DQH2 is Ys by Toukiden team. It's a true action RPG. There are a handful of defense missions, but they're relegated to instanced story quests and a few of the multiplayer dungeons. The gameplay's leaps and bounds above too, not just in controls but also customization.

Know what I hate about Ambition mode? On Fame missions, they spread the damn objectives too far out on the map. And the maps alone are probably the biggest flaw in the game. Too little convoluted paths and not enough room for alternating your way through.
