you can set up a 3 mine + stasis trap in 24 seconds for 510 mana that deals 2250 magic damage at level 7
even back when mines were 525 damage 10 cooldown, they were mixed type damage, so even when enemies only had 5 armor that was like 400 magic damage per mine so it would take 50 seconds and 1230 mana to set up that much boom

You're sort of right, but the ranged LD also has massive range with Lance and the new Talent and a big part is that they reduced the time to change from ult form back into ranged form, so you can actually activate the damage buff in ult form, change back into ranged form and still have like 5+ seconds of the damage buff with sniper-tier range.
