Aaron had written really interesting things with Thor before this and other characters other than Jane in the books still have interesting directions. You have no clue what you're talking about. SFV is just as knockdown heavy as SF4, just in different ways. Setups now consist of meaties, gorilla + on block normals they have little pushback and retarded throws that do a lot of damage/stub and loop back into the same braindead mixup again.

Alpha 2, Alpha 3, 3S and CvS2 all had really good wakeup options that shut down a lot of braindead wake up garbage that exists in 4 and 5.

In 3S you had legit setups on knockdown but they almost all required a full bar of meter and the characters who had them were based around such setups.

Every character in V has to play the same braindead knockdown game.
