I'm fairly new to Sims 4 and I have a problem. It seems like there are few careers that are so much better compared to the others. Right now my character is doing paintings and selling them at her own retail store. It's easy 20-30k per day. My other character has business career and he makes very little money compared to her + he has to do those mind numbing daily tasks. Is this designed like this or am I doing something wrong? Is there some good career mods that make this somewhat better? Even getting those daily tasks less time consuming would be something.

Also the detective career in Back to Work is broken as hell. I couldn't progress with the tasks because my suspect was a ghost who never appeared in the police HQ after arrest. Also the clues seem totally random. I hope the scientist and hospital careers are less buggy.

Yeah and those daily tasks being so tedious just makes it feel even better. One strange thing about retail stores is the fact that people circle cheap stuff as much as they do expensive stuff. Selling 3k simoleon painting seem to require same effort as selling vegetables.

I don't think so. I suggest you just make your relatives, put them in an empty lot, and move them out individually. At least, that's how I've always done it in the past Sims games.

I was thinking of doing the challenge with the Realistic Salaries mod to make it seem harder but really the only way to make it harder is to make is so you can't do certain things like forcibly wake a sim that's in red energy.

My challenge which would actually be challenging to me.

>Can't wake sim up if he's in the red
>Can't level up Handiness past 2 unless it's part of your job
>Can't paint unless it's part of your job
>Can't make money off writing songs or books unless it's your job

I was going to make it so you can't cook anything unless you have legitimate ingredients but there's no stores to buy groceries so it doesn't work.

This would be the hardest challenge i can think of without making it Sims 4: Dark Souls

Yeah the aging thing is optional. Similar to how Pokemon Nuzlocke runs let you choose specific rules based on your own difficulty management. I don't think i could personally manage all that and still keep the rent payed. Adding in a relationship and children adds a whole new challenge. More food costs, More beds, Things break faster, More house space required. I don't think on top of my other rules i could handle it.

If modders got good enough to make something like Seasons or Pets, the modding functionality would get removed/gutted in the very next patch. Sims' bussines model is completely antithetical to that.

I know you guys probably get this 100 times per thread, but I can't decide whether to download Sims 3 or Sims 4. There seems to be pros and cons to both of them.

I've played both in the past, and while I'm excited to try the expansions I've missed for Sims 3 (which is obviously a more finished game), I feel like I'll miss certain upgraded features of Sims 4.

Sims 3 expansions are really fun, I loved generations + seasons + supernatural = unlimted fun to me
BUT i cannot ever install that shit optimized mess ever again, I dont hate myself enough to do it. and the sims look fucking digusting even with mods (I prefer cartoony ones like ts2 and ts4).

At first I was a bit "eeh" about ts4 but now I am truly enjoying it, I dont miss the open world at all. Only want my seasons and magic back. and toddlers.

Some modders get hired or payed and the content is used by the team. The whole Door Lock feature they added was a mod. When a feature is just so good you have to have it, They generally just pay for it. Modders are just unpayed interns really. Modding creates a healthy "Idea pool" Sometimes modders are so good they do things with the engine the dev's didn't even think was possible.

Denuvo is stupidly expensive though. To put Denuvo in your game you'll be raising the dev costs higher than most games get pirated. That's why you never see it on anything except games they expect will be pirated more than the cost of the DRM. Lords of the Fallen is a prime example of why you shouldn't put Denuvo on everything. It was a giant flop of a Dark Souls clone and nobody could even pirate the game to spread advertising. Hell Denuvo is such a burden it caused the game to have game breaking bugs even for the people that payed for it. To put Denuvo in your game you really have to believe hard that every pirated game copy = 1 lost sale.

Not much info is or at least was floating around about Denuvo when i looked it up awhile ago because of the shit tons of money being spent to keep hackers from cracking it. The info i know is limited to, If you're connected online Denuvo will attempt to reach out to a server and confirm that the game is a legit copy. If you're offline it accesses code from inside the game to confirm it's a legit copy. At set intervals throughout the game Denuvo will attempt to access the "is this real? code" which can be multiple codes or possibly dynamically changing codes generated based on your PC. Because the game needs Denuvo to run the search for the code in order to play it's hard to crack without fucking up the game.

You're exagerating the cost by about an order of magnitude. The figures I've heard are either 0.15 $ or euros/copy sold or 100k flat ammount up (but probably you pay that everytime you send them the executable for them to add Denuvo though, so if you do many patches like Sims does (it's at patch 45 now) it would rack up a big cost over time.
If you're confident that you won't do many patches and are relatively stable, you can add Denuvo for relatively low cost, compared to AAA budget.

I remember seeing a mod organizer for the Sims 4. I don't see why anyone would need it though. Sims modding in general is very simple compared to something such as Skyrim. Rarely do you ever need to sort mod priority and it's simply paste the files into the mods folder.

In the mods folder, yeah. Although how deep in sub-folders you go is depending on the resource.cfg file. You can find a default resource.cfg file in modthesims. That's the only file you need inside your mods folder for tbe game to work your mods. By default you can go about 5 sub-folders deep, but you can keep adding to it as far as I'm aware.

I love comfy rain weather, always had a cozy home in sims 3, a fire and then hearing the rain was sooo nice. I want to have that in sims 4 too.

It just adds a lot of immersion, but I never play my sims "autistic" (in that sense that skills are that important for me to level or promotions, dont care too much about it), I just imagine stories for my families and let them experience it then while I imagine stuff in my head. They traded off performance and short load times for having to load between the lots. DESU now that I have a SSD I'll take occasional 5-15 second load screens and good performance over a 10 minute load screen and meh performance even when using an i7.
