Any one else find the meeting with the wardens doing the blood ritual to be humorously pathetic?

It's pretty incredible how hard they catapulted everything they established and built up with Meredith. Mages were so batshit in Kirkwall that you could pretty safely justify all her actions, her thoughts, and her feelings toward the conflict. You could even sympathize with just how difficult it must have been trying to keep order with all murderous mages and blood magic practice going on.

Then the final 5-10 mins kick in. That should go down in history as one of the best examples of asspullery and writing fuck ups. Here she was leading the final assault on the mages, doing so pretty calmly and level-headed the whole time. Everything's going according to script.

Then all of a sudden she's jumping around 50 feet in the air like a super villain, talking about killing everyone because "I dont know lol!", and achieving final forms and summoning statue minions. I honestly expected Cassandra to interrupt Varric again and say cut the fucking bullshit and tell me what really happened.

Does anyone get this feeling that the Warden would have been a better protag in DAI than the Inquisitor?

When I was doing the 'In Hushed Whispers mission', I thought how Warden could have been perfect in it, to see his reaction when he sees tortured Leliana. And how Leliana reacts to him on how he couldn't save her. Later her sacrifice.

Same with the Adamant Warden fortress mission, and the part where you meet Hawke. Would have been perfect to see the Champion of Kirkwall meet the Hero of Ferelden.

The Wicked Eyes Wicked Hearts mission where you meet Morrigan for the first time. Warden could have been perfect here again.

I am currently doing the mission where Morrigan shows you the Eluvian mirror and explains all the lore, and I am getting this same feeling again. How Warden could have been perfect here.

I don't know, I don't hate the Inquisitor but he just feels some random person out of nowhere trying to save the world. I don't feel connected with him. And this thing is making me dislike DAI.

I usually cook lunchs a month in advance, freeze them, and brown bag lunch for works. I try to have at least one hot meal a day. The last time I cooked was last Thursday. I ate with my parent for Saturday, and ever since, I had DAI instead of cooking.
This game is seriously addicting. I can't remember the last time I played a RPG that keeps me riveted like this. Interesting story, interesting casts, interesting quests, apart from some flaws here and there, this is as close to perfection as I've ever remember.
Yes, even the dreaded Hinterlands. I finished that zone minus the collection quests before I moved on. The combat is so addicting (me being a mage with many buttons to juggle probably helps there) and the lore, so much more detailed than DAO. It's amazing. My final challenge was a rift where the enemy out leveled me a good 4 or 5 level. I had to retry times and times again, until I know exactly where to dispell before they spawn!
Then I moved on to the main quests and it's simply amazing. I ran home after work and put a solid 6 hours into the game for 2 nights straight, on the third night, I banged my head against it for another 6 hours and the final moment when I raised a sword a little bit after 1AM, I felt like it was a fair price for the previous 2 nights.
Now that I have my specialization, there are far less and less challenging content, but the story and the characters kept me engaged all the way through. After enjoying DA1 and skipping DA2 due to bad reviews, I'm glad I didn't skip this one for the same reason. Surprisingly, I was almost 100% unspoiled, partially because after DA2 I doubt Bioware has much left in them for another good game so I didn't even try to follow it, and the initial bad reception wasn't help either, but now, I'm doing all the fetch quests one by one because I'm afraid the game will end soon....
I've started eating into my frozen lunches for dinner, I should still be good for another week or so, but if you read this, send help.

In Hushed Whispers gives you the mages, and a bit of an insight to what Corypheus' plans are for the future.

For example, my PC noticed that the blood rituals were for bringing an army of demons to Thedas.
You also get Dorian, one of the most based companions early.

In Champions of the Just, you gain Templars as army members, learn that the leader of the templars had been replaced by an Envy demon, and you get Cole early.

Let’s just also make something clear here.

Flemeth may have sprinkled the odd bit of elven lore and history and magic into what she taught Morrigan. This does not change the fact that Morrigan identifies 100% as a human. She did not know of the connection between herself and Mythal until Inquisition itself. And Witch Hunt showed that her knowledge of eluvians began not with Flemeth’s teachings but with a tome she stole from the Dalish.

Even if Flemeth HAD taught her these elven things, she did not teach them AS elven culture, but with the outsider’s perspective. Morrigan does not consider these her culture, her history. She can dress it up as ‘the culture and history of the world,’ but that denies the uniquely elven elements of the culture, history, and magic. It’s taking the unique elements of that culture, stripping them away and ignoring them and justifying it by saying ‘we’re ALL citizens of this planet, it’s all of our culture.’ (Yes, I know, insert real life commentary here.)

For Morrigan, exploring elven ruins and examining elven magics is a hobby. A pastime. Something that she does because it is a special interest to her, but she could conceivably walk away from at any time and feel she gained all that she ever could from it.

For the Dalish, that same exploration and examination is the only way that they can recover even pieces, fragments of their history. If they walk away from it, they know that there’s something else, something more that they could have learned from it and incorporated into their lives and culture.

So no. The fact that she is the daughter of Flemeth, who carries the spirit of Mythal, does NOT entitle her to the elven culture. She is a daughter of Flemeth, not a daughter of Mythal. She is human, not elven. She is always going to be an outsider to this culture, to these beliefs, because they are not hers. She studies them like an intellectual exercise from a textbook, rather than living the culture and history and way of life.

DLCs are slightly harder than normal content on Nightmare since enemies scale to your level (but the game has a hard cap on levels so you will only be able to get to level 27 tops)

Descent gives you a merchant that sells basically all crafting materials (including dragon bones) and some of the best armor/weapons in the game

Jaws of Hakkon has a high dragon you can fight but for some reason it doesn't scale to your level (I think it stops at 25)

Trespasser has not really much gameplay-wise but reveals some important details on Solas and his plans to become the worst mass murderer in history. That being said, most of the stuff is just revealed through dialogues, so you might as well just read some wikia entries on the subject.

Descent has cool dwarf-lore that again will probably be relevant in future games, but it was otherwise pretty meh. You could just read a wiki entry about it, unless you want the gear for future playthroughs via the Golden Nug.

But it's not canonically that bad. If there never was jealously between them, Lel wasn't hostile towards Morrigan. In DA:I she acts like Morri did something horrible to her or something 95% of the game.
It becomes even weirder later in the game when you have accepted how they treat each other and Lel suddenly reveals for a split second that she was worried for Morri's safety.

I asked one of the Dragon Age devs earlier on would it be possible to bring back HoF as an NPC or a main protagonist of the next Dragon Age game.

So the reply was, HoF won't work well as an npc. And the fact that HoF can be killed in Origins makes the protagonist part difficult.

Not really an applicable comparison though. Mass Effect was always going to be Shepard's story; they could easily have swapped out the death scene for anything else, really, if it explained the whole Cerberus link (kidnapping, brainwashing, whatever). The death itself wasn't really anything but a plot device, and it wasn't the player's choice. They could just as well conked Shep on the head with a bit of wood and knocked them out.

Meanwhile, the Warden's death is a full stop. It's a culmination of the Warden's story, and was probably the most important decision of the game, and a pretty key point in how people played. DA is not one person's story, you're meant to be seeing it from several different POVs. There would be no point in bringing them back other than to appease a small bunch of Warden fanboys. Hell, even the practical aspects of trying to nail a VA, a set personality range, etc would be a pain in the ass.
