Bump. I downloaded the ique@home, found some good stuff:
there are two downloads, one ~2mb one ~230mb
the large one has a folder called "data"
it contains a folder called cache
in it, there are 2 layers of subdirectories containing files with the format "xx/yy/xxyyzzz", for example "41/01/4101105"
looking through the file "iqahc.exe" I found some interesting strings, such as some URLs
most of them are dead, but one was interesting:
http://<something>:16963/cds/download?
if we navigate there, it says "invalid or missing content_id"
but if we append a filename from the cache dir, such as ?content_id=4101105, it gives us a binary file (filename: "download")
this has same md5 as what I find in cache.
so, cache contains all games but encrypted
there are 36 files in cache, largest one is 33mb, smallest one is 160kb
no headers, entropy of >99%
this means they're probably compressed
also, the application is based on Microsoft IE

Where do I go from here? Attempt to borrow/make an iQue account? I also found iQue drivers in there, could be reverse engineered. Do people want the iQue ROMs?
>>
>>163886323
I think the crypto is handled by the system itself.

>>163885671
1 requires a decent computer and doesn't require OGL afaik
ZOE2 requires an insane computer and OGL, and I'm talking "bottlenecked by a 770 at native res" requirements
>>
>>163887128
Hmm, maybe. But shouldn't it be encrypted with a system-unique key? Otherwise it'd be trivial to get the master key, and the card is locked to the device.

idk

Maybe it's like other Nintendo systems. Files from the CDN have an extra crypto layer with a key you get when you purchase the game. There's an final layer of crypto on the games with a common key that's the same on every console. The game gets downloaded, has the outside crypto layer removed, then encrypted with a per-console key for storage. When loaded, the console has to remove both the per-console crypto and the common key crypto to access the content.

But I don't know if this ique thing is like that. But that's basically how DSi/3DS/Wii/Wiiu operate.
>>

Been out of the loop for a while, does Dolphin still need a fast CPU to play some games? I got an i5 6500 after I screwed the pooch overclocking and killed my last one.

Do you still have to muck about on the wiki and switch between D3D and openGL, other graphics settings, depending on the game you want to play?
>>
>>163888468
>But shouldn't it be encrypted with a system-unique key?
Post the other content IDs and lets see. I tried these and got 2 different files with the same size:
http://osc.idc.ique.com:16963/cds/download?content_id=4101105
http://osc.idc.ique.com:16963/cds/download?content_id=4101104
So maybe they're the same game encrypted for different console IDs?
>>
>>163889731
No. It would be too resource intensive to have the per-console crypto on the server.
>>
>>163889691
>Been out of the loop for a while, does Dolphin still need a fast CPU to play some games?
Shouldn't, a 6500 is already up there in terms of performance and Dolphin isn't that heavy in most game (hope you don't like EA multiplats though)

So, those numbers are the title ids to games.
2101104 for example is OoT:
http://lacklustre.net/n64/ique/icons/2101104.png

Like I said, these files you get are probably like other Nintendo systems and have an outer layer encrypted with a title key you get when purchasing the game(same key for everyone).
>>
>>163890463
These match up to game IDs listed at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IQue_Player#Games but with some to spare. Maybe demos?
>>
>>163890824
That key for the outer layer is probably stored in the 'tickets' file on the NAND storage. You can find some of those 'tickets' files in the dump available here: https://web.archive.org/web/20150309153957/http://retroactive.be/ique

But on other Nintendo systems the title key in the ticket first has to be decrypted with a common key first.
>>
>>163890824
>>163891078
He has a nand dump listed, could see if you can find exact copies of encrypted files. Since the online stuff is shutting down dec 31, if that's true the key is in the console and so it's a "simple" manuever to extract it.

Is there any hope for emulating obscure plug-and-play tv games?
>>
I have a theory on how it works:
1) You buy a card
2) Redeem code, get a signed message "console id X can use game Y"
3) transfer over and encrypt with device pubkey the already encrypted rom and the signed message
4) console decrypts on-the-fly (there is no ram, all is streamed from nand and decrypted in the ASIC)

So, you probably need decapping to decrypt them
>>
I don't think much more can be learned without a firmware dump. If the purchasing server is going offline, it'd probably be a good idea to buy every game on one ique device so you have all of the crypto keys, then get it in to the hands of someone who can do something with it.

They already exist, just spread over multiple devices. You need decapping or a logical vulnerability in the code to get the global keys, per-console key isn't needed if we can decrypt the cache.

Why do people care about RA 1.4 if you're going to use nightlies anyway?
>>
>>163894457
I don't know. If you compare the ticket files you see there are 16 byte blocks right after the content id(converted to hex) that are different. Maybe the title key is encrypted with the per-console key before storage in the tickets file.

GT4 isn't too CPU dependent (outside of George V), but the recent fixes have brought some sort of shitty stuttering all over the place.

>GT4 isn't too CPU dependent
It's super CPU and GPU demanding if you play with the settings to get it to run at 60fps. With the base PS2 settings it runs like 20fps on a bunch of stages. It's also really annoying to play without savestates because you have to set the progressive mode on startup each time.

Runs on a Phenom 2 fullspeed in HW mode in races provided you give it a good GPU (outside of George V)

> It's also really annoying to play without savestates because you have to set the progressive mode on startup each time.
Disable the automatically eject memcard thing and don't ever save mid endurance race, you should be good, also keeping PCSX2 paused too long in endurance races seems to also trips the save protection that erases your garage.

Use the Opengl renderer
When you say crash do you mean that the game freezes?
Do you have any speed hacks enabled?
>>
>>163920015
The game freezes and it won't run any further. It just happened on the cutscene where you enter the temple and see all the other leaders. Audio still runs but the video is just a freeze frame. Won't undo itself.

Also yeah, OpenGL is recommended but it wasn't fixing the shadows issue and I was trying D3D as an alternative to the freezes, but shit keeps happening.
>>

Also I'm not using any speedhacks. No reason to, at the moment.

Its so early in the game that I might just try the U.S version and see if it happens on that too.

DSiWare is more worth saving, desu. The DSi shop is in download only mode(no new purchases) and shutting down in 3 months. DSiWare available on the 3DS won't go away when that happens, but Nintendo is currently in the process of removing most DSiWare from the 3DS shop because it can be used for downgrading.
>>
>>163938240
I don't own a 3ds. The only way to save it all would be carding and a stolen 3DS tbqh, scripting it and switching memory cards constantly. But I don't know anything about dsiware or 3ds emulation in general.
>>
>>163938659
On a 3DS you'd just need to buy them and dump the title keys, no need to even download.

On a DSi, you just need to download the game and transfer it to the SD card. There's a tool(dsi_srl_extract) that can decrypt and extract the DSiWare from that.

Okay. How much of the shopping can be automated? Can you use a unlocked (not sure of the proper name) to autobuy games, or do you need to modify it to output video, OCR it, and simulate touchscreen? You use a stolen/prepaid card, stolen/bought with cash 3ds (remember, the serial number), and VPN. Then you buy every game, dump keys, call in, report the card stolen, get chargeback. This is highly illegal though, are you sure it's not a better idea to track down people who own a lot of dsiware and dump it from there?

Just to be sure, you know the difference between real people and anims avatars, right? And what makes you think he is *sexually* attracted by these anim boys or that they are sexual icons?

Do you also think young adults playing 15-years old avatars in J-RPG or watching anims with children catching pokemons are pedos? I honestly see no differences with these pictures, no sexual signs anywhere so maybe you are just projecting your own dirty phantasms or you frustration against an homosexual who refused to suck your dick once?

the guy on the reverse engineering site said it could be a rng and a xor cipher. Since they rolled their own ciper I think you could crack it with a dump of the ASIC.

Well they're not just loose ROMs floating around in the ISO. The ROM and emulators are packed together in a single .tgc file. Majora's being ~56MB and OoT being 488MB, so I'm guessing any changes made in these versions probably weren't made to the ROMs themselves.

Intel basically has a backdoor to any recent system that allows people in control of it to do absolutely anything on the computer, theoretically it's a admistration tool for companies and organizations but it's still activated by default on every computer using an intel CPU post 2007 with no official way to disable it.

You can disable it up to Skylake now using some script a guy made, anything more recent is a no-go and it's not proven to be 100% effective.

>>
>>164028497

Nothing advanced at least. The difficulty in writing an emulator is figuring out how the original hardware works and then how to simulate that efficiently. It's not very math-intensive.

3D graphics can require some basic geometry knowledge but it's not exactly rocket science and again if you're just blindly copying what the original is doing exactly you might end up with a cycle-accurate emulator even though you have no idea what it does or why it does it.

You can definitely write a SNES emulator even if you don't know what an integral or a fourier transform are, for instance. Real hardware rarely does anything more complicated than a simple division at a time, if that makes sense.

>>164030441

I doubt you even need any soldering, just write a test ROM that you valid against the real hardware and use that to test your emulator. You don't really need to automate anything since you only have to revalidate the ROM when you add or modify tests. From the ROM you can use special registers to relay the success or failure of the tests that would be NOPs on the real hardware and handled specifically by the emulator or something like that.

I don't understand how anybody can write any serious piece of software without some basic regression testing. Makes developing much more comfortable and pleasant.

Yeah, the guy on the RE site said it might be xor. But then entropy test of (encrypted rom XOR gcn ROM) wouldn't indicate randomness, no? >>
>>164035113
Yeah, but you only need the header to generate the xorpads. This is how it would be done:
1) VPS/dedi bought
2) server set up at home
3) VPS is reverse proxy for server
4) server interfaces with DS
5) server recieves a header
6) server generates hash of header
7) if it matches a previous hash, return that xorpad's torrent (see step 9)
8) if not, generate xorpad on 3ds
9) generate torrent for xorpad (on server), seed for N days (from VPS)

After a long enough operation time, you could retire the server and publish header md5:xorpad torrent infohash
>>
>>164036915

I'm not involved in 3ds emulation at all. But you create the ncchinfo.bin file, use it to make xorpad with decrypt9, then use the xorpad and encrypted rom to make decrypted rom. What I'm talking about is simply a (ugly) way to eliminate the need for a bootrom dump by sharing a 3ds to generate xorpads as needed.
>>
>>164039206
>then use the xorpad and encrypted rom to make decrypted rom
I'm saying I'm pretty sure this isn't how it works. The fact that it doesn't is probably why no one has implemented your idea.
>>
>>164038703
Online IQ test you mean. 100 is average, 90 is 25th percentile. SAT scores are probably a more accurate (and ubiquitous) IQ test than online tests. A real IQ test takes 2-4 hours and is extremely fucking boring, I don't know why you would want to do one.
>>164038982
Nothing.
>>
>>164039327
You only need the title id and the first 16 bytes of the files to set up the AES engine generate the xorpad full.
>>
>>164039418

I think I'm having a storke or something. How did that come out like that.
>>
>>164039418
Ah, so no hashing is even needed. All you need to do is make a site that takes title id + 16 bytes, checks if it's already generated the corresponding xorpad, if it has, show a link to the torrent, if not, generate it and give it to the user via torrent. Also make the title ID + 16 bytes -> torrent info hash list public so anyone can continue it if it gets shut down. Could be made decentralized as well, since verification is trivial (download a random part, generate that part of xorpad, check if it matches) so anyone can use a spare 3ds to help generate xorpads.
>>
>>164039393
No, real legit™ IQ tests are just as fucked as online ones, though for different reasons. The average score, which by definition should be 100, is all over the place between tests and is typically a great deal higher.

I automatically assume anyone that tries to use IQ as proof that they're smart is actually a fucking idiot.

You have almost no control over your video drivers for Windows. They're coded for better performance with native games, which introduces input lag on emulation.

On Linux, you can do whatever the fuck you want with them, pretty much.

Most of the better emulators nowadays are open source, which leads to there not being a lot of difference between Linux and Windows in that regard.

>>164055661
>PS2
PCSX2 is currently working heavily on the OpenGL renderer. It was pretty crappy in the past, but it works well now. Better than DirectX, I'd say.

>>
>>164056212
Nvidia does have the second best Linux graphics drivers, the best being Intel. If you're going to buy a discrete GPU to use in Linux, your best choice is Nvidia.

AMD's OpenGL support is very, very slow in comparison. That's on both Linux and Windows.

Intel's OpenGL support is decent, but unless you have a very modern CPU, it will be very lacking.

>Ishiiruka is Windows only
That seems to be focused on older machines, how is that superior?

You don't need to learn ASM for emu coding unless you're going very deep into micro optimizations. It's useful to know how a computer works at the low level in general but don't bother with the details of x86 ASM, it'll drive you insane and you'll almost certainly give up.

For learning C there are tons of resources out there, just google around. The K&R is still a classic and fairly approachable.

It's not slow. If something else is faster, it's probably using a hacked up core with speedhacks (sometime based on a really old version) or has autoframeskip (yuck) that hides the performance drops from the garbage collector.

Android is not a good platform for emulation performance anyway because of the garbage collector that hinders performance.

I actually don't mind game folders. I don't get why he wants other emulators to use them, but it's perfectly sane. 1 folder = 1 cartridge, instead of approximately 5 arbitrarily named files represent 1 cartridge. Maybe saves should be somewhere else, but that's just a minor implementation detail.
>>
>>164121872
Um, what SNES core? There's a huge performance difference between bsnes, SNES9x 1.54, and older SNES9x cores.

Most of the other emulators just use old SNES9x cores with no option for higher accuracy.
>>

SNES cartridges are already represented by a single file.
What the fuck are you game folder apologists playing? Last one was going on about savestate names despite every emulator worth using has a standard naming convention and now you are talking about cases that don't exist.
>>
>>164122543
But only a ROM doesn't represent the entire cartridge, there are multiple chips that need to be dumped. Inaccurate emulators don't care about this, but the ROM doesn't have all the info.
>>
>>164122209
>>164122053
I didn't use Higan, I used SNES9x, to compare with SNES9x EX(+). SNES9x EX runs at like 400+ fps if you uncap it, Retroarch's SNES9x runs at 30-40 depending on the scene.

I tried other systems, like VBA-M and Gambatte to compare with the other emulators. Slow as fuck.

>>
>>164123614
Not even hard. First, check rom extension/magic. Then, have a list of emulators and games. For instance, if it runs (accurately) on ZSNES, use that. If not, check if it runs (accurately) on SNES9x. If not, use higan. It's just a simple hash list, would just take up ~900kb for all 100 000 nintendo+sega roms in the goodset. Probably less, since you could group together roms and use hash lengths <64bit since bruteforce isn't an issue.
>>
>>164123878
ROMs don't have bit-accurate memory maps. Coprocessors are HLE emulated. Multi-cartridges have multiple physical flash chips which are switched between by a control program. ROM spec doesn't allow this.

>Shit emulator and shit rip, it's like you enjoy getting rectally fisted.

I don't get any performance difference between SNES9x 1.54 libretro and SNES9x EX+. The fastforward function in EX+ uses frameskip to achieve a specific speed as opposed to RA which unthrottles by disabling vsync and audio sync, so that is not a reliable comparison. Also EX+ has autoframeskip enabled by default so it's probably skipping every other frame if your true performance is only 40fps.

Use a faster core like SNES9x 2010 or SNES9x 2005 since your device appears to be weak.
>>
>>164124163

It depends heavily on what dependencies you enable for the build, what cores you install, and whether you use newer menu drivers with the assets.

Windows builds are usually built with all features available so everything works out of the box so they are around 80 megs with all the DLLs and assets zipped. If you use mingw or visual studio to compile it you can cut out dependencies like ffmpeg to decrease the installation size

game-folders are an inherently superior method for *active* ROM libraries. All other methods depend on name-matching, which is a shit method of organizing metadata and floating assets and game-folders don't even preclude doing this.
>every emulator worth using has a standard naming convention
you are so fucking dumb. please, just lurk. you're probably in the wrong general anyway.

RA's UI is built around a simplified gamepad. It is as easy to use as possible given that every piece of the software is accessible using this input device. If you have more than just 2 buttons, there are features to make it easier to use, but if you're bent on quickly changing options with a mouse, MAYBE you aren't actually gaming....or ffs sake use another ui like skeleton key/phoenix.

Does Pokemon Sun run on DraStic?

libretro core is way easier than making a full standalone application because you only need to implement a few callbacks to get it working with a frontend that handles all the OS video, audio, and input integration.

It's the way the devs intended it to be played.

Can't argue with that.

How would you go around adding game covers to RA? I have a few ROMs added with missing covers.

Kakashi randomly bans people/IPs for no reason or because they disconnected too many times. It doesn't matter anyway, that channel is just for byuu forum people to circlejerk and byuu himself never goes there.

I just wanted to test the emulator and it was the smallest ROM I could find.

Ah. I run FX6300 on Linux, no dice. Fixed it by upping CPU clock and some stuff under hacks.
