go down a path of chaos with them.

The above two ideas are actually super interesting. Problem is, the games should have actually expanded on them instead of making them look random. As it is its not even clear if they were intentional.

Even musubi is interesting. Since its presented as an alternate type of neutral, and associated with humans. Massacre is actually a continuation on this line of thought, by depicting "muh anti friendship" alignment as a kind of neutral. I guess since order and chaos both imply multipe things, either getting along or being at odds, so focusing on only one is neither order nor chaos? That's an odd line of thought, especially for massacre, but having nuance to the alignments would have been interesting.

Awakening is really poorly balanced from a gameplay perspective. Maps are open as fuck and the pair up system is blatantly overpowered. The story is okay, I guess. The big thing it has going for it is being a eugenics simulator. At least Fates, particularly Conquest can do that with a well designed battle system and better maps.

So I just finished Revelations: The Demon Slayer on my Game Boy Pocket. I have a backlit GB BOY COLOUR and a bootleg of the English translation of Last Bible II coming in the mail. I liked LB, very chill, grindy kind of Megaten I could space out and play. Are the DemiKids games worth looking into on GBA? Any other portable Megatens I should look for? (I already beat everything on 3DS/DS except DeSus)

I don't know which SRPG have you played to come to that decision, but the DeSu games are really good. At least DeSu:O would make it to my top 5 of megaten games.

At first I was also lukewarm about them because I also didn't like the artstyle nor was a fan of their "strategy" and positioning mechanics, but in the end they ended up winning me over.
