In SoC weapon damage is actually LOWERED as you go down the difficulties, but the actor's damage resistances are tanked making enemies do more damage while you do less. Hit_probability only has an effect on ENEMY shots that would otherwise hit YOU.

Well, they mostly do more damage since the actor's (you) base damage resistance is heavily dropped as you go down in difficulties, but yes, that's exactly how hit_probability works.

It removes faction patches and weapon addons from stashes. Patches made no sense. Most weapon addons in STCOP are classified as food items under the hood so they have a very, very high chance of spawning in stashes - food items have priority when stashes are populated and any given stash can contain up to 4 of them. This blows up the economy so I removed them.

Some anons didn't like this change and I can see why. Maybe it should be an option.

Darryl has ideas on how to make those addons first class items with menus and stuff which would let coc_treasure_manager handle them better.

Agreed on having better weapons and gunplay. Those two are the bare minimum for any mod to be considered.

OGSE 0693's biggest disappointment for me was the weak gunplay - their running out of steam after adding the cool weapon mags system but before fully fleshing it out was sad. I'd have preferred the mod with 0692's tight gunplay. That would be a cool merge: 0692's gunplay and mutant/npc balance in 0693.

Hey Borman, I just looked at how you're doing distribution and you've revived and customized Alundaio's old dynamic npc loadout code from various sources. This is so much slicker than any of the other solutions around and should be used for all the weapon packs. Great stuff. You should PM Darryl about it, he's planning to overhaul his external script at some point and this is much cleaner and extensible. It should be in CoC as a base feature.

personally i find MSO as featured in most mods to be over the top, especially in misery where it feels more like doom than it does a real environment.

PR was very impressive to me particularly with some of the AI behavior changes. I have no idea why alundaio dropped it.

theres a merge of PR+AN4+AO3+AF3 and dynamic hud for CoP if you want to try it. Check the "addons" page in moddb, there is two very similar looking addons but be aware they are different, one is what i just described the other is like OWR3 or something.

Gives you the hippy hippy shakes when you get hit. Not on every hit, the probability is affected by how much damage you took. But you lose control for a bit and can also drop your weapon. Generally unpleasant especially if you're out in the open, leaving you exposed to more damage while the animation plays out.

The shoot effects stuff is neat. It provides camera-based, animated recoil as opposed to just moving the barrel up. It's taken from an old Rulix mod and is in AA2 (and so also in AMK AE). If you fired the sawnoff in AA2, you know the effect. Hopefully the guy who did the merge added the new AO guns to actor_effects_data.script or some guns won't have the effect.

Actually, the actor_effects_data seems a little light for AO which has a large number of guns. I just checked and the SR3M for eg is not in the table so it won't have the shoot effects enabled. Does Thales100 read /sg/?

The original rx_shoot_enable.script had a cool feature that seems missing in the port done by Smurth: you could set up weapon equivalences for recoil in config/misc/rx_shoot_enable.ltx. So AA2 has this for eg to reuse the G36 anim:

Here's a completely untested tweak to Smurth's actor_effects.script that allows for weapon equivalences like in the original Rulix mod. The code is untested and even unexecuted, but the idea is simple enough.

Open m_stalker.ltx and raise luminosity threshold to 0.8 and transparency threshold to 0.9 for both settings in Free and Danger mode.

This will stop you from being seen in pitch black night from a mile away, and will stop them from perfectly seeing you through a bunch of trees and bushes. Do note that they will still perfectly see you through grass, as for some reason none of the grass has "vision collision" meshes so to the AI it's invisible.

Keep messing around with the settings and you should find a happy balance that works well for you. You may also want to set the "always visible distance" to 0, and don't forget to make these changes in m_army and m_bandit as well, and only some of the vision settings from m_stalker carry over to them.

With properly tweaked vision values, I was actually able to go full sam fisher and steal the documents in AA2.1 in the agroprom in pitch black night without being spotted by sneaking around and shooting out the lights, only having to kill one guy near the documents as he was illuminating the entire hallway with the headlamp. STALKER with proper stealth is fucking fun.

You can stealth that entire level right up to the final floor same as you did without any tweaking in AA2.1. Nerfing vision isn't required, just patience and not switching weapons or saving midway.

Point being you don't need to hide behind bushes to do that section. Just avoid their line of sight which is easy to see because they have helpful headlamps on to show you where they're looking at night.

Their patrol patterns are predictable too, you don't need to be Tejas to figure them out. You wait near spawn until the two dudes run by to go to the gate checkpoint, then go up that main passage and wait till the dude comes down the stairs and out the door. You can see his headlamp and progress from outside. The only randomness is whether two of them will walk into each other and get stuck on the stairs.

To complete this, you then go to the roof and knife the loudspeaker. You can switch to your rifle on the roof, the sound will not reach anyone. Go back down to the 3rd floor and shoot the guys blocking the door. Pick up box, pick up scope from the lieutenant if you're playing a mod that leaves it alone. Scoot down the ladder from the roof and out the hole in the back. Go over the hill, keeping an eye for the fucking pseudodog that hangs out near the tree. Etc.

The bigger problem is sound, not vision. If you don't touch a bush or switch weapons, you're usually good to go by just avoiding their vision cones. The one big fuckup is that is reloads cause weapon draws which cause sound, so don't save when trying to be stealthy.

Depends on your definition of stealth. If you mean stealth as in "avoiding line of sight at all times even in pea soup-tier darkness that state of the art 4th gen NVDs don't even work in because the AI has magical vision and will see you" you're correct.

Sound is the issue, not vision. Don't go near any bushes if you're being stealthy.

I would argue the best progression is going to be CS > SoC > CoP which will mildly spoil one part of SoC if you haven't been spoiled already, but offers the best gameplay and story progression from okay > good > great instead of feeling like you get downgraded after SoC to CS.

None are going to give you that out of the box, but pretty much every mod can with enough tweaking so it just comes down to what are the best "base" mods to start on.

For SoC, definitely AA (get the unofficial patch in the repo)

For CS, the AO SRP mod merge in the repo.

CoP is tricky, as there are multiple candidates but all of them can be a bit crashy, but my personal favorite is AO+PR, just don't expect a bug-free experience. It's not nearly as crash-happy as say, SGM or Misery, but you want to save often.

I don't know about gulash, but in CoC + AO or CoC+STCoP that's definitely a reasonable amount of money if you go hard killing shit and don't bother wasting inv weight on weapons, and are selling your ammo and rifle grenades to random stalkers who will pay way more than the traders.

It seems to be somewhat balanced around Ironman where it doesn't take too long to get started again if you eat shit, but it can seem excessive if you're playing on casualmode.

There's basically no reason to loot stashes as-is in STCoP because they're just vodka+energy drink or one "stack" of ammo most of the time. Without that patch you'll find multiple silencers and scopes in a single stash routinely with base STCoP. They're classified as food items under the hood so have the same probability of showing up as a bottle of vodka. Higher actually, since there are more weapon addons than food types. Item Soup will skew this since it adds so many more food-like items, making scopes and silences rarer again.

Okay, I started a fresh game in AA2.1 (didn't even bother with the patch), used my fixed m_stalker and m_army files, rested until midnight, and was able to hop that fence and get in without being spotted. The sentry that's looking out front didn't spot me either, as I stuck to the shadows and only briefly crossed pools of moonlight when I was mostly out of his line of sight. Do note that when you jump on the concrete slabs, you make a lot of noise and will wake up the guy sleeping right in front of the window, so if you wait until he goes back to sleep and let the patrol pass, you can get in okay.

It should be compatible with AMK AE, but I personally just stick to AA2.1 since it's essentially bug/crash free. A couple of tips would be that moonlight really does illuminate you, so to remain invisible you need to both stick to the shadows and be quiet.

I've done four runs now, and on three out of four I was able to make it into the room with the sleeping soldiers without being spotted. On one of the runs I made too much noise hopping on the metal box near the fence, woke up a soldier and got spotted.

Here's the state of the sky. Zero light sources. Also, as far as the patrol was concerned, I did go through some bushes so they might, might have heard that, even though I was quite far away from them. The watch tower guy though, started shooting at me when I was slowly walking through the mines using bolts. So there was no sound. The m_army settings may or may not even be used by the engine, the verdict is still out on that one. Basically how the visibility threshold works is that's how "visible" you need to be to get detected. The higher the value, the higher the detection bar must rise before they "see" you.

Unfortunately, with the detection bar disabled in AA and AA derivatives, it's difficult to pinpoint the exact effect you're having when changing the settings since detection can vary wildly depending on several factors.

What I'm beginning to suspect is that there's something off with the way AMK is handling the darkness so it's not being assigned the proper luminosity value.

and checked the free/danger differences. The guy seems to have lowered the gap between the min and max view distance, raised the visibility threshold by 20, and increased the luminosity factor to a whooping 2.5 for free and 3 for danger. And while that kind of helped, since I finally managed to make it into the compound and the guy actually missed me hiding behind the outhouse while doing his rounds, have a feeling this tweaked it too much and made them ignore me or something. Can't be sure exactly what happened, but that increase in luminosity felt quite substantial.

For sure. At 1.35, for example, you can successfully sneak right through the front door and hide in the corner of the room to the left of the doorway without being noticed by the guys around the fire. Any closer than that, and they spot you, but that shows how significant raising the threshold from the default 0.4.

So I've fucked around with the AMK merge, and it's a bit of a shitshow. For one, the APCs have cross-map vision, regardless of light levels, and will alert any enemies if you're in LoS of it. As far as light levels go, the map lighting is completely fucked, and what shows as properly sourced dynamic moonlight in AA2.1 is nearly pea-soup darkness in AMK AE, but the AI treats it like moonlight.

I was actually able to make it into the room with the sleeping NPCs by taking the same route I did in AA2.1 which took me through the shadows, avoiding all moonlight. Obviously the problem here is that with AE you can't see the fucking moonlight or shadows, which is retarded and fucks everything up.

I would give AA2.1 a try with the stealth+damage tweak. It's easily the most stable and "refined" SoC experience, and with those tweaks the gunplay is rock solid and pant-shittingly intense, especially night time CQB.

Do note that the detection levels for sound have been left alone, and they're VERY high by default in the Vanilla profile, so in darkness sound is going to be the primary means for which enemies detect you.

This is actually really neat when combined with reducing their visual capabilities at night, as it will allow you to experience some of the AI mechanics that are built into the game that you normally don't get a chance to see, like firing at an enemy with an non-suppressed weapon from a pitch black vantage point, your "position" will be communicated to all enemy AI and they will shoot at that position, even if they can't see you. Now, normally with the AI detection so powerful at night, they will always have a bead on you, even if you move from cover to cover, but with these detection changes, you can actually slip away and re-position without being spotted while they continue to suppress your previous position, attempting (if level geometry allows for it) to flank that position and close in.

But I've already stealthed Agroprom with with Vanilla, ArsenOL 2.2 and Oblivion Lost 2010. It's just not enjoyable at all compared to realistic vision parameters, and your success is somewhat random based on the position of guards when you exit the underground.

You can think of the "story mode" as some map markers that give you a tour of the locations you experience in the story, but a lot is missing.

The problem lies within ui_icon_equipment.dds which contains all of the icons for equipment in a grid formation. Each item that has an icon has coordinates that refer to that file. What's happening is you're using multiple mods that each have their own version of ui_icon_equipment.dds and respective item coordinates. You need to manually merge them (can use paint.net to open dds files) by adding the missing icons and then editing the coordinates in the corresponding item files to point to the correct location.

I can walk you through the basic process if you want.

Well, if it was done properly, you wouldn't have that problem, but when you're merging things and creating a patch it's easy to fuck up especially when you're dealing with those coordinates, so even assuming the images were merged properly, something as simple as a typo causing one number to be wrong, 39 instead of 38, for example, and it's going to throw up the wrong image.

Welp, that went nowhere. Getting a crash right before the start, and a windows crash nonetheless where the XR_3DA "stopped working", so can't get a log out of it either. Something about d3d9_smaa.dll. Running the steam version since this asked for 1.0006, though even that is odd for some reason. In-game I get it marked as 1.0006, yet the registry calls it 1.0005. And using the 5 to 6 patch calls on the XR_3DA as being corrupted/not the right one. Did multiple fresh reinstalls off steam and disabled both enb and that 4gig memory thing at the end, even though I'm on a 64bit system, with the same result. That bloody crash at the start. I am told after the AA install finishes to launch it from the executable, but I see no separate one made by the mod and just launch it from steam, though I doubt that's the problem here.

It seems like the perfect addition for the survival feel, with better gear/sacks giving you more accessible mags along with the need to spend a little time hand loading them. Give some comfy campfire feels to load up mags, even select the bullet loadouts in the mag and you got a great feel.

Ok so most of what you described is in CoC by default. If you increase Stalker/Mutant population to max in the options menu, you'll see even more of what I'm describing. I'm on a lowish population and it's still happening.

Seriously dude, latest CoC is excellent, there's plenty of mods for it if you can't stand Vanilla guns but it's free and runs beautifully. It can't be beat man, give it another try.

After a day of tweaking, mostly with the sound though since I wanted the English voices back, I have to say it is pretty fun. Will probably need to lower the grass draw to 100m since I do get the map edge flicker after all, but that should be an easy fix. In any case, first mission in and indeed the guns do seem to do some real damage so thanks for that Stalker, that's just what I was looking for. Though on the other hand, the Loners I was raiding with were all taken out since they die just as fast. RIP my short lived comrades, this bottle of Cossacks is for you.

From the Weapongulash patch readme:

1. First, install CoC with latest patch
2. Then, WG + Base patch
3. (optional) Install any addons you want (Itemsoup, OA or both)
4. Use provided compatibility patches from this .zip (DO NOT USE v.02 PATCHES, THEY'RE BROKEN 'COZ I'M BROKEN)

My install order was AN Redux and Autumnul winds along with Doctor X dynamic relations and full alife simulation. Then STCoP and its patch, then OA and it's compat' patch, then itemsoup with its compat' patch, then Gulash along with its compat' patch for the 2 above mentioned mods then finally the v.021 patch again with compat for Outfit and Itemsoup.

No bugged textures or crashes yet, guns and rank loadouts seem to be working as intended

Apparently WeaponGulash adds more guns from AO. If you go into the weapon icon dds you can see there are quite a few more weapons. Dunno where the WG dev is for 2 days straight now, he just released this.

Artifacts are because of jpeg compression, there is no such thing in game. Plus there are additional things that affect this. Your screen and my screen more than likely do not have the same settings and stats.

Okay, just checked STCoP 2.8 (for CoP, not CoC) and the only file they modify in the creatures folder is actor.ltx. They actually increase the hit probably to 1 for 100% across all difficulties. (this doesn't affect enemy accuracy, per-se, but just deletes a percent of bullets that would otherwise hit you).

Open it with notepad++ (or whatever text editor you prefer), and find the lines in pic related. It's not the default spread of the weapons that's the issue (they're actually very accurate) , but the massive NPC multiplier in m_stalker. Also CoC still has the vanilla hit_probability, so even on master 50% of enemy hits that intersect your hitbox get deleted. Well, it depends. Guns in AO, for example, have lower base dispersion values than STCoP, which really doesn't matter for the player, but for NPCs where they're being multiplied to the moon by CoC's dispersion settings, you can have a pretty significant difference.

So comparing AO vs STCoP, and you've got moderately less capable AI. But for STCoP vs Vanilla, guns in Vanilla CoC have even worse base dispersion values than STCoP which means the AI are even weaker in Vanilla.

Now the X factor here is player effectiveness. With both AO and STCoP, the player's effectiveness is massively ramped up over Vanilla due to more accurate and more damaging weapons. NPCs are also more effective, but gain far less of a benefit than the player does.

True enough that its far simpler to bullet people in the face thanks to all the neat shit in STCoP than in vanilla but I can still swear that I never had AI that crappy up close in vanilla CoC. They absolutely always seem to shoot to their left then slowly turn to face you for some reason.
And even at a distance I can easily wipe out entire camps while using minimal cover compared to vanilla where I have to hunker down a bit or risk biting a bullet when they start switching to semi-auto fire.
Not much of an effectiveness factor when the AI misses you point blank full auto like in >>164213991 either.

download this and take the azazel_mode.script
and put it in your gamedata\scripts folder.

Is there anything in dark valley for my to go back there right now? I didnt seem to find very many artifacts there. Left a stash at the military base in cordon that may have my 94, was gonna sneak into the base but a fucking apc with map hax is protecting it. I think I need more rucksacks too, so I can drop a small stash in the wild territory for when I am passing through, and another one near the lab in yantar to prepare for the lab.
