Posting this here as well because last thread is dying.

I still largely blame KI for SFV's new politics and general product view.

I like the idea of updates being just patches and not requiring any more disks aside from the only one you need for the game, but I prefer my content to be complete and ready for its fullest enjoyment potential.

Also these games have clearly much less budget than fully packaged fighting games. Everyone forgot the mess that was KI at launch, on some aspects even worse than SFV launch.

Either you want to react with specific buttons like st.mk/cr.hk (lazy version) or cr.mk/st.mp (better because it leads into combos but also harder because its hitbox is not as favorable)

or

You want to press good buttons pre-emptively (like st.mk) and once they start blocking and punishing you for it you need to switch it up.
And if you do this long enough you get a general idea of what works and what doesnt.

Other Karin player here.

The way I see Karin is that she performs best when she can dictate the pace of the match. Because she can both play footsies/punish, or rush people down. You can stand at medium range and poke poke poke and punish, or you can orochi in and start pressuring with fast buttons, tick throws and frame traps.

But the best matches I have are the ones where I decide what distance we're playing at, and force them to play uncomfortably. And get them into a rhythm, then change it on them.

SFV is fucking garbage.Feels bad cuz I keep giving this game a chance cuz the top players will make it hype, but then again, if infiltration and daigo are playing fucking Tetris it would be hype. I've played every sf game to a good amount besides the ex games which I only touched in my childhood and never before have I felt so strongly where the player who knows frame data is always the winner in sub-par level play. You can do it fullscreen to make the opponent do something. You can charge cancel your normals on block. Some stuff is unsafe on block or quite minus, for example: 5CC is -11 on block but if you charge cancel you are now at 0 frame advantage. You don't want to charge cancel every normal because you can end up making them have less frame advantage than they otherwise would have. After some enders in combos you get a free charge such as your 22B ender in your rekka series, however do NOT do it after an air 214 ender as you can not meaty after it. You should generally meaty and try to catch rolls. If you ever see a high level Tsubaki charge after that ender its because they have conditioned the opponent to block. Watch Konan Tsubaki matches, he is the best one.

I don't actually play Tsubaki but I tried her out for a bit when I was looking for a sub before just going with Nine(lol) but this is the info that I gathered. Any more things you need to know?

Don't get greedy with charging. A good normal to end blockstrings with is 2B as its the most positive on block however you should not always end on 2B, you can not play rushdown until you get over the fact that you must stay at frame advantage at all times. When you do jab pressure is pretty good to do microdash 5A's. You should also know that 6B is NOT positive on block, dustloop data on that is incorrect, do NOT think you are at advantage after this. Her 22B overhead is fantastic and it's what has lead people to call her kind of gorilla in this version as it is plus on block and causes knockdown, with the D version leading to a full combo. However don't just mash this out because it is reactable. Maybe online you can get away with it more often but don't over abuse it. Tsubaki is actually top tier in some nesica set ups due to the increased input delay that makes the overhead very hard to block.

I forgot to mention that the charge will fill up quicker the longer you hold the button. In other words it accelerates up the bar the longer you hold it. I think generally on most enders you want to aim for 0.5 bars units of charge. I think there are some optimal combos that net you more charge. Afaik her difficult optimal combos are all about charge and corner carry, not really about damage. Work on getting consistent combos rather than always going for optimal stuff if you know you struggle with it. This is because in some MU's she can find it hard to get in but once she is in there her pressure is really good. I should also say that she is very fundamentals based.
