You can go up to the signs and check them to see how many times you have defeated them in each room. I think you have to kill them something like 3 times each and the floor in the middle of the map will open.

I ended up defeating them 8 times each before I figured it out so it might be more than 3.

Okay so I finally beat the game. Here are my thoughts on it:

>The Good
The story and worldbuilding is, undeniably, out of all translated titles, the best one so far.
The combat itself is pretty solid once you get a lot of party members and can switch them at will.

>The Bad
Some gameplay mechanics promote too much backtracking and grinding. Orbs are particularly awful even if you can grind it easily in the beginning forest. Another concern is the SP, if you have a poor grasp of management skills or due to the low amount of party members at the start, it can be quite a pain having to redo the entire dungeon if you're aiming for 100% completition.
Quests for the most part are boring, merely "go to the star event, go to red star for boss battle, the end" with little to no variety.
The UI in your base is a total mess. Could have been separated in different tabs (Main Quests, side quests, sex/character events...).
Difficulty is badly balanced. Either the game is easy and simplistic or it kicks you in the balls with a mega powerful enemy you have to wait a few turns to progress.

>The Mixed Bag
The mechanics themselves are poorly explained. This seems to be a staple of the series, so people who like discovering stuff and experimenting will love it, while others will hate it.
Some characters are well developed and stand out (Rance, Abert, Urza) but others merely stay annoying (Rocky, Sill) or are barely anything more than walking trophes up until the very end because they have not enough screentime (Conpadon, Rick, Cessna, Prima).
The music is good while playing it, but besides the final dungeon OST, nothing in particular stood out for me to the point where I would listen it outside the game itself.
The game has some glaring pacing issues inbetween getting into the Green Squad and joining forces with Pendragon. Some people may love the slower build up to things, though.

Overall, a solid 7/10. Could have been much better with some issues fixed, but I ended up enjoying .

Lost as fuck in the magic's tower. I went up the tower with no barriers and found the signs but found no lifts or gates or anything.

Also, for some reason old text just skips by super fast; is there a way to fix that?

In my opinion it would be funnier if the trans girl was the cutest of the lot and Rance's dick was totally confused but decided to have sex with her anyway. That'd not only be far more inclusive, it'd make for a better game too as it would feature trans representation and content which a lot of people are into.
