DBD is obviously a lot less janky because it's a released game rather than a beta. There are still some bugs, but not nearly as many as F13.

Killers has less killing power but far more chasing power in DBD than in F13. All killers walk faster than survivors' running speed (though some only by a slight degree), but it takes two strikes to down a survivor, and once they're down you either have to wait five long minutes for them to bleed out (without letting anyone else heal them, which they can do without items) or hook them on a meat hook, Texas Chainsaw Massacre style. Once hooked, survivors only have so much time before they die, but they can be rescue (but subsequent hooks will reduce the time before they die, with the third hook killing them immediately).

When chasing survivors, killers move faster so it's only a matter of time before they can run them down. Survivors cannot fight killers; they can only buy some time by jumping through windows and dropping barricades.

Killers have no "sense" ability (outside of some limited scenarios when using specific perks or items) and must rely entirely on their own eyes and ears.

Michael Myers is a fairly good choice for beginner killers since his mechanics are relatively straightforward and don't require an in-depth understanding of the game's fine details. He was probably designed to be a gateway drug for the game.

The game was originally designed so that survivors can't communicate with each other and all end up in random matches for balancing reasons; however in the beta people were whining about not being able to play with friends and how this was a deciding factor if they purchase the game; the developers caved in and as with all friend games people used VOIP to get around the zero communication aspect, this lead to people getting significant amounts of information on where they are, where the killer is, what he's doing, if it's safe to unhook or if they should all gen rush.

Today SWF generally means you're going to have a very difficult time because the developers refuse to acknowledge it as a problem because SWF is the majority of players and killers are the minority for reasons listed above.

I dunno if this is weird, but I actually prefer playing as counselors in F13, where as in DbD I dislike playing survivors for the most part (or at least I massively prefer playing killer)

They could have done that for networking testing purposes, or the game could end up having that kind of matchmaking in the end, hard to say.

Gimp. Icons are in the game files, easy as hell to replace. Paint wouldnt work due to no transparency, but you could still switch file names without using any editing program.

What is the hatch? How do you find it? When does it activate?

The hatch is an alternate victory condition for the survivors.

You find it either by finding it early when it's closed, or by listening to the audio cue that you're closeby.

The trapdoor will appear when two generators are activated, and when one survivor is killed. There are items which can open the hatch prematurely, but these are very rare.

The trapdoor will open only when one survivor is left alive.

Well you want to get out pretty fast and hopefully not be the last one alive, if you just camped the hatch as soon as it appeared until you were the last one alive it'd be a dick move to your teammates when you might as well just do generators and get out that way. Well, here's my lvl 31 wraith for comparison. You're kind of missing out on all the cool teachables from other killers, so you're bound to end up with all the perks that are available by default. Also double perks kick in at 25, but if you're unlucky you're probably stuck getting shitty ones anyways. And aftergame salt is just part of the game, live it through. Become the salt.

As a fan of both games, i'll try to be as neutral as possible

+ mostly a game of hide&seek, like a "horror" game should be

- Getting what you want is all luck
- Repetitive, but atleast there's random generated maps

-paid dlc that barely adds anything that you can't try out free

- Moving and mechanics feels clunky and unresponsive at most times. The car controls are the worst
- Costs so goddamn much for a mainly (if not only) multiplayer game
- All the Jason have same abilities
- Jason can't catch people unless they're out of stamina or he corners them. Otherwise it's 100% teleporting / shifting grabs
- Very buggy. VERY!!!
- Likely made for controllers, might explain why keyboard controls are so terrible
- You're forced to wait for the game to finish to get your exp rewards
- If you get found, it's extremely difficult to lose Jason

I'm gonna hold on to the hope that F13 will be good, but I'm not gonna go shit on DbD either, other than their awful balancing choices.

For perks you go into the survivor menu that allows you to select perks, unselect them all. Then hit switch roll and really quickly click the perk you want to get on Killer and you should get it. They reset once you restart. Its the same method to get chainsaw on whoever, got to loadout on survivor and click switch roll, then really quickly click the item slot.

The long answer is:

Skull totems with no fire just give you a handful of bonus points when you destroy them. However, a certain killer's perks are only usable so long as one specific totem (randomly placed on the map) has not been destroyed. This totem will have a small fire burning beneath it and will make a burning noise, and it can be seen through walls by the killer from anywhere on the map.

These killers' perks are very powerful but of course can be shut down just by destroying the totem, making them high-risk and high-reward. If you see a burning totem, you REALLY want to destroy that shit before their perk ruins your day.
