I agree with open-world not being needed, but being able to seamlessly go from one house and neighbourhood from another would be grand. Basically, everything is loaded to memory. What happens in other neighbourhoods that you aren't currently on should be processed in the background, whilst Sims at your current town are moving around in real time. I thought the whole districts/neighborhoods idea was a great compromise between the functionality of the open world and the performance of a smaller area - but then I played the game and found out each lot is still behind a loading screen. There is actually a lot of stuff converted from 4 to 2 as well. I prefer the game play in 2 more and I just download stuff that's been converted from 3 and 4. It's great. Picture related.
