>half want to sperg out and do a bunch of edits to wikia
>remember registration for sites is a pain in the ass.
>remember it's lead by an egomaniac and all wikis are bureaucratic nightmares that appeal only to those with a deep sense of nostalgia for the USSR (but much like formation flying in a sim, where depth-perception is restricted-to-gone, much worse in simulacrum than reality.)
A deep seated need to be useful in combination with not being particularly bright or creative and a refusal to mire oneself in egotism are not a good combination of events. Balancing the soldier route is tedious.

"Wikias (including the AC one) suck, even though in theory contributing to one would be nice, therefore [i] abandon hope."
(As you'll remember from German classes nobody actually takes, "Hoffnung" is "Hope" in German, which was the symbolism of the whole burning it to the ground thing in AC:0, where the war turned from being essentially a good defensive war to a more morally grey one.)

Consider it boredposting.
>>
As a thought experiment, I made up an Ace Combat prequel set in the Strangereal equivalent of the Vietnam War. Except there's 3 sides so you have American planes, European planes and Russian planes from that era.

It's probably a PS4 timed exclusive.

When will they port AC6 outside of 360?
>>
>>163835982
There're some people as well on AC wikia who tend to reply with "just wait", "no point in guessing now. Be patient", or other similar shit.
>>
>>163836132
Yeah, even if it doesn't come to PS3 I'd still remain hopeful of it getting a remaster alongside the Holy Trinity to current gen consoles and maybe PC as well.

Also, maybe make sams more difficult to identify and more deadly.

Kill yourself. Please. You and I both know that you don't give a shit about this general's quality, or you wouldn't be posting these dumb pictures that piss everybody off. Seriously, you're fooling nobody. Everyone that gives you (you)s knows that you're full of shit, and only post those images while giggling like a retarded middleschooler that you're annoying people.

You're not funny. Nobody else is laughing. You are an annoyance, and you know it. You do not care about this general's quality. You post here to shitpost. Stop lying, because nobody is falling for it, except maybe you.

Anyway, no stream of AC3 tonight - it's rather late - but I gotta say, I have some mixed feelings about this game. On the one hand the way the storyline has a bunch of different branches certainly makes it fun to play - your choices actually have real meaning other than just a coin flip between 2 missions. However I don't know how much I like the weird plane handling and high stall speeds. They're different sure, but good different? Not so sure. In addition, the story is kinda awkwardly told.
>>
>>163900168
>only one was me

Can the mods do us all a favor and just fucking nuke this thread?

Yet again, shitposter-kun has done his utmost to ensure that no one enjoys themselves.

Because of problems in his own life? We may never know.
>>
>>163900168
>xd triggered
>xd ur mad bro
Are you a small child? The only people that find posting stupid shit with the express purpose of annoying people (and doing nothing more) funny have the emotional maturity of a 12 year old.

Not to mention, why on earth are you shitting up an actually nice community, of all places? If you enjoy watching places burn post in /sc2g/ (if it still exists) or /srg/ or something. Your retarded posts won't look out of place there, and you'll be contributing to wiping a shitty general off the board at that. Is it autism, an acknowledgement that you lack the ability and resolve to shit up a larger general that will actually fight back, or is it just hatred that people enjoy a game series that you dislike? I'm actually curious.
>>
>>163900168
Oh also, no one plays AC:I anymore

>>
>>163900662
I'm fully aware.

Honestly I think that the only thing that will improve this board is deletion, mods take 15+ hours most of the time to remove off topic baitposts, not to mention people that appear on a superficial level to be on topic but are actually just shitposting. Whatever, fuck em. Have a picture of AC3.

Remember that mods and janitors, however many or few they may be, have to handle every single report, even the bullshit blanket bombing ones, across this entire ten page high speed board. Can you reasonably expect them to always have instant response times, pinpoint accuracy, and the ability to know what each and every general, hell each and every person in the generals, considers shitposting?
>>
>>163902362
Hell no, I know it's an unsolvable problem. It's not something I expect to be fixed because it's not reasonable considering the scope of the site. It just depresses me that edgy little teenage shitheads can ruin nice and comfy places like this just through sheer will of autism.

At least the dev should've told his customers why he is on hiatus right now.

>"Neucom used to be EASA"

Megafloat was built by Neucom. Its construction began sometime around 2004, when AC4 takes place.

The first floating platforms can be seen near Rocky Islands in AC4, to the far East of Usea.

This shows that not only Neucom already existed since at least 2004, it seemed to already exist along with EASA, therefore not being an Erusean company, as Erusea is situated to the West of Usea, which separates it from Megafloat's location.

It should also be noted that Megafloat was built to be a massive research & military installation, and secondly, a city. Usea would've never let it be built during wartime if it were an Erusean project.

Neucom is its own company.

I want you to know that I've seen you're post and that I'm reday to debate.

But I'm gonna take the short road this tiem.

According to one of the two Search documents on Neucom, the EASA got underwent privatization and after a number of acquisitions in the air-line and space sectors, it became Neucom. There's no date given to either this or when the Megafloat project began which tells me that the info from AC04 posted by you is compatible with what's said in AC3.

I have sources in English (not google translate) and in Russian, but I won't link them because I'm an asshole. An asshole yes, but not a liar, so if you look for them on google, you'll find them.
>>
>>163930723
>>163937759
Is it not entirely possible the case is both?
Real life had a Megafloat too (though IIRC the under-construction megafloat only appears in a challenge mission and may not be canon.) so hypothetically you could have the Pan-USEA megafloat experiment or what have you, just to see if building a big island is viable, then when EASA is privatised it looks around and goes "Right, they look like a clever bunch, let's buy them out."

Having Googled, I can't find the translated search files nor are they in the readme of the translation patch (I was lied to!) but that's irrelevant to my lazy speculation.

What is the nature of Usea anyway? I've always considered it a continent, but occasionally it seems to be discussed in more EU-style terms. By AC3 I presume it's one united nation, but AC2 happening across multiple different countries seems very odd indeed.
>>
What was with the Geofront anyway?

Were the structures inside it (during the tunnel flight) for computers, etc, or were some of those inhabited? How would one travel inside the geofront to begin with? (rail, car, etc. i assume most people don't take an R-103), when you destroy the support beams is it going to collapse and kill everyone in it (hey, we already did megafloat or just weaken the structure such that someone's going to have to send down a repair team because maybe the roof is outside structural tolerances now.

Was it a general use-city or a research facility like Megafloat? Was it owned by General, Neucom, or the civilian government?

Is any of this written anywhere, or am I overthinking "it's a big cool tunnel area where you get to fight now shut up"

I have no clue, but with how little supports where were I don't think you could collapse it by destroying those. How exactly the ceiling holds up though, no clue.

That said I figured it was just an underground city, possibly coupled with a source for those generators that powered the Night Raven.

The tunnel was probably also just a load of buildings and stuff, given how odd it got towards the end with all the walkways and stuff.

>What was with the Geofront anyway?

From the japanese wiki, google translate:

"Huge underground city of general resource. It is built in the city of St. Arc in the northeastern USEA, which was destroyed by the fall of the meteorite. Geo Front is the meaning of an underground city. It is connected to the ground with an underground tunnel called a geo front pass, and maintains its structure with many shafts (struts). The shaft incorporates an urban detonation system that is used to prevent technical outflows during emergencies such as disasters, and in the unlikely event it is possible for the entire city to collapse by blasting of the struts. Because of the nature of the underground city, many aeon generators are installed as air purification system."

Seems to be a full-fledged city but I refuse to believe GR kills who knows how without anyone saying anything about it, so they either evacuated everyone or still uninhabited. The wiki also talks about an intercontinental road which or may not be related to Geofront. Maybe it's the road which connects the mainland to the Geofront.

Neucom's Megafloat was also meant to be a moving city in addition to harboring their naval fleet (maybe even a research facility since Neucom is all about science) but on this wiki it says that it's just for or mostly for Neucom employees at first. So I guess it's just Neucom people during the game.

About dision. When did we go from "dision in the sim has a real body" to "dision is the product of IRL sublimation who has infiltrated the sim"?
>>
>>163951160
Wait, I always thought Dision was just part of the simulation like everyone else. He just got dealt an even shittier hand than the rest.
>>
>>163951160
It's a long story.

GR was working on the Darkness of Enigma project, which is basically a secret research to connect pilots straight to their planes directly through their brains so they'll be better pilots. Yoko was one of the researchers who was working on this.

Simon used to work for GR (presumably in the same project) and he fell in love with Yoko during his time there, but (the real) Dision showed up and cucked him, snatching Yoko away.

Simon then transfered to Neucom, and began to think about how he could take Yoko back. That's when he came up with the AC3 simulation to find a way to wipe Dision off the map without taking the blame. Given he had a doctorade in AI development, he created an AI - Nemo - to operate it rather than having to do it himself or ask anyone else to do it.

His simulation suggests that Yoko manages to sublimate Dision before GR black ops blow them the fuck up (this is a plot point created by the simulation). It also suggests that, in order to AI Dision go apeshit, somebody has to frame GR so they'll blow Yoko the fuck up.

The answer to that would be Rena, the ambiguous retard who thinks Dision is her friend. The simulation considers that she's convinced (by someone) that Dision and GR were just using her as a guinea pig for the DOE project, and when she finds out it's true, she transfers to UPEO and tells everyone about it.

People find out about it and start bashing GR for human ethics. GR covers it up by blowing Yoko and everyone else invoved with DOE to hell (hence why Simon transfered to Neucom), and AI Dision goes apeshit, ultimately making him a villain and a target.

As the secret ending shows, regardless of what happens after Rena tells the world what GR was doing, Nemo fights and erases AI Dision from the electrosphere.

1/2
>>
>>163953829
>>163951160

Unlike simulated "real" Dision, AI Dision isn't just a "character" who only appears in a few cutscenes like the others like an NPC with pre-made speeches and actions. Unlike the others, he is made into an actual AI by the simulation to fight Nemo over and over in every ending. And in order for that to happen, his data has to be kept as is instead of being reset, as he fights Nemo for multiple reasons in every ending.

As he was an AI, he could presumably do everything Nemo could, instead of being chained to what the simulation dictates. He had to be there the whole time after he came into play. In the game, "real" characters either die off or get a specific ending and that's it, but not AI Dision. He gets to travel in the electrosphere just like Nemo and spy on everything, gradually learning more things after each ending.

In short, it can be assumed that AI Dision attained enough information in the simulation to develop self-awareness and realize he was an AI, just like in an actual machine-learning proccess (i.e. the "training" simulation Nemo is going through.)

AI Dision didn't infiltrate the sim. Simon accidentally created another AI in the AC3 simulation, which is, theoratically, possible.

This is in acecombat wikia. Anyone got a sauce on what they're talking about?

I don't assume it's total nonsense because some AC3 press-release material gave various characters real-world birth locations, but I'm interested as to what the AC4 development stuff is.

Also, it wasn't Rena's fault. GR chose not to keep the project secret, let her take part in interviews and gain fame. When the press started putting the whole thing into question, GR pulled the plug on its questionable projects, in Yoko's case very violently with one as collateral damage (GR's ace, Dision). Is the Ace Combat game on Steam any good? I kind of want to buy a stick and play some sick aerial combat.

>>

>>
>>164010017
It's nothing like typical Ace Combat. It's very tryhard cinematic, too much shaky cam with oil spraying all over the place and shit trying to be all 'this is what REAL war is like' (see link related), it forces the on-rails segments on you, the writing is bad, the villain is lame, there are a whole plethora of problems with the game that make it really not worth the money. AH is a try-at-your-own-risk sort of thing.

At this rate I wish that someday they'll bring AC7 to Steam after the PS4 build is released.
>>
>>164014035
Frankly, if you have a decent computer, you're much better off emulating the PS2 games, if legit AC gameplay is what you're after.
>>
>>164014778
Well, I have an average gaming laptop and have emulated the PS2 games albeit still having to depend on frameskip during certain parts, even on HW rendering. Too bad the HW mode for AC04 emulation is still buggy with the textureless player's jets.

I'm pretty sure there's at least two or three clones floating around on Steam.

Vector Thrust is one, fun for the challenge mode and mission editor, albeit it's kinda dead now.

Raider's Sphere 4th or whatever is apparently a good clone. The art looks horrible though and the plane designs aren't great.

Sky Rogue is some RL thing.

Other than that it's really only emulation or AH.

I didn't know that AC Advance was on Steam.
>>
is it me or is AC3 more a movie than a game?
it sort of feels like it. most of the time you can ignore everything but TGTs with no penalty since planes are just handed to you anyway and missions tend to only have a small number of TGTs, the average mission seems to last ~2-3 min

I still love it, but gameplay wise 3 is a downgrade from 2. (although it's beautiful and as far as i know actually uses a semi-proper physics engine which is the reason planes are so sluggish compared to 2.)
>>
>>164019565
AC3 doesn't feel like AC at all to me. It feels like you're playing a game adaptation of some late 90s sci-fi anime.
>>
>>164019651
i think the highly artificial nature of the conflict is (by intent or by accident) portrayed too well, which makes it more difficult to get invested in it
was it Cynthia who called out Dision for basically just stating mock battles? that's how large parts of the war feel. Towards the end when you notice little details (like some of the non-target enemies being UPEO and some being GR/Neucom/Ouroboros, with the non-Ouroboros ones basically ignoring you.) that make it feel like the war is really stepping up, but since most of the time you're just blowing up corporate hardware miles away from anything important it doesn't really have the feeling of success you get when you're liberating San Salvacion/Directus/Griswall/Gracemeria fuck yeah. It's more of a background event.

Whether that's just a side-effect of sperging out and focusing on the world over the characters, or an intentional portrayal of a corporate war that - for the average person - amount to an occasional R-101 crashing into the streets on the news until suddenly the internet starts telling you to kill your mailman then upload yourself, i don't know.

"Broken Truce" is one of the most comfortable missions in AC history, though. That soundtrack, that rain.
>>
>>164020234

Oh hey, looking through AC3 world and view I found that Neucom did used to be EASA

HOWEVER

EASA = Euro-Asia Space Administration, not Erusian Air and Space Association. (Which makes their ownership of Comona far more understandable.)

More interesting it also gives you some TAC codes. For GR (page 40) Abyss (Dision?) Madcap (I assume Keith, as I've seen him referred to as Mudcap... somewhere.) And "Hopeful" (..?)

Now, interesting point: in the AC3 English intro you get a woman's voice saying something like "Controller, this is Hopeful on final approach" at ~0:30. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bf0VcCNi-0s

Neucom codes are "Priest" (Cynthia) "Sister" (Fiona) and Fireman (Nemo? But then Hopeful is presumably Nemo. Or maybe they're AWACS or something I DON'T KNOW.)
>>
>>164019651
Possibly because they were trying to cash in on the cyberpunk hype and GitS thing going on at the time. Or at least so I've heard.

It's an odd entry, but at least it's fun to play.

And just for completion, the GRDF page.
So that raises some questions, since Nemo doesn't speak and Simon refers to him in male terms.
If Hopeful was a Neucom or UPEO code it would make more sense (as Fiona/Cynthia could be speaking on behalf of Nemo.) but General? Who knows.

Or maybe the Story was always planned for radical alteration.
>>
>>164020234
Speaking of Cynthia of Neucom, what is her bra size, the color of her panties, and her sexual orientation?
>>
>>164023462
None none and none, because the only moral route through the game is to stick to Fiona like glue which means Cynthia is computer data only now. Her body is a mangled mess of skin stuck to airship parts 1000ft under water in the gulf of St. Ark.

Alas, I'm not Fionaposter. If it was Erich in the R505 then I'd be Erichposter. It really is the only moral way to play. (Well, I guess you can let Rena shoot the R505 down but that's not very nice either. Gabriel W. Clarkson did nothing wrong and one look at Park will tell you he's a baddie.)
Then once you've gone to Neucom you can hardly justify defecting to a terrorist group, so you're stuck with them to the end. Press F. to pay respects to Cynthia and Megafloat.

p.s. Dision really isn't very nice. ("From the way you [Cynthia] speak about the Electrosphere, you'd think you thought it was a heaven... If you want to go to heaven you should join your sister [Fiona, killed in an 'accident' at a Neucom base.]")

Which reminds me to ask: Did Dision ever actually believe in sublimation (well, after the start of the game - presumably he did as part of DOE), or did he just want to goad people into blowing shit up because being trapped on the internet for decades would put any man crazy? (I should know.)
OR did he sublimate people specifically because he thought it was awful and wanted them to suffer too? Dision is very confusing. He laughs at Cynthia wanting sublimated in her route, but (forcibly?) Sublimates people in that General Resource mission with all the screaming.

That's an interesting footnote (Unless there was something special about the flight not in the record, we'd outdone that record in the 1960s. Can one presume that at least in 1995, there'd been no Strangereal moon landing? I suppose it's reasonable. It's not hard, it's just tedious.
You go from all that excitement and destruction to "Okay, now you're going to spend 10 minutes ensuring a very slow plane inaccurately reproduces your flight-path through a SAM site."

Worst of all is that generally shortcut routes just get it shot down so you've got to take the longest and most tedious way.

>You go from all that excitement and destruction to "Okay, now you're going to spend 10 minutes ensuring a very slow plane inaccurately reproduces your flight-path through a SAM site."

Easiest tunnel in the series is 4's by a long shot.
>>
>>164049843
It is.

AC3's tunnels are wide, there's 3 to choose from (which close at random), mixed in with tight tunnels full of support beams and shit everywhere.

ACX2's tunnels go fucking vertical since they're actually nuke silos instead of tunnels.

ACZ's tunnel is the least straight one of all the games with sharp turns everywhere, a shitload of V2 hatches which require ~3 gunruns unless you're using large dumb bombs or the morgan's SPW, and you gotta do it all under 3 minutes.

All of this comes after you survive an onslaught of SAMs firing a missile per second at near point blank, followed by jets chasing after you.

I don't remember how 4's played out.

I guess it's just the longest, and those cranes and whatnot can fuck you up the first few times around.

What are the other ones though?

Avalon is easy and Megalith and Chandellier are barely tunnels. The one to Geofront qualifies and maybe that missile silo from Joint Assault. But I don't remember the latter too well.

This is actually a very interesting observation on the setting. They never designed rockets that would alow them to go to the moon, yet they designed low orbit spacecraft by 1995 (Arkbird) and by AC7 (2020?) they have built a space elevator, which presumably disapears by 2040, or will be retconned as ignored.
Bringing down the elevator might be a plot point.
>>
>>164055550
The explanation given by the Rebels show is that they stole the Y-Wings from the Empire halfway through decomission, where a lot of them were being scrapped and thuds didn't have all their panels or armour installed anymore.

If the lazy engineers are still canon, noone knows. But I like to believe it because it's just so silly.

>>164055614
Strangereal might be too busy with big wars to go to the moon for all we know.

But yeah I can imagine that killing the elevator or protecting it could be the focus of a mission or so.

You know, it's really weird how it's easier to unlock the Falken than the Wyvern in AC5
>>
>>164068342
I'll be honest, I never bothered with all aircraft in most of the games. I only remember that the Wyvern was tied to that part finding game.

Can someone explain to me how that thing worked exactly?
>>
>>164068748
The Falken was the one with the parts. There were warehouses in missions 12A/B, 16A/B and 27. Once you destroyed all the warehouses and recovered all five parts, the Falken became available.
>>
>>164068748
The Falken was the one where you had to destroy the warehouses, and it's simple enough to do.

The X-02 requires you to unlock every single plane in the game, which means you have to grind to level up all planes to unlock the plane trees.

I wish the rest of the series continued AC3's plane "unlock" style, where the company (or military) you're working for develops/purchases/imports new planes for you to use after every mission, increasing your arsenal bit by bit rather than having to unlock everything.

It just felt good in AC3, like you're actually working for a corporation, being rewarded new planes for doing your job.

Feels a lot like Joint Assault, which is to say, not great. In fact, I think it's actually worse because I can barely keep my thumb on the circle pad. That might just be because I'm not quite used to the 3DS yet, but I don't think it will change much as I keep playing.

I just don't know about this game. I think I would have preferred a 1:1 port of the original AC2 instead, sort of like the Sega 3D Classics that were so excellently done.

The dude flying it doesn't look anything like 13 outside of having silver hair though.

And even AC5's scriptwriter wouldn't go so far as to ruin a whole game's plot by having 13 fail to die when he was killed. Old games had some great characters but it's time to entrust the future to the next generation. Old characters should have brief cameos at most.

I just re-watched the new trailer and a thought just struck me. The idea of a penal fighter squadron seems solid, but are we SURE we fight for Osea in this new game? We certainly fly planes with Osean roundels but those might not be the same thing.

Interviews talk about the game combining the perspectives seen in AC4 (outsiders far removed from the MC commenting on the events) and AC5 (following the player and people in his/her unit). The penal unit idea seems supported by all the shots of jail cells and prisoners. But are they Osean prisoners? Or Eurusian? The two confirmed prisoners we see (chocolate waifu and not-buddy) have that discussion about "the fool" and judging by the tone of the conversation, it's probably about MC. After that radio announcement about Eurusia's declaration of war on Osea, Trigger asks "isn't 'that country' a whole continent away?" It isn't clear which country is which (IE is she in Osea talking about Eurusia, or in Eurusia talking about Osea?). The voice that probably belongs to Flanker Jii-san (he talks when Flanker jii-san is doing his helmet startup, though the pilot is never explicitly shown moving his mouth to that particular dialogue) also talks smack to the “convicts,” telling them he controls whether they live or die. We know the flanker guy is Eurusian, and if he’s also the ones who oversees the “convicts,” and MC is a member of these same convicts, then doesn’t that associate the whole unit with Eurusia?

The above is far from conclusive, but one other thing that piqued my interest is that Eurusia actively "declares war" on Osea, not the other way around. What would be their reason for doing so? Yes, we all know it's those sneaky weapons merchants behind it, but what would be their formal justification? (1/2 due to nipmoot refusing to uncuck joot’s wordcount)

File: ISEV sunset.png (1MB, 1498x840px) Image search: [Google]
ISEV sunset.png
1MB, 1498x840px
>>164091481
Articles have mentioned that the ISEV is the site of some sort of tragedy. That big ass drone carrier is also mentioned as patrolling to protect the ISEV. Weirdly enough, MC has also been shown engaging it in both trailers.

Given that they've mentioned that drone technology replacing people is a part of the game's themes, it's possible the Hresvgleiger 3.0 gets hacked and you have to shoot it down to protect the ISEV.

On the other hand, if you put together the above information with the facts that
1. The game has an angle that imitates AC5’s story perspective and they share the same scenario writer
2. AC5 is the only game in the series that has a primary story focus on you and your allies
3. AC5 is also a game where 60% of the story is you playing for evil, incompetent jerks who hate your whole unit for no reason and
4. Almost every story character we’ve seen with a certain national allegiance is Eurusian

Then an alternate plot setup becomes possible: you play as a penal unit, but a Eurusian one, not an Osean one. The Eurusians make you do false flag attacks and other dirty shit they don’t want to be openly associated with. They need a reason to declare war on Osea (possibly related to that development program with the flanker), so they gussy you up with planes using Osean roundels and have you attack the ISEV. We don’t know where the ISEV is located (this screen reminds me a lot of Farbanti but that’s entirely a gut feeling with nothing to back it up aside from the fact that we know there are other reoccurring locations like Stonehenge), but if it’s in any way related to Eurusia then having “Osean” planes attack it is the perfect justification to declare war.

This is all obviously just speculation at this point, but starting off the game playing as this conflict’s equivalent of Ofnir/Grabacr instead of a squeaky clean grunt unit that has no idea what’s going on would be an interesting plot perspective.

USEA canon is fucked.

That's one of the lesser things (while not directly stated, we know that by AC3 that USEA has united into a single entity, so it's plausible that all the different space agencies (including ErusisaASA) came together and became EuroAsiaSA, which then got privatised.

Meanwhile
>Republic of Amber is nowhere near the Amber mountains.
>Stonehenge is (apparently) retconned into Delarus in AHL
>AHL still leaves the status of Usea as a whole confusing as hell, since you've got Usea (continent) USEA (United States of Euro-Asia), the FCU (Federation of Central Usea), UTO (Central Usea Treaty Organisation.), and then on top of that the confusing nation of a Usea wide coup.
>Twinkle Islands are notionally part of Erusea but in AHL Erusea doesn't get couped maybe because it's loving the fact there was a coup because fuck Osea?
>There's a standoff between FCU forces and Erusea before asteroidfall, but the FCU and Erusea might not even share a border.
>>
>>164085631
>There certainly seem to be some things that's don't fit in right.

Here's one example: USEA as a name for that land first appeared in 3, as an acronym for blahblahblah. In 04 it's just Usea all of a sudden.

Just one of a few signs that Project ACES rebooted the franchise with the creation of Strangereal when 04 was made. The tagline for that one was "It's changing everything again".

Some things can still fit but for the most part it's impossible to trace a line from 04, 5 and 0 to AC3 without gaps in logic and truckloads of assuming.

AMD demo.png

tested out performance on an AMD card today, compared to 45 FPS from the last demo build we hit 50-60FPS which I think is good enough for MVP. Connecting from Australia to Swedish servers gave a noticeable twitchy effect on other player but was an improvement from the rampant rubberbanding we were experiencing earlier and I think it's quite playable if not 100% visual perfection.

Mission structure code is starting to get put in with waypoints, etc. completed recently, going to focus on stomping some bugs that came out during this test though and fixing the insane bloom on the Flanker.

I regularly sit down and think "Hey, I've got lots of free time, can write acceptably when I put my mind to it and all the good AC games, I should go digging and help make the Wiki nicer."

Then I remember that all I'd really be doing is subtly improving Sly's ability to "look at me, look at me, i do a good thing" and I conclude that if I ever make a wikia account it's just going to be to insert subtle fanfiction and paragraphs where the first word of every line forms profanity into articles.

SlyCooperFan is the admin of the AC wiki, and quite literally thinks he knows everything about it, and constantly talks down his nose to everyone about it, even going so far as to use the fact that he's the admin as a 'get-out-of-an-argument-free' card.

Example:
'Sly, I'm pretty sure A, B, and C are the case.'

And rather than him countering your argument with proof and facts, you simply get this:
>'I'm the admin of the wiki, I think I know what I'm talking about.'

You whine about elitism but Thunder is probably the least elitist one here. You wanna talk about elitism, go look at the old steam group. Nonstop shittalking about the thread.

>You mean getting to know people
Yes. It has interesting effects when the entire point of the community is to be anonymous.

I'm not even saying I object to it, I'm just saying that's what it's like. I've actually argued strongly in favour of moving at least one community totally offsite.

It's not just making friends. It eventually comes up when someone goes "Who's the guy with shit taste in the thread?" or something, which then has odd effects if you won't admit it with a name or the person isn't present in the thread. You then also get "Okay, [name]" as a way of joking in the thread even though it only makes sense to those in the chat.
>>

>>

Honestly at this point the problem is either yours or the streaming website's. It's not like streamers can magically make the streams work on your connection.

>>164133719
>the entire point of the community is to be anonymous
Not outside of 4chan. Besides, why are you making such a fuss over this? Can you only have a normal conversation with someone when you don't know each other's names?
>>
>>164133954
I never complained about missing a stream, I just gave the reason I'd never actually been in one.

My first post in this discussion was >>164133068 , I'm not making a fuss. I just bet that "elitism" was being used as a stand in for "circlejerking" even though the two aren't directly synonymous.

Though in response to
>Can you only have a normal conversation with someone when you don't know each other's names?
I can only have a normal conversation when I know names. It's the abnormal conversation - where words are only worth what they say - that I value more, though.
Someone saying nice things anonymously is generally doing it out of genuine goodwill, whereas someone with an identity is quite possibly just fishing for favours.
(But that's more ideological thought than practical.)
>>
>>164134283
>saying nice things to someone you know is only fishing for favors, not just being a decent human being

Anonimity can also allow people to shitpost all they want and get away with it, because their shitposting is also nameless.
>>
This thread just went full "Last Tango in Paris."
>>
>>164134772
Here's where the fun part sets in online: since one can create new accounts with relative ease, shitposting with a username is just as easy as shitposting without one.
Contributing on the other hand becomes more messy: With a username you gain a reputation to lose if you later want to shitpost, whereas anonymously you're always forgotten.

Naturally there are times for anonymity and times for names. If you try to black-and-white it you're even more autistic than I.

So weebs I've done some more research and if you have a graphics card that supports Vulkan the RetroArch mednafen fork is probably the best way to emulate ps1 games on pc right now. It's still pretty cpu intensive but that shouldn't be a problem for any modern computer but it does high resolution without skipping a beat and has all of the pgxp stuff right there to use. Even my shitbox with an i5 750 from 2010 and an r9 270 can do 4x internal res (which sounds not that hard but compare to software mednafen which I can barely do 2x with) and more modern cpus/gpus can easily do 8x internal (which is honestly comically huge - 8x ps1 resolution is something like 2560x1920 or 2560x1792). With the pgxp stuff preventing the textures and polygons from floating around the game actually looks pretty good - roughly on par with early ps2 games, albeit with mediocre texture quality. You can check these posts for what it looks like:
>>163956919
>>163957082
>>163957257

Eventually I'll get around to writing a guide on Vulkan specificially but there's already some pretty good guides on the emugen wiki for RetroArch usage in general

>>
>>164136704
That you have to do it all again with Retroarch.
>>
>>164136780
I mean if you've already got a setup that works for you I'm not telling you to redo it. This is for people who don't already have an emulator set up.

I don't understand why you're being defensive desu, mednafen is a perfectly fine emulator if a little confusing at times.

>This led to Osea constructing the Arkbird spacecraft in the 1980s, which would serve as an anti-ballistic missile platform. In response, Yuktobania began building ballistic missile submarines, amongst which were the Scinfaxi & Hrimfaxi-class submarines.
As-read that's hilarious.

>Hey Ivan, Osea's got a laser in space that will fuck our missiles
>No problem Ivan, let's just build missile submarines
>Ivan, didn't you hear? Missiles will just be of--[Ivan was Gulag'd for this post.]

I suppose in-game you can see the actual tactic (just launch more missiles so Arkbird can't keep up) but it seems questionable they could verify it only had one laser.
>>
>>164139829
Didn't the laser get installed after the subs were built?

Wasn't that a relatively hasty fieldmod? One that the Yukes tried their best to prevent from happening?
>>
>>164140515
My assumption is that Arkbird was always built as a weapon of war. It already had laser aboard post-Ulysses, presumably once the area around earth was clean they took the laser out and put in G7 delegate comforts or scientific equipment. When the war kicked off, the lasers went back in.

Is Yuktobania supposed to be the equivalent of some Eastern European country? I thought that was Estovakia
Or should I just not question project aces?
>>
>>164143405
Yuktobania = USSR (I believe it's even the Union of Yuktobanian Republics or such.)
Estovakia = Also some vaguely eastern European guys.

I mean you've got the FCU, Emmeria and Osea all pretending to be America as well.
I know, I know, the former two also have some vague european...ness.
>>
>>164141076
Just replayed 5, the Arkbird was a joint project between Osea and Yuktobania as a way to help destroy asteroid debris. It was also built AFTER the Yuke subs, as the subs were built in response to Osea bolstering their defense network, not the Arkbird.
>>
>>164143760
>the Arkbird was a joint project between Osea and Yuktobania
Wasn't that the mass-driver?

Though how one builds Arkbird without a mass-driver I have no clue.
>>
>>164143405
The Yukes are absolutely USSR, and Osea is absolutely the USA. They even have a cold war at one point lol.
>>
>>164143832
Pulling from the wiki now so don't yell at me if it's wrong but

"Both Osea and Yuktobania built the Arkbird to eliminate asteroid fragments lingering in orbit. The Arkbird was equipped with energy weapons manufactured in both countries, including a powerful Yuktobanian beam-laser system on its ventral side. Years after the Ulysses disaster, the Arkbird had succeeded in clearing 80 percent of the orbital debris."

Pretty dumb for the Yukes to give Osea an aerial super beam for free lol
>>
>>164143552
Though it's probably not related, Estonia is a real country north of Latvia that's had a lot of shit with Russia over the years. Estovakia is tied to Yuktobania somehow but I always forget how.

You know that one guy that always whines about SlyCooperFan1 always seemed a bit full of shit but nah, that guy is just a fucking asshole. Seriously, read this shit:

http://acecombat.wikia.com/wiki/Thread:30974

Like yes, he is correct, but he is being an unnecessarily abrasive and frankly rude guy for no apparent reason here. Why do these people always end up in charge of shit?
>>
>>164177770
So Superjaws says all that shit and his first response is to correct him on the company name like a fucking know-it-all 8th grader? What a fucking prick.

>Frankly, I don't think we have enough of a fanbase to justify a remake of Ace Combat 3.
>Great, you know three people. Three players' support does not get a game made.

And then the crown jewel of this almighty shitshow
>this reply has been removed
>this reply has been removed

So not only is he a frigid cunt to everyone in that thread, he just deletes posts that trigger him?

I thought >>164127804 was hyperbole, but slycooperfan actually thinks he's the leader of the fanbase, doesn't he? He seriously thinks he speaks for the fans.

How in the blue flying fuck did this autistic asshole become admin of jackshit?
>>
>>164178780
It's entirely possible that the deleted posts were just flaming, no need to jump to conclusions. But yeah, I think it's equally likely that they were just posts that he didn't like.

Missions 1 and 2 ease you into the story, but are shit for gameplay.

Missions 3 and 4 feel like 'proper' missions, but can be tedious on NG+ because you're forced to use the F-5E in Campaign Mode. At least the Tiger II is decently agile for a starter plane.

Imagine being an egomaniac who craves power, but also being an autistic manchild who can't accomplish anything meaningful in the real world.

How do you solve this conundrum? Make yourself the self-proclaimed representative of a niche fanbase.

Regular people won't waste time 'debating' with you (because you're stupid and will never quit, and these people have lives), further boosting your ego as you 'reign' unopposed. Other autists will try to argue with you, but your self-proclaimed leadership of the fanbase, 8th grade debating skills, and general disregard for human decency will see you prevail, and claim your rightful title as the God Emperor of Dogshit Mountain.

Well guys, this is it. The end of 2016. Made friends, made memes, had some AC7 news, and watched a ton of streams. 2016 saw us our share of hardships, both individually and as a thread, but we stayed buddies through the worst and the best of it. I'm not sure what 2017 has in store for us, but we'll be buddies through it all.

Here's to you guys, and here's to another year of memes, streams and buddies!
Here's to the finest thread on /vg/!

Happy 2017 fellas!

Ok, my bad.

It's a Weapons Loadout table for Thunder's RPG, basically it's meant to show how much of each weapon can fit on a hardpoint.

SPWs are stuff like bombs or missiles, this page will also have a little chart saying what each SPW is.

So the table on top shows how much of each weapon type can fit on each hardpoint, so Station 5 can fit either SPW1 x3, or a drop tank.

Hopefully this next image makes it more clear.

I've been messing around with PCSX2 and managed to get reasonably good settings which allow for FRAPS recordings.

I did Final Option, no HUD. It's quite a cinematic level without it cluttering up the screen.

I'm able to run the game at 1920x1200 with Textures x3 in Hardware Mode and Anistropic Filtering at x16 and it's completely fine. However, if I try and record at the same time it sometimes slows down too much so I just put it down to 720p.

>>164310783

Yeah it's funny. Why would he transmit himself going "WOOAAH" anyway, are fighter jet radios not PTT?
>>
>>164311306
Same thing with Nagase sniffling over the radio right after Chopper gets shot down.
>>
>>164311306
They probably are, all the other radios on planes are because they can only transmit or receive generally.
>>
Maybe it's a switch. Because you might not think to push the button in the middle of combat or whatever.
>>
>>164310418

That's weird. I'm watching it back now and there's some stuttering on YouTube which isn't in my actual video file. I wonder why that's happened.

I'm doing an AC5 playthrough on PCSX2. I just did Cruik Fortress with a F14B armed with GBP.

I completely forgot that 8492 follows on with no plane select in between. And, because as a point of principle I have to defeat them all rather than simply escape, this is proving quite hard.
>>
>>164341037
man you think that's bad, try doing it with an F-4.

>>
>>164342407
the F-4 was good at the time but the timeframe for every Ace Combat so far has been after it was good.
>>
>>164341037
I flew the Flatpack with unguided bombs I think on ace difficulty, forgetting about 8492 that followed

I surprised even myself when I S-ranked that mission. Man, I had the missile alert tone in my ears constantly.
>>
>>164341651

Normally I use a Typhoon and just go toe to toe with them. That's not really working here because their SU47's can easily out-turn the F14B. So I'm trying to slingshot around the mountains to avoid their missile locks and come at them, head on pass.

Ok, did it. I think. I might have crossed the escape line, but I destroyed a SU47 and then it said Mission Complete so I'm assuming I did it. Took a few attempts though.

Oh, also I heard a few great lines I've never heard before.

Grimm: "I missed! Damn, I suck!"

Edge: "Special Weapons reserve depleted".
>>
>>164343003
You'll know you did it if you get an S-rank.
>>
Hm, can I check the rank if I already skipped to the cutscene?

The F-4 was an A2A contender until the MiG-29/Su-27 debuted.

Despite the plane being known for not having a gun, the Phantom II has the world's only supersonic gun kill.

It's still a good ground attack aircraft.

Yeah, I agree with you. It was a good plane for a long time, but considering the lineup in most Ace Combats, it's not really relevant.

On Wednesday, figures divulged by defence minister A.K. Antony in Parliament reinforced in numerical terms how the ageing Soviet-era fleet had shockingly been on a wing and a prayer for such a long period but still not grounded.
The Rajya Sabha was informed that over the past 40 years, India had lost more than half of its MiG combat fleet of 872 aircraft. The minister disclosed that "482 MiG aircraft accidents took place till April 19, 2012".
>>
>>164350836
Supposedly the IAF trains a lot more intensely than other airforces (though I kinda doubt that), but how the FUCK do you lose nearly 500 aircraft in 40 years? How do you lose an aircraft every month?
>>
Austrian airforce is also a joke.

On any given day, just three Typhoons are combat-ready with pilots and weapons—and only between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Their operating budget allows for a combined 180 minutes of flying per day within those business hours.
