First for dead game

Gonna play on one of the new servers and the game for the first time.

Which faction is overpopulated? Are certain classes/archetypes needed more than others?

I only really care about carebearing, although I'm no stranger to PVP from past experience in other mmos including zerg herding in WAR, but I'll avoid it as reasonably as possible.

On Reckoning, West is populated, and everyone on East hates one another.

Healers and tanks. The most popular class currently are Darkrunners, so building yourself tanky to make Darkrunners shit their britches as their one combo didn't make you instantly die will help.

You won't see much zerging (yet), unless it's Halcyona, Mistmerrow, Castle-Building Day, Castle-Sieging Day, or a zerg guild on the high seas.

I have friends that operate on East, and the West sounds like heaven in comparison. There's the hispanic guild and their runneth-over miniguild on Nuia, but the West has one thing they'll never shake on: fuck the East.

There's a massive Western guild that outright purples on other Westerners, just so they can help Eastern groups like Lethal. The solution of dealing with them is simple: No Castles for Cucks. Twice now, when the castle merchant was up, the West had destroyed their pack or even stolen it for their own Castles.

Also, you see mobilization spam cuz Heroes get money for every player that accepts the Mobilization, and the players take them as they get 1 Warrior's Medal for accepting them. It's annoying and inopportune as all hell, but it's still cash-money for everyone.

There are so many bots mining in the starting areas, the reporting system is lacking because the player that controls 5 bots watches over them reports you if you report the bots.
It's less bad later on, but people still use it.

On Reckoning, I think I've seen maybe two bots. And I dump around 3k into farming ore a day. The number of bots is extraordinarily low compared to how things were in 2014. Not sure how much of an issue it is on the legacy servers, I haven't played on them since back then.

When does this game get fun?
I'm vl 35 at the moment and nobody wants to do dungeons with me,waiting for anything PvP related takes forever and all quests are just "Kill 20 of X"
The game doesnt let me put stuff up on the auction house nor make houses if I'm not shilling out to them(Dungeon Fighter Online may have spoiled me in this regard but I still think locking important game mechanics behind a paywall is fucking retarded),the labor points fill extremely slowly and I have really nothing to do other than run around aimlessly and look for shitty quests,while the game constantly tells me crafting is important without once explaining how or why I should do it
This game ended up just being a more boring and more anime version of Guild Wars 2

You can make that gold doing literally anything, it's not worth buying them. Only buy them with gold to keep patron up. Just do trade runs, or even farm ore for an hour or two, and you can get well over 90-200g.

like how do they play if i pick Vitalism am i hosed for killing things like a holy priest in WoW or can i actually do damage, also the other way if i pick Archery so i only do damage and heal or am i stuck in the normal DPS route of kill it before it kills you no heals allowed?

You can pick up to three skill trees. You can even pick vitalism/ archery/whatever. Vitalism does have some skills that do magical damage and archery has fallen into being disgustingly overpowered again. You aren't penalized for your class at all, but others work really well when paired together.

If you're Vitalism, you can totally do some CC and Damage, now that the damaging spells from Vitalism scale with Healing Power. But you'd be a selfish idiot if you did nothing BUT damage and CC in groups.

Servers are fucked. Some work around that was posted on the forums was to first open options while in character select. Then hit the button to log on to the character and immediately the button to hit apply options right after. Not sure if it's bullshit but it's been working for me.

Houses will begin expiring this week, so you got a chance to pick up some lots. Also, last I checked, there's still plenty of land in Rokhala Mountains.

Weirdly enough, you can make tradepacks there, but there's no physical way to traverse out of the zone.

Been leveling as an argent, level 43 now (thanks fishing), but got tired of choosing between melee damage and healing power so I chose to just do healing by swapping battlerage for defense. Is this a mistake, can I do good as a templar (vitality, auramancy, defense)? I feel pretty tanky when I'm running away from level 50+ guys trying to fuck with me but I haven't gotten a good chance to do anything yet.

Well geared templars do fantastic in small scale, as their tankiness and healing outlasts any Darkrunner or physical damaging class. You wont need to be afraid when you're singled out, and will have the sustain and mobility to keep yourself and your allies alive

Mounts for each race are found at found at their starting zones. If you want to purchase a Boar, you'll need to go to Aubre Cradle.

And unless you got Patron, you're not allowed to own land. Thankfully, Patron is pretty cheap, at 180+ gold - I'm sure you could manage that.

When would small scale pvp happen? Do you fight over grind spots?

In Hasla, that used to be the case, but now that tends to happen in Diamond Shores, or when you're taking a chance and escorting trade packs through conflict/war zones. Small scale also tends to be Naval PvP.

The metas all differ between 1v1, Small Scale, Naval and RvR and will affect what abilities you should and shouldn't take. For example: in Naval Battles, Imprison is useless as it sadly spawns at the very bottom of the sea and won't keep enemies trapped for massive AoE damage. However, Fortress can be excellent in Naval battles, as you can knock back enemies trying to kill your pack carries and safely secure your pack carries.

You can steal anything planted on unprotected land, and you can assault same-faction players so long as you turn yourself hostile (Crtl-F) and are in a conflict/war zone.

You build up crime points if players report evidence left by your theft, assault or murder. After 50 points have accumulated, the next time you die, you'll be sent to trial -- either default guilty for minimum sentence time, or risk it by being Tried to be found innocent or potentially face maximum sentence.

It's outright a timeout. Your character is sent to the faction prison and you will be unable to use any abilities, even if you break out, for 10+ minutes.

Some people have accumulated so much infamy, that they can be in jail for 1000+ minutes.

The few ways to deal with crime points and infamy is to do Community Service dailies or purchase "Forgiveness" potions for Honor Points.

Anyone got any info on battle pets? Right now I have the Drunken Fairy, The Miner, and the Razer Naga. Which one should I be leveling?

So do those castles or something give you huge income? Why do large scale pvp?

Fairy is extremely useless.
Miner is pretty good because it has very high damage and a really strong slow so you can kite things very easily with it.

Oh and you can buy battle pet gear and mount gear pretty cheap at a stablehand if you pick the second option instead of heal pets.
