I don't even play BE anymore but I can tell that's a bad roll. Refia and Luka are supposed to be good healers but you don't have any base 5*s much less an Exdeath or Cecil. May as well reroll while you're just starting out.

Luka is an okay healer, but nothing special.

Go for a 5* unit like Luneth, Gilgamesh, Lightning or Noctis. If you don't get one, reroll. They're gonna carry your ass and you will need it if you don't want to be miserable.

Refia and Luka are both decent healers, but you don't need more than one. Garland becomes okay once he gets his 6*, but isn't that good in GL.

Definitely reroll until you hit one of the units mentioned above.

Which game's final boss did you hate the most, on a personal level? Mine was
Ardyn. He taunted Noct with hallucinations, killed the girl he waited 12 years to see(all Noct wanted to do was to save her...) , blinded his friend, kidnapped and tortured his other friend, responsible for the death of his dad and Ravus, destroyed his home and plunged the world into 10 years of darkness, effectively (probably) turning Dave, Sonia, Dino, Coctura, Wiz all into demons... makes me mad just looking at that smug fake smile on his face. He put our poor band of brothers through so much shit :(

The normal rare summon is probably the best bet to grab a decent 5* if you don't want to be randomly cucked by a Dark Fina, yeah. It'll probably make for more annoying work than if an actually good 5* had a drop rate boost but it's your best option at the moment.

Apart from finishing the fishing and cooking logs, there's not much for me to do. I finished the story, all hunts, all sidequests, all dungeons, the entire sphere grid, got all BiS weapons/items, level 99, all car upgrades/colors/decals.

RK Question: What abilities should I be creating/honing? I'm not fully sure what I should be creating and honing and what I should be prioritizing over other things. For noteworthy abilities I have currently I have Curaja rank 1, Curaja rank 3, armor breakdown rank 1, mind breakdown rank 1, protectga rank 1, shellga rank 1, lifesiphon rank 1 x2. I'm pretty sure I should get my other Curaja, armor breakdown, and mind breakdown, and two lifesiphons to rank 3. I also plan on making full break as soon as possible.

Restart and reroll if you intend to play long term. Starting off with a base 5* unit like Lightning/Luneth/Gilgamesh/Noctis will let you start off strong especially if paired with a unit like Refia/Cecil/Exdeath.

For your current rolls I would restart and reroll though. No base 5* unit and none of the good units like Refia or Cecil or Exdeath.

when I started this game on the noctis banner, it took like 15 rerolls to get my first rainbow crystal and mind you, in thise time we had 12 tickets each reroll.

In RK, what healer BSBs are coming up that are worth chasing? I did 5 pulls on FFIV 1 and missed Yshtola BSB. I don't know I can justify drawing any more on that banner when everything except two BSBs are dupes. The current 13 banner does have Vanille, but the rest of it is unexciting to me. So what's the next chase healer BSB? I feel like you need to have a good one to clear these torment dungeons.

I'd give it a 7.5/10. Dropped 63 hrs and I had fun for most of it, there's a lot they did right.

For how important it was in brotherhood and to the title card of the game I'm shocked at how little attention Noctis' character trait of 'always sleepy' got in the game itself.

They said you can get up to 100 hours playing this game, completing both the side quests and main story but I almost did everything in under 70 hours, and that includes a few hours of doing shit that doesn't progress any of the quests.

I wish the main story was longer and that they put more effort into designing the side quests because they were all painfully generic copy pastes of each other. I felt like I was forced into playing them to get gil and items, and don't remember if there was one that actually made me excited to undertake.

The dungeons were okay. They were more fun than the sidequests but some of those dungeons didn't make it clear where certain things were so you spent hours wasting your time looking for a thing that was right under your nose the whole time.

Guys, I need some help from people who've actually played FFXV and aren't just shitposters.

I feel like I am somehow missing something huge about the combat in the game. People talk about how it's easy to tears. I have purposely avoided side content so that I could stay around the level of the main quest. I just finished the ice cavern dungeon and the game has started totally fucking me up.

Almost every enemy around my level puts me in Danger with a single hit. The Mindflayers at the end of the dungeon in particular were absolutely brutal, they just kept grabbing and instantly almost killing me, and I was only a level below them. But it's not only them: after the dungeon I did a hunt quest for some level 14 vorehounds or something that were 6 levels below me, and even they were dealing most of my health in damage.

I think I get the basic controls? Hold Circle to do attacks, hold Square to do dodges. But the recovery time for attacking is so poor, if I'm in the middle of attacking when an enemy starts its attack animation, even if I immediately switch to Square I'll get hit because the attack animation hasn't finished. It seems like I have to play very defensively, circling an enemy with dodge held down until they attack, and then do a hit or two of my own before they start attacking again. This has its own problems though, as the huge hordes of enemies make things complicated to follow and I'll end up getting targeted by so many that even if one is done attacking, I'll get hit by something else while trying to smack it.

Am I perhaps misunderstanding the dodge? Rather than holding Square as soon as the enemy starts an attack animation, should I just be tapping it just as the attack is about to hit? Will that animation cancel any attack I'm in?

I just don't really understand. I'm typically not bad at video games at all, but people say this is the easiest final fantasy by far and I'm just getting destroyed by random shit out in the overworld.

memorize enemy weaknesses to elements and weapon types, such as enemies whoa re weak to lances so you can use Wyvern lance to do extra dmg in airbound warpstrikes

If you feel like you should be dodging, do it, even if the enemy doesn't make a move

Mind Flayers are a huge spike in difficulty, I did their quest first thing after I reached the second area and it was brutal. However, it forced me to get good at parrying, predicting enemy attacks, and dodging, so it helped a lot. You shouldn't be playing this game like it's Xenoblade, you should be playing it like it's Bayonetta, and constantly keeping an eye on the enemies, instead of just mashing attack. Once you get the hang of parrying and dodging and learn enemy patterns it gets way easier, especially since the parry window is ridiculous. Plus magic is ludicrously broken in the early game and can oneshot almost everything, I did some quests 15-20 levels early and destroyed them just by using a couple -ara quadcasts.

That being said I think the largest reason people say the game's really easy is because you have to actively work to not be massively overleveled.

the mindflayers are particularly brutal enemies. getting hit into their sucker attack means you're going to be danger if not dead entirely. Their aoe spam also makes them bad for your party in general. you need to guard against it or get out of the way.

Utilize enemy weaknesses, switch off the sword sometimes. Sometimes you'll just be in a shitty spot. Use your techniques during that time.

use warp strikes to escape instead of dodging because most of the time youll dodge into another daemon instead.

equip some bangles and a shield on noctis to increase his hp and defense a bit.

use magic to deal with hordes and dive in after to finish them off.

i would attack for a bit then escape and watch the daemon finish its attack animation before it even hits you.

use your techs more often. they help alot. if low hp is a problem for you then invest in ignis's regroup. you can change techs in your gear menu.
