Stormhaven is one of the most brittle decks in the game. It has no healing. It has basically no wards.

If you fail to kill them with your burst, it's going to be rough.

We're talking consistency here. Elana-Seraph runs a minimum 5 amulets which, while very strong, are dead pieces without synergy cards. In regards to Elana specifically, if you hard mulligan for it your chances of having it on curve still only hover around 50%, and missing it straight up kills you in a few important match ups. For the remainder you can afford to and usually want to play it later but you're still reliant on not only hitting your important cards, but also hitting them at the right times in all the right match ups. Storm Haven is far more consistent by merit of redundancy, where most of its kit is fine played naked in a deck that also runs a lower curve.

It's also one of the most resilient aggro oriented decks in the game, the idea that you'll lose because you run out of steam shows a fundamental failure to understand what you're doing. The argument that it's fucked for a lack of healing and basically no words shouldn't mean anything on its own when there've been competitive decks through the games entire lifespan that didn't need these. The deck not only has burst, but it has low commitment reach options and followers that're difficult to remove at any gain. And even in the case that we assume all decks need these defensive options, the latest round of Storm builds has been slotting in extra wards and heals at very little loss. One of the reasons the deck performs so much better than Elana in tournament settings is that Elana-Seraph has a very static list and is arguably more fragile to snipe outs than Pure Elana, while Storm has enough tech slots open that people are running it with Radiance Angels.

Consistency isn't about the amount of value you get out of your cards, it's about how often you get to execute your gameplan effectively

naturally, with Elana relying on a 3pp amulet that they have no way to reliably tutor out, it's going to be a less consistent deck than Storm Haven which just shits stuff on the board to hit you in the face with. Not having healing/wards is irrelevant when you're a midrange deck that's bordering on aggro and faster than everything except actual face decks

You need daria 3x and maybe pascale for aggro.

The prebuilt gold are dshift, fire chain, rimewind, first curse and levi. Its mainly for people wanting to make dshift and even then first curse and rimewind is not very good. Only levi is good for all rune.

The thing about Sacred Plea and Beastcall is that they are good no matter what time you draw them.

Early hand, T1 Sacred Plea and T2 Beastcall is one of the most annoying things to look forward too against anyone even without hallowed dogma or other "synergy" cards

Meanwhile, if you draw them mid-late you most likely have said synergy cards in hand.

In short, I would never call sacred plea and beastcall dead pieces, the only time I've felt like they weren't useful was when I top decked three arias at the beginning of a match.

I don't have much of a dog in this debate, however. I haven't been playing long, just wanted to chime in on something that sounded wrong to me.

3 AF + 3 PtP is a terrible idea in a deck without more draw. Cut your count down, 2 PtP is enough to hit it without draw engines if you expect to go to turn 8, and AF isn't your primary shadow generation in a deck like this.

I actually kind of hope that's the initial case. My experience with anime card games is that usually, every set shakes up the meta right now and the new decks eat the old decks until they go back and support them. If we start out with the old decks being popular I think there's still a strong chance that newer decks will come out throughout the expansion without wiping old archetypes off the map.

I am afraid I'll miss the first 3-6 hours of the expansion. But there is absolutely no way I'll be able to stay awake. Especially not two hours from now.

It sucks that I'll miss the actual launch moment of Rise of Bahamut. But then again, I'll probably just mess something up and or build sub par decks if I try to force myself to stay awake. Not to mention the very real possibility of falling asleep in front of the computer while in a game again, which I'd like to avoid.

Except that Storm Haven NEEDs to get an early beastcall or it simply cannot create any kind of board.

With Elana Seraph, you can create the board with either Beastcall OR Elana. You don't need both.

That's why I find it to be the more consistent deck. You can win by drawing Elana OR Aria.

Either one is usually enough to either win outright or stall long enough to proc the Seraph.

It's funny how differently everyone plays T2 and how much it's changed just because of one expansion. That one T2 tier list had Dragon Oracle as the single lowest rated card in all of Dragon. Back before DE came out I used to pick Dragon every time it was available and Sword or Shadow if it wasn't and I'd always shoot for 3+ ramp spells (either Oracle or Aelia), prioritizing them over anything else except Dragon Warrior. The ramp let you take advantage of cards like Dread Dragon or expensive legendaries like Lucifer. It was the class I had the highest win rate with, getting multiple 5-0s.

How do you make a nep deck? I get that the dream is you drop her and get Mordecai + a bunch of bonuses. But it seems you have to make a lot of compromises for a slow combo that doesn't immediatly win the game.

It's fine to run Cerb and Charon, the 5PP Last Words aren't exceptional as is. Just pulling Morde and Unleasher alone is value, since you get 14/16 in stats, of which 5/5 are Morde. The only problem is it's just a raw blob of stats which leads to tempo loss on its own, and Shadow doesn't have much in the ways of healing to last long enough that playing Nep is affordable.
