How's your comp going this week?

I sucked in Season 1 since Overwatch is my first shooter game. I ranked 30 back then. Did not play Season 2.

Just did placements for Season 3 a few nights ago, got Bronze rank around ~1400. Grouped up with some positive players and steamrolled 2/3 of games for a few hours, getting up to ~1660, SIlver rank.

Just got off a 50-something percent winrate a few hours ago with a group on the Overwatch Subreddit Discord channel. Now I'm up to 1720-something.

It's easy to carry as Pharah -- who I play a lot -- since Silver shitters almost never look up.

Tough part is how bad the rest of my team is. They pick tanks, but have tough times killing anything. But I help the on their kills as best I can.

What I have learned from several hours of comp so far: Fuck the pro meta, just play what you are best at AND FOR FUCK'S SAKE FOCUS FIRE YOU IDIOTS!!

I have lots of hope to rank up. I believe in my abilites. I can aim and position myself well enough with Pharah and a few other heroes from other classes.

And it helps to find a good group, though that's tougher.

Even with the players I found in the Overwatch Subreddit's Discord channel, it feels stressful to carry them by killing enemies AND staying alive.

It sometimes feels like a 4v1 against me when I'm playing Pharah -- or another DPS -- and the rest of my team just cannot kill enough of the enemy for whatever reason.

My problem is bad tanks. If we have a great DPS, I usually go Zarya or Zenyatta to make sure they do not die.

Otherwise I'm the DPS getting 40+ kills so the rest of the team can push the cart.

At least as a DPS I am less reliant on weak teammates, like tanks and healers are.

Tanks are that backbone of any good team. You should have at least one table, and a second off tank such as zaraya depending on the team composition

He is getting reason for 3person tank cancer I have no problems with tanks being good at dealing damage. They have the most health and act as short range point holding brawlers that your team plays off of. They work best when they have defenders behind them to protact, dps to flank and eliminate the people trying to kill them, and a healer right in their butt to keep them healed up,
Bit not road hog, he just roams around all on his own, with more health than any other tank save Dva, snagging and instant killing all other players by himself. He can literally one shot winston. And he requires no teamwork because he just heals himself, and when he heals he can out heal nearly every fucking character in the game.
And I don't mind that he's meant to kill squishies. Winston is *supposed* to be good at that (though dva is better in every possible way), but unlike winston he does it with zero risk. But worst of all he OFFERS nothing to the team. All other tanks are capable of shielding and protection their team mates. Nope! Not roadhog. He's just a low risk version of a dps character. Fucking cancer

I can't speak for your rank, but at least in Silver tier tank players still usually suck, so damage-dealers like Pharah, 76 and Reaper can shred them well.

It helps if my team is smart enough to split up where one half hits the tanks while the other half hits the healers.

In the Nepal map with the little temple atop some stairs I put the turret at main entrance to the open area for the first push. When the initial clash happens your turret will be dealing some damage to anyone who tries to contest the point and no one will have the time to target it.

If we win that clash then I put it in one of the corners or behind that pillar on the side and face it towards the zone.

I can only speak for Silver rank, but it seems like teams have more tanks, healers, snipers or Symmetras, but maybe only one actual DPS.

It's boring, slow and frustrating to me. With Torb and Symmetra buffs, their teammates each can get 150 extra HP.

But most heroes just do not put out enough consistent damage to break through:

- Shields
- Barriers
- Defense Matrices
- Turrets
- 75 extra HP of shields
- 75 extra HP of armor
- A buttfuckington of heals from Ana and Zenyatta

No wonder triple-tank meta is popular. Why waste time breaking through a near-impenetrable defense when your team can just pick a near-impenetrable attack force.

It's slow. It's boring. It's just a bunch of fat fucks fucking around at a chokepoint.

I dunno, much as I bitch about the tanks in their current state, I like how different Overwatch tanks are compared to tanks in other kinds of games.

It's possible to make tanks less stupid and OP in this game, but it's gonna be tough, and I gotta give credit to Blizz for changing things fast.

When McCree killed everything with his right-click, Blizz changed it fast. Same for Widowmaker bodyshots, Lucio speed boost, and other overpowered bullshit.

Blizz's D.Va and Ana nerfs are a good step away from the braindead tank meta.
