Open m_stalker.ltx (you will have to extract it from the DBs, but I can upload it from CoC if you want), search 'fire dispersion' and note the following values:

disp_walk_stand = 8
disp_walk_crouch = 5
disp_run_stand = 15
disp_run_crouch = 12
disp_stand_stand = 5
disp_stand_crouch = 3
disp_stand_stand_zoom = 2
disp_stand_crouch_zoom = 1

This is the spread multiplier used when the NPC is in that state. Lower the values until enemies are reasonably accurate for you.

You may also wish to alter hit_probability in actor.ltx, since even on Master you still have a 50% chance to "dodge" shots that hit you.

That's what I was leaning towards. There's also some issues with suppressors (no mod seems to get this right). Suppressing a weapon in STALKER typically drops the damage by about 10%, and lowers the velocity. Sure, we can pretend that when a suppressor is equipped, the player is now using subsonic ammo. But what about .45 and 9x39 where the bullet is already subsonic? Why do those guns STILL take a damage and velocity penalty, when suppressors actually increase muzzle velocity (all things equal) to the tune of ~2% in real life and they're already rocking subsonics?

This is going to be quite the undertaking.

Upon death in Azazel mode for CoC, if I was bleeding, I will respawn bleeding. Also, if I die as non-monolith to become one, I won't be immune to psy and die.

Secondary is always a shotgun variant and I carry around 40~ rounds.

Download a weapon mod like Arsenal Overhaul or stcop, then download the corresponding 'increased damage' mod for it.

I use Arsenal Overhaul with this

Pick a faction and play the game accordingly.

Pick Duty? Gather up 20+ boys and raid the Freedom bases and mutant lairs.

Pick Monolith? Venture silently and mercilessly kill any non-monolith.

Pick Bandit? Make money at any cost, find safety in your bandit numbers but dont give a fuck if they die. Hell, kill your follower if he loots that exo suit before you after you pulled more weight in battle.

Pick Loner? See new places, meet new people, explore that scary hole in the ground, make friends, tell jokes by the campfire and protect your brothers.

Basically, use your imagination and play the game in ways you otherwise never could.

Prices are adjusted for the current balance, weapon distribution is good too (no rookie bandits with NATO weapons), and then there's an addon called "Arranged Weaponry and Armory" which improves overall damage system, makes weapon damage dependent on the caliber and other gunplay balance stuff.

I did that a long time ago

what I did is divide all those values by 2 except the last one and change hit_probability_actor to 1.0 for master, 0.9 for veteran, 0.8 for stalker, 0.7 for novice.

Also, I increased hit_probability_max_dist to 100 in weapons.ltx

NPCs are now noticeably more accurate, I die more often and they win more often against mutants but they don't rape my ass on the reg and they don't mow all mutants down like nothing

Noticed that my framerate was tanking from ~110 to 70ish in the Garbage with all of the massive corpse build-up, so I dropped the corpse removal time to 12 in-game hours for both humans and mutants, and bam, I'm in business again.

I think that's the only blue box they loot (they will sometimes even deposit stuff in it). I use other blue boxes that have NPCs in the proximity in AMK 1.4.1 (one under stairs in agroprom and the one in the bar) for multiples playthroughs without ever losing my shit.

Not "level restricted weapons for the player" but weapons that NPCs spawn with being restricted by level (map), actor rank (sort of your "level") being easier to implement.

Sort of. Damage IS slightly increased over Vanilla, but enemies are still pretty spongy.

I've got a pretty decent human NPC preset that I've got good feedback on tweaked specifically for STCoP's damage values if you want. With it, enemies can only soak as much damage as you can in equivalent armor on master (which means they fall over pretty quick for the most part). Also stops enemies from treating brush as if it isn't there and sniping you through a bunch of trees/bushes across the map. In my opinion, it makes Ironman quite playable. Do note that enemies are pretty inaccurate in STCoP, but you can fix this by lowering their fire dispersion values.

For everyone having problem with enemies unable to aim for shit in STCoP the REAL problem is that STCoPs weapon.ltx has its hit_probability_max_dist set to shit.

Edit that line and set it to 1000 or something and enjoy. Its basically the distance at which magical disappearing bullet mechanics starts to trigger for npcs, and since its set to 0.01 by default in STCoP, it makes the AI unable to do shit to the player from any distance.

Or some shit like that I dunno, I'm not a wizard. I just set that to 1000 and it was fixed.

id like to give you a quick update on how things are going at the moment.
so, i started making a starting area for the player, a fictional town in south of the crimean peninsula. he will start out with a worn out c96 and a knife, a leather jacket and a steel pickelhaube from the great war. the first quest will involve recovering documents for the military, to Oberst Schweinedorff. this mission will send the player into an abandoned boat, which has a new mutant type in it, the blaster (shitty name I know)
It spits acid out of it mouth and can become invicible, as well as being a humanoid. it will mumble things and be half deadly. after recovering the documents, the player is attacked by the military, which has no interest in making deals with loners. after killing one of them, the player can make an escape, to the nearest protekta hub. this is a massive town of loners and other zone inhabitants (the zone isnt a tourist attraction anymore; the original inhabitants could not leave and already gave birth to the second generation of zone inhabitants). There the Protekta leader, Oychev will give you a quest to recover an artifact.
I ran out of ideas now, let me know what you think while I get to modeling some soldiers(and post pics later)

When I can port magazine models from Shoker mod / convert them from ZoA and hire a scripter.

I do think that giving every rare gun to Nimble like these mods do is a mistake, they should show up in different faction traders as rare purchases.

Like Mercs would get the Barrett M96B, and the M95, and the TRG-42, and Freedom would get the L115A3, and both them and highest ranked Loners and the Military could end up with the KSVK, or they could be randomly spawned in the open as unique weapons. Loners from veteran up could have L96, and TRG-22 and SVD, because of ammo concerns making their scavenging more effective.

I also want to give Loners from veteran up MP-412 revolvers, as well as Bandits and Duty.

The bandit trader Olivious could also sell the TRG-42 with ammo on rare occasions at certain ranks.

The one thing that I agree on is that Nimble's inv needs to be parted out to the various factions. He could be used more for lower unique weapons and rare ammo.

I like this idea, but if it was implemented I would like to see a "true neutral" NPC vendor that stocks all of the rare guns, albeit at obscene markup, so you aren't just locked out of certain weapons in a playthrough. Hell, why not have Forester do this? He already gapes your shitpussy on upgrade costs, it would make sense if he stocked rare weapons at similar markup as well.

This is mostly my idea with tools, since there are 9 factions and possibly 27 sets of tools total, spawning them in different parts of the maps and getting rid of them from stashes would make finding tools more of a part of general exploration.

Finding a few of the unique and powerful guns could work with the same principle, but they would spawn without ammo, you'd either have to find ammo in stashes or pay traders obscene amounts of money for them.

This idea is mostly for very powerful and accurate sniper rifles, since I see them as being useful tools for assassination missions and mutant hunting, where ammo conservation is vital, and useless for general survival in the Zone.

I recently got a VSS as a reward, and all of the rifle rewards for quests like these are vanilla weapons, and the money's not worth it.

The only missions I generally enjoy are hit missions, and mutant bounties, and hit missions should require you to bring something else, like that NPC's patch, or their PDA.

Yes I have read about this already, having read these threads for a while now.

The question is what to do with it.

For instance, I'd like that Sakharov not being able to buy or sell weapons, not because I dislike the Ecologists, but even in ZoA I made it so that Sakharov did not buy guns, due to the ethics of Scientists not supporting the profiteering of violence within the zone.

Instead I would like Ecologists to sell scientific equipment suits, and medical supplies, as CoC already does, and leave other factions to the weapon dealing.

Yeah, in ZoA I gave them stuff like PDWs, like PP-2000, and SMGs. I think if any faction should be armed with the MP7 it should be them.

Ecologists aren't supposed to be armed with things like combat shotguns or rifles, just PDWs like the MP7, PP2000, Bizon, or the FN P90, or machine pistols like the Pernach or Stechkin. Things that are compact and can fit in a helicopter.

I wanted to come up with a really specific type of quest for CoC with itemsoup, one that is like the Drug Runner quest, but involves someone like Barkeep or Sid asking your to be their courier between them carrying the blue case filled with an unknown artifact, then when you take it to the other trader, they will give you a suitcase, if you choose to open the suitcase it will spawn a lot of money in paper currency into your inventory and you will fail the quest, but not only that, you will also have to fight off hitmen that have then spawned to take you out.

So the principle of the quest would be to return the blue case, receive a suitcase full of money, and ferry that to the other trader, but with the possibility to open the suitcase, take the money, fail the quest, and kill of the mob sent to bury you and run away.

That's anon's point though, JP2 isn't crashy as fuck compared to other mods - it's rock solid. The difference is that where you play a mod for 10-30 hours, JP2 lasts 100s of hours and your big problems are issues like quest gives dying or locking yourself out of a quest line by doing something the authors didn't think of. The mod itself is very crash free. If you've actually played it and are not going on generalities

I finally came back after a few weeks on holiday and just found out CoC was mod of the year.

I remember playing it awhile ago but there was hardly anything more to it than the additional maps back then. Now I can see that even the Misery autismfest has been ported to it.

Anyway, just a quick question:
Without spoiling too much, how do I make quick money?
Should i just get a detector ASAP and start artifact gathering runs?

In the first two hours I had to use the item removal option three times to stop crashing when looting guys, and also had multiple crashes (and ended up needing to roll back my save) when doing the trippy cave quest since when I'd "wake up" in the attic, as soon as I'd jump through the hole to get out of the house it would crash every time.

I get that in the big scheme of things, several crashes over 100s of hours isn't a big deal, compared to say AO3.1 for CoP where I can get 30+ crashes in a 15 hour playthrough, but I still think calling it "rock solid" is a bit dishonest.

I think it's actually possible to do this in DocX dynamic factions by editing the hostage dialogs where showing them mercy and giving a medkit would nullify hostilities between factions. I just don't know exactly how to implement it.

Weapons are heavy as fuck and sell for shit most of the time. Instead, sell the ammo to wandering stalkers. Different factions pay more for different ammo, so you can end up making massive profit in a very short period of time compared to selling the ammo to traders who usually pay dick for it.

I was Freedom, and a Merc, for much longer than I was a Loner, before that I was a Bandit but died and respawned via Azazel as Merc, then a Freedomer and then went that path.

I joined Loners after I made my money and did not need faction discounts.

Loners in general are more about artifacts than weapons. In fact I think that Loners should have a tougher immunity against reputation loss due to the internal neutrality within their own "faction."

Yes. There are some 30 odd stashes and chests that AMK treats as unlootable but the one in the bar isn't as far as I know. The unlootable ones seem to have been picked based on location and unreachability. There's a stash in the base of the crane to the right as you enter the train hangar in the garbage that's safe.

All backpacks are safe wherever you drop them.

I'd forgotten running into the item crash in my first abortive run a while back. A boar in the Cordon. My 2nd run had no crashes for the 40 hours or so I put in.

They have code in there to force a crash if you save too soon after loading (like a minute or two I forget). This is to prevent save corruption with objects that're not fully initialized after the load. But it's pretty annoying and seems like stability problems unless you check the logs and realize what's going on.

Here's another tweak you may want: the wait for an hour before you sleep again check. To remove that, edit amk_mod.script and search for the function named test_for_need_sleep_matras(). Change the line that reads

It'd be great if CoC's engine would create ui_item_equipment.dds at game start from loose item icons. So maybe: a textures/loose_icons folder that contains loose icons dds files and the engine stitches them into a texture based on coords in the item sections. This doesn't need to be in the engine, could be a standalone script.

Where the 'amk_offline_alife' is the name of a script file, it usually means that file has syntax issues where the lua interpreter couldn't load it. It's a good time to run windiff or otherwise diff your changes to see if you put in illegal code.

This is going to get autistic, so bear with me. Let's say we took the STALKER exo and made it real.

Can you survive a headshot? No. The helmet would defeat non-AP handgun ammo (still wouldn't protect your face), but that's it.

Body shot? Well, assuming your torso is protected by steel trauma plates over kevlar (and I don't see why it wouldn't be), you could defeat all non-AP rifle rounds. We could even increase the thickness of these plates to defeat AP small arms ammo as well (outside of like .50BMG), since weight and mobility really wouldn't be a concern in an exo. The other problem would be your limbs, since we can't cover your entire body in plates and still have you be mobile, exo or no, so you could still be disabled by getting hit in the limbs with AP ammo. Also, it's very likely that even non-AP ammo would damage or destroy parts of the exo frame, rendering the user immobile. Explosives would DEFINITELY fuck your exo up, and surely kill you as well if you were in the blast radius, although it should offer excellent shrapnel protection.

Also, if you're a loner and "win" the war against the bandits, and then switch to Duty or Freedom, the bandits will automatically take the garbage back and that will act as another infinite spawn point for them.

That's called slingshotting the slide, and it's normally how you are trained to reload even though using the slide stop is slightly faster. This builds muscle memory so that in the event of a malfunction, you will instinctively clear it with the slingshot method.

Almost every semi-auto (barring some shit-tier pocket guns like the gen1/2 LCP) has one, and while some guns are specifically designed that you should only use the slide stop to chamber a round (like Kahrs, due to their shitty mag design where if the slide doesn't move fast enough, the round nose dives and you get a failure to feed), slingshotting is perfectly fine. You aren't going to break it. If anything, you're actually lessening the wear on the slide stop and the notch in the slide that it contacts.

said, it's the correct method. Furthermore, grabbing it with the whole hand is the actual right method, as opposed to pinching it with your fingers like on some other gun animation sin AO/STCOP (Browning Hi-power comes to mind)

pinching with fingers applies less force and has more chances to fail, i.e. take more time and you don't want that in a combat situation. Plus, if you're wounded and your hand is bloodied/injured/has fingers missing/otherwise reduced function, grabbing it with the whole hand is the only way you'll be able to get shit done, so might as well train that way from that start. It's basically gross vs fine motor skills.

I've finally figure out how to (almost) perfectly merge any mod together for SoC. Get fucking Smart Mod Manager only download the setup file and then follow these instructions carefully.
1.Get all of your mods in one folder/document (does NOT mean Crtl+C/Crtl+V gamedata thats for later.)
2.After changing ($game_data$ = false) to true, copy the entire fsgame file because Smart Mod Manager will edit to where roaming NPCs are a thing of the past.
3.After having the entire fsgame copied onto keyboard install Smart Mod Manager because that nig will auto edit fsgame folder.
4.Go ahead and load all of your mods that you put into that document/other fucking folder for folders/7zip's on Smart Mod Manager.
5.Once they are all done "installed" in SoC directory there is now gamedata from SMM(Smart Mod Manager) thats all of them perfectly merged.
6.Un-install SMM
7.Go back to fsgame and paste over the SMM edited version of it, and you should have no problems.

I did that yesterday and have still been playing with no problems. Got to http://www.moddb.com/mods/call-of-chernobyl/addons/call-of-misery-english-translation and expand the Description. Download the 1,0c repack from any one of the options there. That's fully standalone and the only standalone version of CoM. Install it and put the English translation over it.

The non-repack versions are not standalone and require CoC 1.4.12 + CoC 1.4.16 patch + CoM 1.0 + Com 1.0c patch + English translation.

CoM 1.0c repack + English translation is a lot simpler.

Yes, and you'll have to deal anyway because by the time 1.4.22 based CoM is out with all of the new CoM functions like multi function flashlights and the other stuff in his vids, CoC will be at 1.4.23 with its large changes to loadouts and a bunch of other significant stuff. Better save all of the 1.4.22 mods you want to merge right now if you can't hack scripts that have changed.

CoM is using CoC as it was first positioned - a base for modding. It's not another addon that will track CoC every release.

It's not just that they're neutral, it's that they have no allegiance to each other, this tends to work both ways to a degree, but bad reputation shouldn't be gained much, but reputation would still be lost faster than gained.

Players shouldn't really be green with other Loners, especially if they are also a Loner.

Loners also don't have a true leader, so faction wide relations with them should be change more slowly than with organized factions.

There's a ton of engine improvements and addons change the game up a lot, but it just can't keep my interest. I guess freeplay mods just aren't my thing.
I wonder if CoM will feel different, haven't given it a real shot yet.

aight, enough shitposting for once.

So my 15 hour Bandit save just got btfod because I didnt realize there was a psi-storm going on and left the shelter.

I could hear the siren thingy but since i didnt receive any notification and I didnt die immediately after leaving I thought it was either bugged out or already over.

I had to roll back to a few save 3~ hours earlier.
Is there any way to prevent this? I know the flare in the air and the sky changing are enough signals but sometimes im underground or indoors and if I dont hear any siren my save will get fucked up again if i just walk outdoors.

Couple things. Most (all) Traders stock detectors if you can access their Heavy Pockets supply tables. Problem being you need the Heavy Pockets achievement (1 mil rubles), but also you must be in that trader's community, or Heavy Pockets has no benefit at all. Heavy Pockets + Ecofag, for example, makes Sakharov stock the Veles and Svarog detectors.

But 1mil rubles is way the fuck out there, so how do we get around this? Well, NPCs have a very small chance of carrying detectors, but that's not reliable either. Your best bet are loaded stashes (stashes that have been marked on your map), as they are a very reliable source of detectors and toolkits. Reliable as in you'll probably have all three toolkits (and maybe a duplicate or two) and a Veles within 10 loaded stashes most of the time, so start doing those shitty quests for random NPCs and get the coordinates.

I keep having this issue with the icons and I don't know why. I'm installing my mods in this order:
Itemsoup -> Outfit Addon -> Weapon Gulash (with oa+itemsoup patch) -> anon's deployable tent (with oa+itemsoup+weapongulash patch)

SmallHUD is pretty good.
No obnoxious overlays or sound effects.

Just health, stamina, ammo type (along with the usual stuff that comes along with it, like fire type), and a compass.
