First for Fumi!

Are you guys enjoying the holiday events in Wibble Wobble? I like the chance to get new Yo-kai, but the lack of New Year's coins is a little annoying since I've been told that some of the new one's are tied directly to them.

So with Sukiyaki out now comes new yokai, but most importantly the new buster mode.

Seems like this one works a bit like a rogue-like mystery dungeon. Randomly generated floors, get to the stairs/exit, traps, the whole works.

Unlike YWBusters game you and your allies have way less health, even at 99, which makes survival pretty darn difficult, especially for bosses.

At the end of each dungeon is a boss. Some will just be bigger, beefed up versions of enemies while others are legit bosses

So far these are the ones I saw:

Stun: Drops a metal basin on your head to stun
Damage: Spikes shoot up from above and do some damage
Blind: Black smoke erupts and causes your screen to go black
Slippery: Soap appears and turning/stopping is hard to do
Hud B gone: Strange thing happens that removes your Hud for a bit. Probably the least harmful of the bunch as long a you know how to keep track of your HP and cooldowns
Map B gone: Strange things happen and your map is disabled, making navigation difficult.

It's amazing how a change of scenery makes bosses more violent, even the early ones.

not that I've seen, but a lot of the LPers cut off the dungeon crawling part after the first few runs and jump straight to the boss. The most floors I've seen are at least 10, but I think there's deinetly more, especially if you use the online mode.

supposely they also introduce a new food called the forbidden apple. Unlike other foods, everyone loves the rainbow-colored fruit, and it supposedly guarantees a befriending if used. Looks like it can only be gathered via Tbusters. A decent amount is dropped by the awakened/golden bosses

There's also a warp trap that sends you flying to a random part of the room. More of a time waster than anything since the AI yokai come with you instead of separating the group. Even then it only really separates in online play, and all it takes is one guy to find the exit, which allows for everyone to proceed to the next floor

I've got a shmoopie with a superstar soul, but most of my yokai with enemy inspirits are really underleveled

Devourer in the new treasure mode is really op. One of his abilities is to reduce hp per second so every boss is a piece of cake. Anyone wants to play?

Kind of weird how we get Gargaros from this weeks score attack instead of Sailornyan. Since we're fighting her and all i figured it'd make sense to befriend her like for all the other score attack bosses.

You didn't do that save file transfer / storage thing that it says it has on the intro menu? If you made a back up you might be able to use that number you made for it?

Other than that I think the only thing you can do is contact them via email or phone, likely email since that's what I did the one time I had to contact them too. Long as you have ample proof of your file like your name and possibly even friend code or something they might be able to restore it. That's pretty much all I can think of, it'd probably depend on what happened specifically. You'd think they would have like a series of prompts asking if your absolutely sure if you want to delete your file.

I always get jealous on how it's so easy for the guys to get ready when going out. It only takes them a few minutes to get ready - just throw on a T-shirt, some jeans, a pair of snickers, run a comb through your hair and you're ready to go! I was playing Massiface on and off for about 5 days, cranking whenever I had 3000y.

The problem is that one news post says the 3x crank ends on 01/01, a different one says 01/09, I think. Regardless, better get in all the cranking you can.

generally, 2 is a huge step towards 1 and retcons a good deal of what happens in 1, meaning that you don't have to play 1 to understand 2.
In addition, it is somewhat easier to befriend yokai in 2 than in 1, and online play allows for people to trade to cover missing yokai, which makes unlocking legendaries a lot more easier.

2 also has a more centered/coherent plot than the episodic nature of 1, and offers a lot more bonuses for things to do.

Yes and no. Yes they keep the names but if a character has an 'r' in their name (that's not at the end so Whisper is unaffected) it becomes an 'l' because... Japanese. So Komajiro becomes Komajilo, Meramelion becomes Melamelion, and so on. It can be inconsistent at times since they alternate between Orochi and Olochi at times. You get the idea.

Dialogue for the most part unless it's jokes that don't translate well from Japanese to English in which sometimes they have to explain like the Karakuri Benkei toilet joke. "benkeiisjapanesefortoiletbutimnotabenkei!" Also all original songs are kept

As far as Asian dubs go the voice acting isn't too bad and it got better in the second season. I haven't seen any censoring but I think it gets restored once it hits Netflix or DVD for the most part because the only instance of censorship I found was Kanchi's ass where they gave him underwear too but you could still see his buttcrack.

Yo-kai Watch's primary audience is children, and they generally don't care about a Yo-kai's Japanese roots because they don't know what a "Japan" is. If you become too "ruthless" you'll end up no better than a common money-hungry LP'er and you're just gonna come off as a giant shill.

Caught up on the dub.

Venoct vs Rubeus J was shockingly awesome. Did not expect seeing that level of action in this show.

However this "Old Lady Tells Japanese folk tales that we deny are Japanese" segment is awful. Might be the worst since the School Lunch one. Every time it ends with a sci-fi element and it just isn't funny.

And yeah, it's disturbing how they cover up the obvious Japanese origins. The game at least keeps it vague and still has references (Kumamon cameo, they actually bring up Japan at points).
But here we have obvious Kaguya story, obvious Momotaro story, but noooo we can't use those names because reasons.

The worst part is that even if people actually decided to complain about this, even to people who actually had a say in it, nothing would change.

All they care about is their kid focus groups and American kids are educated enough to care about countries other than America.

Not really. Momotaro still has them finding a child in a peach and he grows up to fight Oni. Only with giant mechs since that's the joke they're going for. But yeah even if I saw this in Japanese I wouldn't find it funny.
