>What is Attorney Online?
In short: It's multiplayer Ace Attorney.
AO is a virtual chatroom/courtroom mix which we use to perform improvised AA-like trials, Civil Cases, Class Trials, Jury Cases and more! Choose from a wide selection of AA characters (and guest characters), pick a position (Defence, Prosecution, Judge, Witness, etc.) and dive into a whirlwind of logic, banter, theories and memes.

First for Kirigiri
Second for lewd athena
So yeah its official. This server has been killed by the very people who helped make it alive.
Back in the last year, I thought /aov/ would thrive due to how lovely the community was. But bit by bit the moderation made mistake after mistake, and the community took notice. They began to complain and this set off a powder keg we have only the moderation to blame. The thread became filled with shitposting due to the lack of contentment with the server community. The moderation could've stopped it by satisfying the community's needs, but instead chose to go a dangerous route and go against those who made them what they are. They thought they were doing the "best thing" for the server, when in actuality their choices were just putting more and more bullets into an already pained creature. The creature took so many bullets it became deformed and ugly. This scared off any newcomers to our server. Eventually people in the community could not take anymore and left. And since our community was not getting any new players, our population was coming down fast. The moderation sought to improve this, so lupadim invited /drg/ to CT here. Unfortunately that was not the solution as they're inclusion brought only more discontent within the /aov/ community, leading to more loss in the population.
Our server was on the brink of death. Now here recently they've invited 4x2 chan to play. And come they did, because it was christmas break and they had time to. However this increase in population will not last long, and already our numbers are decreasing back into the void.
By March, Aov will be dead. There is nothing we can do about this. It was completely avoidable, but it seems the people in charge just didn't care to avoid it, instead focused on their own manifestos.
So what happens then? Our server will be mostly barren, save for a few people who will get on. They won't case. Just use the game as a chat room. Many other servers have fell into this state. And soon we will too.
>>164957298
so what do you suggest? concrete things rather than abstract ideas such as "the moderation needs to do better" etc

I think we should add sprites for Nani from Lilo and Stitch in. I think she would be a great addition to the game, both in a fun and sexual way. The sprites she has in Lilo and Stitch 2- Electric Boogaloo would be a perfect fit in. She even comes with her own "Objection!" line straight from the game.

Absolutely pathetic
>>164957298

We've already survived a year.
We're not going to die anytime soon.
The only thing dying right now is this general, which is for the best at this point as it only serves to weaken the community more.

This
Lewdton literally does absolutely nothing at all. If it was up to him he'd probably just let the whole thing crash and burn.
Adam is just an asshole who abuses his mod powers and doesn't actually do anything unless half the fucking server is telling him otherwise.
Why the fuck Namu even has mod powers is beyond me. I don't think I've seen him do a single fucking thing in months.
Ginamod is proof that mod selection has absolutely nothing to do with credentials and it's just purely circlejerk.
Lupadim fucked up a bit yea, but the mods that were chosen under Lewdton are universally all shit with not a single redeemable factor in any of them.
I mean let's just look at a single fucking user, River, to see how shitty this fucking mod team is.
River/Frenzy since he became a meme has:
>Literally admitted in front of multiple mods that he actively shitposts to piss people off.
>Purposefully crashed several cases that had mods in there but got away scot free.
>Pony posted several fucking times.
>Has admitted to ban evasion countless times.
>Provoked several people into quitting the game.
>Has influenced at least 3 people to consistently shitpost with him.
>Has OUTRIGHT FUCKING ERP'D IN AREAS AND LOUNGE MULTIPLE TIMES
>Has chased off countless newbies by saltposting cases until they died.
And to top it all off he has came out and said that he will defend the mod's actions the second they actually permaban him but they haven't yet.
River is a living fucking example of how fucking bad this moderation team is. He is nothing but toxic to the community and yet he hasn't been perma'd yet.
Captcha: Click on the pictures with Rivers.
>>164983283
>mods that were chosen at complete random turn out to be complete shit
Gee whoda thunk it.
I wanted to remake these animations ever since I first did these, but I just can't resize them without them getting blurry.
I think it's just a lost cause for me.
>>164983283
>the mods that were chosen under Lewdton are universally all shit
Except we haven't gotten any new mods since Lupa left. Ginamod was chosen by Lupa months ago.
The only thing that's changed about mods since Lupa left is Kirigiri mod quitting.
>>164983283
>He believes hope is absolute good, and any deed done in the name of hope is righteous, even murder. He feels no guilt for hurting others in the name of hope, as he believes that hope will always win in the end and justify the means.
>He has a strong desire to be useful and he is very self-sacrificing, but his ways of helping are often very wrong, harmful and potentially very dangerous, as he is willing to cause temporary despair in order to have hope born from it. He has little regard for his own well-being and doesn't care for his own life, and encourages the other students to kill him to achieve their own hope. He believes that dying for the sake of hope is an honor and the only way for "someone like [him]" to be useful to the world.
>Nagito believes his views on hope are logical and extremely obvious, and has trouble relating to others when they disagree. Though he is very stubborn, he has changed his ways of thinking during the series. He is sometimes conflicted between his extreme beliefs and his own feelings. He calls himself "worthless trash" that doesn't deserve any kindness from others, but at the same time, he desires to be appreciated, loved and understood. In his fifth free-time event, Nagito revealed that his true, biggest wish is to be loved by someone at least once in his life, and to not die alone.
>>164983283
>but the mods that were chosen under Lewdton
None were.
All mods were picked by Lupa via going into an area and asking if anyone wanted to be a mod.
>>164983283
The mods in general are garbage, yeah, but it's not like we have any real candidates to replace the ones we've got, unfortunately. Anyone I can think of would do about as well.
The question is: how do you change moderator behavior to not be lazy as fuck?

Honestly I think the only reason why the mods don't ban River is because they want to keep him around as a reminder as to why they are there in the first place.
That's really the only logical explanation that I can think of, I mean it's not like the guy hasn't broken rules before. I think the only rule he hasn't broken at this point is rigging server polls with IP evasion.
How do you get this colour effect in photoshop?
>>165021208

If he's doing it to submit it, he's saved time. At 8 no, 3 yes, it's clear only a minority want it.

How do I replace colours in a sprite with an exact colour?
I know photoshop has a "replace colour" tool but you can't select a colour to change it to, you can only mess around with the options to put a mask layer on top of it, and there doesn't seem to be a way to mess with it to get the exact colour I want.
Is there any easy way to just switch one colour with another one I already have picked out?I'm doing it for AO stuff and I don't really know where else to ask this.

Because it plays in one place in the game, the credits., so it's easy to not remember it. It's a shame, because it contains almost all of the motifs for the songs from AAI, and is generally a nice piece.
I only know of it because, considering Miles has a Great Revival theme from JFA (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NA-tSeu4MTA) - which was remixed (badly) for DD, and then a Greater Revival theme (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AL50leXaFe8) from AAI2, I thought it was weird that he didn't have one that plays in-game for AAI. Turns out, he does - it's just that the vast majority of players probably don't remember it because it plays during the credits scenes.

Should Great Revival 2009 be added to the music list, seeing as it's AA content?

Fun case, that one.
Why is there a denied poll on the suggestions doc?
Just for thread bumps and to throw some discussion into the thread, can we talk about the MMO acronym (motive, means, opportunity) and how it's gone from a guideline for theories/building cases to the be-all and end-all of any indictment ever made? A lot of times, rather than press the Defense on why certain pieces of evidence exist or details for their theory they'll just refer back to one of the trinity.
>Indictment occurs
>Oh yeah? What did they use to kill the victim?
>Oh yeah? When did they kill the victim?
>Oh yeah? Why did they kill the victim?
And then once the Defense answers those three questions the case is wrapped up. The closest I've recently seen evidence actually directly addressed is "Why are the defendant's prints on the murder weapon?" but that's just a re-phrase of "means". This leads to a lot of cases feeling formulaic, with the only real innovation provided is in bullshitting a motive, because again, Prosecutors push the motive issue to it's breaking point simply because it's usually the hardest to prove.
To flesh out my gist, look at the very first Ace Attorney case. The climactic Turnabout happens when Phoenix proves that a clock was off because the victim traveled with it and didn't reset it. However, had the same case happened in AO, no one would have cared for proving that the clock had been running fast the day of the crime. All the Prosecutor would have done is objected and asked for Sahwit's motive, and with none forthcoming, motioned for a verdict. Hell, they don't even provide Sahwit's motive until AFTER the Not Guilty in a kind of epilogue.
tl;dr Attorneys should move away from MMO as the be-all, end-all of indictments and instead focus on making it fit all existing evidence. Motive should be de-emphasised and replaced with pressing the Defense for details on how their theory accounts for the existence of all evidence.
>>165277558
I don't usually use the MMO thing as a prosecutor. Not because I was against it, but because I just didn't think of it.
>>165278084
Even without knowing the specific acronym, though, I've found that both sides put an absurd amount of stock in those three elements and almost completely disregard evidence after a certain point -- once the Defense proves those three things it's over, if they can't, it's over. No "Prove the witness was at the scene!", no "Is that so? Then tell me why the Defendant's wallet was found at the scene!" It's all just "Why commit the crime? How? When?"
>>165278310
I never see that much either. I'll try to do more things like that the next time I prosecute.
>>165278619
If my post get someone to consider it, I'll consider it mission accomplished!
What people don't realize is that the Prosecution in Ace Attorney games very rarely ever directly refutes the defense with a theory or a rebuttal. They just ask them A) what their explanation is and B) what proof they have of it. Hell, just answering A and backing it up with a contradiction is enough to get the next witness most times. B kicks in when the trial goes down to the wire.I realize the issue here is that it would require more work on the parts of both Prosecutors and Defense Attorneys, but that's the price you pay for originality and less formulaic cases.
>>165279090
I dont agree, I remember Blackquil often turning around defense theories into his favor.
>>165279376
It happens to be sure, but less often than people usually remember. For example, Nahyuta (who was specifically noted for doing it) counter-theorizes around twice in the first case you see with him in it, and less in the second.
Blackquill I can't comment on too muchbecause I didn't like Dual Destiniesbut if you try to recall specific examples you'll probably find there aren't too many.
>>165277558
Means and opportunity are important and mostly vital.
Motive is nothing more than a cockblock and if a Prosecutor's case rests on "but muh motive" just shut that shit down.
>>165283660
Honestly, motive tends to be revealed during the culprit's breakdown.

When I'm judging I do so, but I've seen loads of judges Guilty a case based purely off a missing motive.
>>165287421
So basically the defense can basically prove that the witness did it, but since they don't have a motive, it's guilty?
>>165287421
I can sometimes see that happen
But sometimes the motive really is required.

>>165287421
>but I've seen loads of judges Guilty a case based purely off a missing motive.
That's the thing, we have a ton of really bad judges. That's part of the reason cases take so long - bad judging.
>>165287927
>>165287939
Sometimes both (defendant and indicted witness) have means and opportunity but only the defendant has a clear motive.
That and the witness won't confess either.
>>165288230
Are you saying judges should tell the prosecution that motives are not important?
>>165267561
Votes are tied, so I'm gonna wait until later tonight to decide.
Bump
>>165288795
>Are you saying judges should tell the prosecution that motives are not important?
Not that guy, moreso that witnesses should choose to be Frank Sahwit sometimes over Damon Gant. What I mean by that is sometimes the evidence, the Prosecution, or the case in general is hard enough that the Defense has already done a Turnabout, you don't need a final boss with three testimonies to determine their motive for the crime, nor do you need to keep throwing shit at the wall and seeing what sticks.
Sometimes killers break down on the stand just for having their murders thrown in their faces. Take Redd White for instance. It's gotten to the point where we use the words "Final Boss" and "True Culprit" interchangeably, as if the true culprit HAS to be the one holding the Defense's feet to the fire, rather than the Prosecutor or the case in general.
>>165295487
Or DAs could start asking about connection with victim/defendant at start of testimonies.
>>165296239
Are you trying to say that every witness should just give the Defense an indictable motive just because they asked nicely?
If you ask me, if it doesn't come up during the trial it makes much more sense screaming it during a break-down than it does saying "oh yeah and I really, really hate the victim" at the beginning of every cross-examination.
Also
>muh relevans
>No, I don't know the victim
>Yeah, I know the victim. I love the guy!
Insisting that witnesses start spoonfeeding motives is as short-sighted a "solution" as I've heard.
>>165296563
Who said anything about indictable motive, just reply with: We were friends. We barely knew each other. We were work partners.
Its not much but it gives something defense to work with.
>>165296749
No it doesn't. "We barely knew each other" is a literal non-starter. Might as well say "By the way, I have no motive." The first is the same thing, how does a positive relationship with the victim give the Defense something to work with in terms of a damn motive for murder?
Only the last one is decent in that if outside information implies some kind of mishap at work the Defense can work with that. My point is that pretending there is no issue when a good case stalls out because the indicted witness has no provable motive or relationship with the Defendant is counterproductive. And suggesting that there is a one-size-fits-all solution much the same.
Some witnesses (as others already do this) just need to work on every case as unique, and change their true culprit tactics as it fits the case itself. My entire suggestion is moving away from the formulaic "MMO" shtick and instead focusing more on case-specific evidence/circumstances. If you, as a true culprit witness, see that maybe the Defense doesn't have enough to prove a solid motive, just make sure the other elements of their case are strong and throw them a bone.
I say this as someone who plays all roles and has seen a case stall out from all points of view because of shit like this. In the end it's improv.
>>165297287
Friendship could have turned sour,
We barely knew each other -> evidence points to witness lying, how, why?
These relationships don't have to end up in murder. They are just to put more LORE
>>165297287
People aren't willing to change, though. You have to go do it yourself. It's futile trying to talk sense into these people.
I thought supports and cos were a waste of time, so I cut them out of a doc, and had a short case.
>>165297492
>Friendship could have turned sour,
Nice conjecture, Defense, verdict please?
>We barely knew each other -> evidence points to witness lying, how, why?
This is decent. But you've given two nebulous examples, anon, as a "solution" to vague-ass motives in ALL cases. Why shift all the blame onto one specific role?
>These relationships don't have to end up in murder. They are just to put more LORE
True enough, I think that every witness should strive to have SOME kind of relationship to others in the case. However, I disagree that they don't have to end in murder -- if you're planning on being the true culprit, of course you should either accept breaking down without a solid, proven motive given or plan out a motive that you reveal to the court yourself. That's what I'm trying to say: if you do NEITHER of those things then it's entirely your fault if the case stalls because no one can come up with a motive for you. If you're a Prosecutor who damn well knows there's no provable, solid motive for any witnesses and you insist the Defense bullshit one then it's your fault the case stalls, and this goes for judges too, and Defense Attorneys who don't indict a very easy case to make because they're missing a motive.
>>165297536
I do, but sometimes I find myself agreeing with posts on the thread because they put into words things I've felt about casing, so I decided to discuss things here. And we all know we need the bumps.

Alright, so it looks like people want both versions of Great Revival 2009.
So I'll be putting up the full version of the original, but I had an idea for the orchestral.
Do you guys want the full version of the orchestral as well, or do you want the trailer cut of it, as heard in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VWscg-ICNq4 ?
The trailer cut removes some of the track, but gets to the point quickly. I figure that would be more useful for more climactic moments.

Irrelevant! The witness' relationship with the victim has no bearing on this trial.
Everyone, defense, prosecution, judge, and witness has gotten so bored of seeing that one single line that people don't ask anymore. Because it's always said.
>>165288795
>Are you saying judges should tell the prosecution that motives are not important?
I didn't say that anywhere.
Motives fall under "nice to have". A lot of the AA villains have paper motives and some have no motive. We really don't need to spend hours talking about them if it's been proven that it's exponentially more likely that they did it than some hapless passerby defendant..

There will also be a new rule in regards to content addition, it will be in effect going forward.
Any content submitted must be reasonably compressed, if you're uploading a full raw gif or mp3 with an excessive filesize then it won't be added to the update.
