I run banner with Avant and Otohime. It works pretty well. Not having guaranteed banner draw is a drawback, but getting to play banner on curve is pretty rare anyway.

I don't think DShift is a problem as much as I think this game has a huge problem with an over-abundance of 7-3 and worse matchups. There's too many MUs which are just plain unwinnable for one of the decks. DShift just happens to have a lot of these. Both in its favor and against it.

Shitposting apart, Dragon does require more effort to play well. Ramp and discarding are harder to grasp for CCG beginners and face is worthless without Forte.

Sword is the easiest to grasp how the board works, evolve has a lot of value and banner can wreck shit even without gold or legendary cards.

Lower ranks have fewer control/combo decks so it's also the less frustrating type to play. But don't stick to just it, it's the most braindead archetype to play with in the long run, you should try to learn other decks too.

You know, 5 actually isn't a bad amount of top tier archetypes. Rather than balance being very bad, I don't think it is, I think there's a bigger issue with how there's nowhere in the game to play casually except private matches, which're shit in the first place because of how friends do nothing and there ain't any sort of chat lobby.

How would you go about implementing casual matchmaking and stuff? Just make unranked completely random? Divide it into player selected brackets?

LotF is a much more aggressive play, so he will see play in MR shadow.
Khawy on the otherhand is possibly one of the best defensive plays when you're behind as well as a way to basically stop the opponent from gaining moment when you're ahead. He is a godsend for control. His real downside compared to LotF is the lack of a highroll.
