Shrine of amana is ridiculously easy if you're a faith character. Plenty of healing, and your attacks do 25% more damage, enough to one shot most of the enemies. Throw on a spell quartz ring and great magic barrier and you can basically laugh off the projectile spells.

I'm having a really hard time with Dancer, spend the past two hours or so trying to kill her, I can reliably get to around 20~30% but I eventually make mistakes in dodging the huge combos and run out of healing, 7 estus flasks and I use the heal over time on the clerics chime to patch up first phase damage. Any advice? I'm using the uchigatana +2 raw since the bleed seems to do a lot.

SL1 DaS is surprisingly doable, and is almost easy with blacksmith giant hammer. I beat 4 Kings on my fourth try, and O&S on my third

In DS1, Havel's set has a definite stigma for me, as well as any family masks. To me they usually indicate someone trying really hard to twink/min-max or troll.

In DS2, Vengarl's Helm or Drangleic Armor are red flags for newbies or inexperienced players, to me. They both 'seem really good' when you first get them, and most newbie players have a ton of twinkling titanite they haven't used by the time they get those armors, so they waste it all upgrading it. This means for most of their playthrough, those are the best armor they have until they're past the final boss and can buy chunks.

Catarina, Vinheim, and the Great Swamp are unaffected by the undead curse because they all have purpose, whether it's sorcery development and assassination, developing pyromancies, or partying and drinking. People go hollow because they lose purpose and go insane, people in those places basically just don't, and only go hollow because they leave to a hopeless land. Thorolund is completely corrupted by Pontiff and Aldrich because they're world domination bros for life, and Londor is the remnants of the New Londo Ruins, the hollow undead of which have built a whole society on darkwraith teachings, as shown by the descriptions for dark hand.

One of the rings that really bothered me in DS3 is that the Pontiff Berserk doggo is more of a boss than Aldrich himself is and it would've made a really cool fucking boss with it's own soundtrack and a second phase.

so, I'm not sure sure how the math checks out so I'm not super sure what to go with here. so in DS2, would a fire weapon with flame weapon do more damage than an uninfused with good scaling if I dont invest in int/faith at all?
like I'm going for a melee build and I'm just kinda tacking pyromancy on there because, I've no reason not to. I'm not investing in int/faith at all, so I'm not sure if a straight up scaling strength/dex weapon would be stronger without investing in the fire scaling. am I making any sense?

If the enemy has under 400 elemental defense, infused+buff is always better. If they are over 400 elemental defense, it's always worse assuming you're using Rob/Flynn. Drop those numbers by about 50-100 if you are not using Rob/Flynn.

Here's the math:

Infusing a weapon reduces physical damage to 0.7 and adds 0.7 elemental damage. It drops physical scaling by that amount too (roughly) and adds it back in as elemental scaling.

Physical damage is (Attack - Def/10) * 5/6
Elemental Damage is (Attack * Reduction)
Reduction is .7 for 200 def, .5 for 400 def,.3 for 600 def.

Flame weapon adds 50 fire damage and multiplies total fire damage by 1.3x afterwards.

Without Rob/Flynn, buffed+infused is always better regardless of your stats, even against enemies with high fire resistance.

The picture is base damage, before scaling is added. Scaling only mattes when the AR difference is something like 100+ (which is why Rob/Flynn makes physical better in the long run).

Red = Physical, the other lines are buffed+infused at varying elemental resistances. The lowest line (yellow) is what most bosses have.

So if you're in water or against old iron king, it would be better to switch to an uninfused weapon. Otherwise, buff+infuse all the way.

So do halberds have the biggest phantom hitboxes in the game? The downward swipes seem to hit 9/10 times even when I'm standing multiple body lengths away. Only thing that might come close is the running Katana attacks pre-patch.

If you're using the Meat Cleaver, disregard Moron blade because you won't have the STRENF to use it one-handed, but two-handed should do the trick.

You also need 4 more points in STR because I mistakenly thought that in DeS STR is 2x when two-handing but it's just 1.5x. But it scales heavily with FTH.

If you need a good Soul farm, go to 4-2 and farm the grim reaper right by the archstone because killing him also kills all the nearby shadowmen.

Hunter is the recommended noob favorite, Hunter or Temple Knight if you want to use FTH as a support.
