for materials in the crafting menu, you can click in the left stick to get a "where to find this" on each material, which gives you the rank, monster or method of obtaining.

then you use the google doc on http://fist.moe/ to find out which monster, look up the icon and then find a quest for that monster by the icon.

for regular items, experience with the other games helps a lot. you should be able to tell what most relevant items are by icon/maximum inventory capacity, etc.

crafting takes a bit of detectivework on the google doc sometimes but once you're hunting the language doesn't matter at all.

Since element isn't effected by motion values or most attack up skills, raw is still quite important, even for quick attacking weapons like SnS and DS.
The major difference is that most weapons usually come attached with an element so you can tack on extra damage with it for the slower weapons like GS and Hammer providing you don't lose too much raw.

Only weapon I've seen that can go all in on element and get away with it is the Tower SnS where you can choose to have 4000+ of a single element and just dump it.
Of course some weapons just feel like having your cake and eating it too.

There are only really a few stagger proof attacks which funny enough are usually also death proof, and you'll be able to kick them to death the moment the attack ends are really big animations that would cause weird effects or animation skips should the monster stagger.
A good case and point is Odi's beam where he turns 360 degrees while shooting.

It's also sometimes hard to tell due to the higher end monsters having very high stagger limits, but I'd say you could expect every monster at mid G or higher to have at least one super armor attack while everything else is fair game.

I can't do it /mhg/. I've failed Hellblade IX like 10 times. It takes me like 25 minutes to kill the first one and then I inevitably cart to the second. Beru mainly uses the long wing-lets for attacks, not the wings themselves.

The bolts and beams I'll give because they are pretty common for thunder-based monsters.
The dives however are completely different. Astalos simply goes up then dives headfirst into an attack. Beru only dives when transitioning from normal to rage and it's a long windup into a single hit around him.

Just picked up Generations a few days ago, first real experience with a MH game. I'm at HR3, I just need the Glav capture and the Urgent quest.

I'm still running around in Jaggi/Bulldrome gear and was planning on holding off on trying to get anything decent until HR4, but I just picked up a Rook Talisman with Stam Recov +4 and Expert +5 on it.

Is there anything worthwhile that I can do with it? I've been using DB almost exclusively since I started. I was taking a look at the Dreadqueen set. That seems to round out my skills well with the Talisman letting me focus on a Crit/Element DB build.

So what's the play here /mhg/? Is the Dreadqueen set just an all around terrible idea? Should I try to build into something else or just wait for HR4 quality gear?

Assuming a weapon with 0% affinity, the meme set is only a 32% damage boost, and only 12% when not hitting a weak zone.

Taking only one or two damage skills in favor of utility of fashion is by no means the end of the world.

Captom has seriously fucked up some drops in mhgen. In HR the only way to get rathian/rathalos plates is tail carve and cap. No plates as quest rewards whatsoever. I need 3 fucking rathalos plates for the sns and im fucking forced to farm LR for them
