I mean, personally for me the thing that sticks more like a sore thumb about the Avatars, especially Corrin, is that the writers attempted to create an incredibly shaky middle ground between them being a blank slate for the player and having unique character traits that really, really doesn't work. If I was at the helm I'd either go full blank slate and give you dialogue choices or try to make the Avatar a character that people will actually enjoy playing as.
