When I get a private convo for example it opens that up in a tiny ass 40x20 pixel or whatever window and I have to manually put it into my chat stack (corp and other channels, local is on its own) and then readjust the sliders and font size and so on.

Can't I do this automatically? Just add a private convo or any new channel I join to the stack using the same settings as those?

So I've heard the highest dps drone layout for 75 mbps is 2 heavy, 2 medium, and 1 light, but the heavies are so much slower than the others that it feels like I'm losing a lot of dps while they travel. Would 5 mediums instead be a better option?

If you don't know the FC, it might be a few flights before you get put in, generally you're benched and on standby for upwards of a few hours assuming you get in at all before the FC calls it quits. I'd say on average it can go from 1-4 hours wait, assuming there's less than a dozen people in the queue with you and they don't know the FC personally either.
You may have more luck with TDF, pretty much the only armor fleet still flying incursions, if you don't mind going a lot slower. You can still bring a mach though, cause it can do either armor or shields, and is kinda the best ship for incursions in general.

Remapping is changing your character stats using pointbuy and it only alters training speed of skills. It's also essential for skillpoint farming to sell via extractors/injectors since you can make basically one full injector every 8 days if mapped and implanted properly.

Tried cruising but that doesn't appear to be enough either. I can survive for about a minute but then I either get fucked out of cap or shield (or both) and have to head back. I use a caracal with scourge rockets and deal damage wayyyyy too slow to get anywhere. It doesn't appear to be possible to split them up either.

Rapid Light Missile Launchers will dramatically increase your DPS, especially if you use faction missiles. Focus on increasing your missile skills in the meantime.
SV-2000 or Arbalest launchers are best for non faction tech 1. If you can afford them and fit them then go that route. The SVs are significantly cheaper than Arbalests, but are slightly lower DPS.

Two large shield extenders, an invuln field, em ward, and the rigs should easily put you over 25k effective health even with relatively low skills. If you had all relevant skills maxed this cheapo build would put you over 32k EHP.

Caracal was made for Rapid Light Missile Launchers, Heavy Missiles, and Heavy Assault Missiles.

Heavy missiles do more damage, but have a harder time hitting small fast ships.
