honestly i wish amped weapons didn't exist

ttk is low enough as it is. it doesn't help that there's no indication of an amped weapon outside of the bullet tracers, but if you can see and process those, you're already dead.

i just hate that due to ~60ms ping + wonky hit detection + reaction times, amped weapons pretty much guarantees instakills with hitscan weapons.

if amped weapons is to continue boosting weapon dmg by this much, i wanna see ttk doubled or at least 1.5x (as far as pilot combat goes)

I always dominate the game and get my Titan first but completely fall off after that. I always seem to get killed by pilots unless im sitting in a corner doing nothing waiting for pilots to kill.

I think Amped weapons would be better off if what was amped wasn't damage, but things like capacity, reload speed and raise time.

Alternatively, create a counter-Boost that boosts your own health by a mere 20 points or so to counter the "one shot less needed" damage increase of most Amped weapons, and make you one or two shots stronger against a bunch of weapons at long range.

Don't be the first guy to get your Titan. Or rather, don't be the first guy to call it in. Let the pubs meatshield for you and draw fire and work from there.

I only ever really play Ion and Scorch, so for the most part I try to stay evasive and choose my engagements. Don't be afraid to run and put distance between yourself and jumpy enemy pilots.

its a utility ordnance dingus, not pure damage. use it along with projectile weapons, especially grenadier weapons. and youll see good results. its good for CTF to stop a flag runner, even if they phase shift out, you are slowing them down greatly. great for sucking a-walling dipshits out of their wall and into danger. good for bunching up AI to mow down or blow up with grenadier weapons. stuff like that.
another thing: they suck in ALL projectiles, including titans. a well placed gstar will suck in an entire salvo core.
i have a loadout with cold war and ordnance expert i run, brings the gstar cd down to 11 seconds. its a lot of fun.

It's not that the weapon balance is non existent, it's just in general most of the weapons feel like shit to use.
This was a thing in TitanFall 1 too, but it just feels worse here.
All the guns feel super stiff to shoot, the ROFs are through the roof, the optics are terribad and the only really comphy one is that enemy detector one.
The TTK is way too fast, and kills end up feeling messy and rough rather than smooth and satisfying, deaths feel genuinely aggravating and almost inescapable due to the TTK.
It hurts because you can tell the weapons have heart put into each and every one of them, especially the ones animated by Hyper, but a significant amount of them feel awful to use.

Maybe this game just isn't for me but that gunplay is definitely one of the issues that takes the fun out of actually killing people as a pilot. It clashes violently against the movement system.

That's the point numbnuts. You can still do comparable damage with the Cold War with splash damage, while the EPG almost completely whiffs. Not to mention you're using the Gravity Star to hold your targets down and chip damage. The EPG is the superior Grenadier weapon because it's a high stakes, high reward weapon that relies on proper aim, while the Cold War is just for pseudo-fasts that can't hit groundwalkers the first time.

I dont think its that hard to do on bounty hunt.
Whenever I do bounty hunt, i just grab the softball, get to a low-threat high-visibility position. Lob bombs into the drop pods. Get first to fall, usually a Ronin, go unchecked and take all the money for myself. If things go wrong and you get doomed by the next wave, Nuke Eject the bounty titan and get a new titan. You can pretty consistently get 3000+ that way

Cold War is much, much harder than the EPG to use.
The splash damage on Cold War is in between 30 to 1, and I think it's random and not distance dependent. You can hit an entire burst right where someone are, with one direct hit, and they survive. You need AT LEAST two direct hits to kill with it, and the splash damage, like I said, is laugahble because you can get a total of 4 splash damage if you're unlucky.
Not to mention there's a wind up for each burst, which means you have to lead the shots AND lead while it charges.

Direct hits are 60, so two directs hits is lethal, but the way the burst works makes it so that two projectiles never hit the same spot, so even if there's splash damage, you need at least one direct hit and two very close splash damage, otherwise you'd just do about 80 dmg total.

You basically need to lead the shot, then fire the burst and lead even further ahead while it's firing.
It took me a lot longer to master the Cold War than it took to master the EPG.

You could've easily gibbed yourself there if your phase shift wasn't placed well. If a Pilot phase shifts into an enemy, the enemy gets telefragged, but if Ronin phase shifts into an enemy, Ronin himself gets telefragged.

The cold war is a very inconsistent weapon, the gun charging up before shooting (which you can't cancel, enjoy [cold war]ing yourself on doorways) and the random spread are two things you never have to worry about when using the EPG.

Scorch can use the majesty of The Parabola or bouncing the canisters/grenades against the walls of the map to ignite behind the shield (which I think also does shield damage?)
Ronin just straight up can ignore the wall, dashing through it, phasing away when the missles are locked on and Tones tend to fucking flip this panicking shit when dudes circumvent the wall.

No, what's bullshit about the Tone is the splash vs Pilots. No other Titan has such an easy time mopping up pilots in buildings or at range than the tone.

I really, really want the time travel map as an MP map. You could players swapping between timelines and one team has grunts in one timeline and one team has grunts in the other. It would be cool as hell.
