I couldn't really tell if it was default FOV. But, in these shots, the environment isn't really important. You're focusing on the character interaction, so I'd recommend an FOV of 40 or maybe 30 so you can get some intimate, more dynamic shots.

I quit writing about video games, so I had to move again. I also started playing WoW and FF14 so I lost interest in Skyrim for a bit. Make sure the sweetfx proxy is set up right too, it adds a good bit a contrast and without it it will look washed out.

Like it was said earlier, it should never ever look that dark unless you're actively tweaking things to make it so.

If you've *ever* used Vivid Weathers or Climates of Tamriel, then a lot of the lighting and colorspace changes will get baked into your save, and there's no way to remove them, even if you uninstall the mods.

Start a new save and see if that fixes it.
