Currently, Darkrunners are the most popular class, but the meta still looks like it'll be the mage-ball. For small scale, some amount of CC will help you out. And Darkrunner is a solid solo pvp build if the target doesn't have Redoubt. If they have redoubt, don't waste your combo and lame it out.

Even with a few guilds now having gotten a few castles (just two on Reckoning), it's pretty good so far.

Our guild has plenty of land and has a Lutesong now, and can start pillaging reds while we sell produce on the auction house.

For large scale, you go Cleric
For small scale and coordinated groups, you can go Cleric, Templar or Soothesayer -- purely preference.

Templar is tanky and allies don't need to worry about babysitting them.
Soothesayer has stealth and can get out of combat to resurrect allies that died. Cleric has the best AoE heals bar none, and can also spec themselves to be a "bard" and play nothing but buffing songs.

prove it how? Just turn the game on and try to connect. It will say the server has a queue, but when you go to log on it just lets you on. It's been like that for roughly 5 days now. We figured it was disingenuous to continue shilling generals until people could actually log in, which people can now do.
