I'll be honest, the only thing that let me finish SG:0 was Maho. And as expected, she got passed over, and that entire ending just felt thrown together.

Like, now the true ending to SG makes me confused and angry, because there was no scene wrapping up Maho's storyline, so for all we know she's not even around in the SG world line. Hell, she might not even be alive. There's a real kick in the pants.

I mean, it's not like the Steins;Gate world line is some kind of magical fucking paradise where nothing bad happens to anyone, ever. It's just the world line existing in the narrow thread between the worlds where Kurisu dies, and the ones where Mayuri dies. We never even had a hint of Maho's existence before this game.

But it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say she was the only good thing that the game brought about. I honestly liked her interactions with Okabe more than even Kurisu, and I'm a died in the wool Kurisu fan. She had character flaws, an inferiority complex, she was smart but not a Mary Sue level genius who invents a time machine over a weekend because she wants to impress her dad. Cute but unkempt and has no sense of style. Nerdy but not a 2channer and doesn't overreact to everything. But she got thrown under the bus at the eleventh hour.

I feel like the writer suddenly realized he was in over his head and just threw together a conclusion before he got in any deeper.

Like, that whole dangling thread with Suzuha and Mayuri? That was IT? REALLY? Out of all the things I thought that game would make me feel, mad was not one of them.

I suppose I should have seen it coming, but still...

Of course she is. As you say, the only real change in the S;G worldline is that both Mayuri and Kurisu survive and WW3 is averted. I doubt they've altered anything related to Victor chondria. It is disappointing that Okabe has no memories of Maho now though.

Of course not, they obviously invented all these characters after writing S;G. You need to have some suspension of disbelief when reading this, because the premise is flawed to begin with. The author has very little room to move, so that's about as good as it gets.

Well, not necessarily. It's a world line that isn't being tugged towards either the lines where WW3 breaks our or the lines where SERN takes over the world. But that doesn't mean SERN won't take over the world. It doesn't mean WW3 won't break out when someone invents a time machine.

I mean, in the world of S;G, at least, time travel is possible. And if it's possible, then sooner or later someone will invent a time machine. And once that happens, all bets are off. All Okabe has done is delay the inevitable. It's just that there isn't any 'predestination' involved. If something bad happened, then Okabe could in theory build his time machine and interfere, and the timeline wouldn't auto-correct back to the same result.

Not that he would, unless Kurisu was involved.

It was bad enough that Kaede and Fubuki were useless characters, that there's things like the dead apes left totally unaddressed, that Kagari just happens to look very similar to Kurisu, that Twin Automata was a silly as fuck ending - but then you have Maho being the best thing out of the entire VN and she still ends up being repetitive as hell.

Yes, with Nemu route isn't enough since Nemu is designed for the last route (she's true route after all) so if you read her first then you would be confused. I choose Kotori route because her route explained something that you need to know in order to understand Nemu route.
