Early game is not that hard, I would actually avoid alchemy on your first play-through since it can get broken quick. Just, when you're starting out, stick to the roads and make sure you're using equipment your class is proficient with and you'll be ok. Well this is Anna(right). And the other girl is Hannah(left).

They are sisters since i retconned Synn and most of Anna's background story. Hannah is a vampire and helps Anna hide from a certain group of Vampires that partially infiltrated the Winterhold college. They both live on Solstheim, near the skaal village. The skaal shamans are helping Anna dealing with the fact that most of her magical Abilities have burned out.

Vinella and Ilx are married, Ewa is their adopted daughter, Eira's their daughter from about 20 years in the future. Szarekh was Ra's mentor, then he got enslaved along with Ta'xet later by Ra. Grom, Tristan and Ilx were childhood friends and grew up together in Ra's cult, and Eldrane was one of the founding members of the cult. Acathia was created by Szarekh to kill Ra and Ilx. Amon used to hang out with Acathia for a bit but she annoyed him too much so he bailed, and Varus is Ilx's uncle.

While there's some dumb ones on that example (like the Metalocapyse reference) there's plenty that are completely in-setting. Ones that seem typical (say, "Galena" or "Gretchen") make sense because they're on humans, and humans in TES tend towards typical human names. Especially if they're non-Reach Bretons.

Cyan Garamond is literally me recreating one of my favorite characters from Final Fantasy VI.
Camenbaire is an Altmer-ized version of the cheese camembert, because a) the skin tone I started her off with reminded me of it and b) I like cheese, and have a long tradition of naming characters in games after cheese.
Feyrenziah is a mix of bits common to Dunmer.
Steele Explosion is a joke character I rarely use but keep because he's partly in honor of the late, great Peter Steele.

Some did, some didn't. I'm sure it depended on a number of factors like ages, location and occupation (ex living close to Red Mountain, or working in ebony mines.) Morrowind was nice since the heads were all there own thing, there was room for unique variation. In Skyrim everyone's stuck with the same racial wrinkles, which is dumb.

I disagree, I think the current aesthetic is great and fits what the current art designers and developers wanted mer to look like in lore, certainly much better than Oblivion.

Not really, it remains faithful to how their meant to be portrayed.

Improvements in technology allows them to portray their vision better, its not them making bad decisions, its just them changing and improving the style as technology progresses. The jump from Oblivion to Skyrim, visually, was quite significant compared to Morrowind, which has much better aesthetic for character races than Oblivion.

Considering most of the dunmer you see in Skyrim are refugees from Red Year, one could surmise the lot of them haven't really had time to procreate, and instead are just trying to survive after having Baar Dau and Red Mountain destroy the majority of their civilization.
