Voidfang is pretty great. Makes Axions a lot better in PvE and PvP by giving it a third bolt, and makes sure you spawn with a grenade every time in PvP. Plus you can reroll it for whatever ammo/armor perks you want.

Nah Axions are pretty great in PvE especially if you use Embrace the Void. They do a lot of damage with the bonus of not having to aim them at anything in particular, just throw and forget. Scatters are also good but you may as well use Nothing Manacles, and the guy asked about robes.

New player here.
So I just got the Destiny Collection for PS4, took from Christmas 'til now to get my Titan (Defender) to 40. Did some Sparrow races and got some neat gear and shaders, killed the Taken King guy in a quest but don't have a high enough Light Level to do Rise of Iron content. I have a couple of questions:

Yeah, but technically we're all (save a few) in the same clan. I'm not on ps4 so I don't know the name of the actual bnet clan
You can also grind Crucible for gear, but strikes and raids get you farther
You can get one exotic sword from completing the RoI campaign, but you can get legendary versions from Shaxx after completing some TTK stuff, I don't remember exactly
They can give you reputation towards those respective factions, which give rewards
Patrols are for a RoI weekly quest, XP, and killing time
PvP is alright if you have a good handcannon, pulse rifle or shotgun. It just depends on how good you are at console FPS
You can get Legendary Marks by dismantling Legendary gear, completing the Daily Heroic story/crucible mode, weekly heroic strikes/crucible mode, and quests
You get silver dust by dismantling Ornaments or gear found in Eververse packages

You get story and some various goodies. Can't remember exactly what as it has been some time.
Depends if you like PVP but it does give Light equivalent gear. Its a little clunky and most people have meta weapons by now so you'll be pretty handicapped as a heads up.
Legendary Marks are earned from the playlists you can see as small icons in the lower left hand side when in orbit. They'll tell you how much that activity is worth and how many times you get that amount of coins per week for that activity.

Yes. PVP only and even then. Yes someone will go "hur dur" nighthawk(exotic helmet that gives you a single 6x damage slinger shot) will do maybe 1/4 a bosses health but you're useless literally everywhere else in that strike, nf, raid, etc.
Better to be a blade dancer and actually contribute elsewise or even better be a nightstalker so everyone can have orbs and boss dps.
If you're new heres a good order of importance for progressing subclasses for hunter nightstalker, dancer, and slinger. Use dancer until you get nightstalker.

Bad juju is the only "good" primary exotic in that bunch and only because of its perk that makes your super charge a good bit for every kill. Its not the best pulse meta-wise but, again, its pve so its not that big of a deal.
Hardlights okay but not great. Its biggest deal is it has no drop off damage which is one of the bigger issues with assault rifles.
Nova mortis is relatively good but its a pre-stability patch machinegun so it has a decent kick too it. For future reference its a literal copy of Thunderlord but in Void damage. Just the Thunderlord has the stability patch so its more manageable.
Howl has a decent heavy attack and its okay on solar burn but Raze-Lighter is much better.
Truth is a pretty good Void rocket launcher that tracks its targets pretty hard assuming you aim at them instead of hip firing. Its a bastard in pvp but gjallarhorn is a little better as it does the same thing but explodes into mini tracking grenades as well.
Good way to put it is this. Imagine a 1-10 scale and PVE encounters are a solid 4/10 any weapon that musters average is usable in pve.
Juju is a 9/10 but again only because of its perk not its damage output.
Khovstov is a 7/10 is good for an assault rifle but assault rifles suck outside of Zhalo Supercells right now.
Hardlight is 6.5/10 not great but if you aim for criticals it won't get you killed.
Nova is a 7/10 right now as it has that stability issue i mentioned earlier.
Wolf is 7/10 but most exotics swords are 8-10/10 depending on circumstances.

You don't need anyone for "clearing out a room and keeping it clear" every enemy in this game dies in one or two hits. If you really feel like you need someone for clearing adds, a Stormcaller is much more effective and the mandatory Nightstalker you'll have on your team with Predator is even more effective than that.

Slingers miss one of their 3 shots thats a major fuck up and even if they do land its just one enemy. No, boss dps isn't an argument because a fusion grenade lock out does even celestial.
Its literally not worth it to any degree sadly. However, a tether is a boon to literally everyone on the team just like a bubble is or a song and viking singer and contributes to overall dps instead of a single medium large bit of dps.

Basic experience and situational awareness.
Don't plop it dead center in the one spot people can get shots off without being wide open. put it off to the side a bit so people can pop in, get their buffs, and get back out to shoot quickly.
Doing a raid? Ask where, usually someone will know the key spots and now you'll know and when someone asks in the future you can point them to it.
Don't panic bubble. It almost always ends up in a terrible fucking spot.
Don't pop it in hard choke points as enemies will now funnel into the bubble or through it where you can't kill them.
Main point, again: put it nearby so people can grab buffs. Not as a holdout or fortress.

Its a shield people can retreat to if they need a breather not one you set up to actively protect ontop of being a source of buffs.
Theres more to it but this is a good rule of thumb.
Theres times, like in the raid, where it will be dead center in the action or people will use it as actual cover and shoot over it but thats where the experience big comes in and people will generally tell you where these places are if you tell them you're new to that position.

No one was arguing about raze lighter being good when solar burn is on. The point was both swords are good and can be used regardless of the burn without being detrimental. If someone was using bolt caster when solar burn was on that would be a different story.
