When I bought the Type 59 back then, there were no Chinese tanks in the game.

I've started the Chinese med line much much later and now I'm close to unlocking the T-34-1.

These gents have been sitting in my Type 59 all the time, never been retrained so far. I wonder if I retrain them to 90%, will the T-34-1 grind provide enough XP to surpass their current skill level until I unlock the T-34-2.

Btw, could you please justify why is it the best tier 7 med? I'm interested in its strengths.

Great gun, great mobility, low profile, bunker turret. It excels at all the traits you want in a medium. T-34-2 is meh but only because its more less the 1 thats 5% better. Its got T-32 complex. The rest of the mediums are solid though.

But in the context I meant to emphasise that heavies favour certain terrain and conditions - cover, a bit of distance and secure flanks. As long as they got that, they can deny an area of the map pretty effectively. This funnels mediums into similar engagements in their own favoured terrain. At the later stages of the match, however, after winning their engagements, the heavies must usually leave their comfort zone and fight at yet another disadvantage. Mobility enables fast tanks to nearly always outmaneuver the slower ones and dictate when and where contact and engagements take place, even when they are outnumbered.

The usefulness factor of the heavies drops dramatically after they've dealt with the there heavies. This is sort of what I meant - their purpose is fulfilled and they are not suited for this new situation.

But in your context the game is more less over and decided and surviving heavies are limping around jumping at bushes. Yes, in that situation they are not adapted but thats situational. A healthy tank in the same situation struts around like a cock, rapes your entire gameplan and has to be dealt with immediately.

If you're on side 1.

Side 2 is pretty trash for LT's now with how they've changed the map, while side 1 has ez mode shots into F line city as well as a safe early spotting run.

Even then though, it's not really a good light tank map. You can get damage if you do things properly, sure, but you're not going to get much in the way of spotting damage.

Either way my team binned it in the city despite their heavies losing 1800~ hp with nothing to show for it, and even field only barely came out on top.
It has not been a very good morning.

What I said applied to close games, where 8 or 6 remaining tanks on the map have to decide the game. In a this situation I'd rather favour (and not face against) mobile tanks over slow ones. There's more space on the map, they've go the speed to utilise this. Hell, with proper positioning, they can literally drive circles around the heavy. heavies are unlikely to have come out unscathed from their engagements and on open ground they can't really utilise their strengths. For example, recently I saw a RU single-handedly win against 4 t8-9 enemies. How would a slow tank pull that off while having 35% hp left? The likelihood of getting tracked and flanked/circled is so great.

Light tanks operate on the assumption that they will get one shot at any moment. Heavies have their armor and health to make up for their mobility. Your only using heavy tanks in your example that have already been crippled. If you cripple a light tank in the same extreme such as its engine has been taken out and repair kit is spent, then your light tank isnt going to be preforming many miracles and will also be out of its element. Any tank thats had its strengths taken is not going to be dictating the game.

Take the same two tanks and give them their full power and which one do you want roaming the map at will.

The RU WAS at 35% health. I gave the slow tank the same hp %, duder. And two hits taken in a Ru likely means damaged modules even after using kits. And he still managed to put his strengths - mobility + goodish gun + camo I guess - to work in late game, due to the openness of the map - less tanks means more room and choices - and his ability to choose favourable ground and dictate the pace.

The strengths of the slower tanks were hampered while those of the mobile tank were enhanced by the just the inherent nature of it being the late phase of the match.
