Can someone explain why the cradles have to fly? Wouldn't it be cheaper to stick an artificial habitat on the ground and just plant a bunch of trees?

I'm guessing Kojima Radiation is just that powerful. There's probably a good reason NEXTs aren't normally allowed in Cradle airspace.

Well, if Space Battleship Yamato and an Enviromental Engineering intro course taught me anything, it's that pollutants, especially the really nasty ones like Kojima particles, permeate the soil. It's usually not a fast process, but it just keeps going down and down and down. If they had the ability to make KP-impermeable structures, they would exist. Cradles are inherently cost-ineffective.

How many normals would you need to kill a next
>>
>>163335834
On an open and flat battlefield, about a dozen BFF normals could pull it off with a bit of luck.

In an enclosed space where they can ambush you at point blank, a couple Algebra normals could knock out a next with just a couple punches. Alternatively, they have a good chance in urban fights as long as they have a massive numerical advantage due to their unusually high maneuverability for Normals.

The other corporations are shit out of luck though, unless they're fighting trash NEXTs like Celebrity Ash.

The only normals that could even feasibly stand a chance are those that comprised Silent Avalanche. Every other normal in the game is pure garbage.
>>
>>163355798
They're actually pretty dangerous in those couple snowy/foggy city missions that they appear in. If you let your guard down for a second and stop moving, they can sneak up and pile you to death pretty easily. I mean it's not likely, but in the few scenarios where it's possible at all for Normals to win I'd say the Algebra ones have some of the highest chances. Especially VS a slow and unskilled pilot like Wonderful Body.

>>163360506
But mostly this. And even then they barely count, since they're mostly just long range gun emplacements with a Normal suit strapped to them.

With how shitty it is to be a Normal pilot in the 4 universe, imagine how horrible it has to be getting stuck in an MT. Or worse, getting stuck in one of those missile trucks or a helicopter. Those guys probably get curbstomped by GA's shitty Normals. The second a NEXT appears you're already dead.

It's not just the radiation but the air supply. Above the atmosphere, the Cradles have an unlimited and untainted supply of air and sunlight. On the ground they would need constant filtering and have to likely use kojima reactors for power (no solar) defeating the purpose of avoiding radiation.

Also defense. Because of the satellite weapons any high atmosphere missiles or jets or weapons like that are highly vulnerable to being shot down, leaving only the few, corporation controlled nexts as threats to a cradle that flies. Even arms forts aren't going to be good at fighting in the upper atmosphere, Answerer doesn't float very high.

I never understood why they allowed you to use PA when fighting on the cradles, though.

The real reason to both though? Miyazaki has a fetish for quirky level design and logic be damned when he wants to make a floating platform stage.
>>
>>163335834
>>163337805
AC4 Era nexts could be legitimately threatened by a well-trained normal team (Silent Avalanche, Bharat Squadron). A large enough swarm of Interior normals could pose a threat too, most notoriously when paired with fixed cannons. In AC4, even some of BFF's ships had weapons capable of fighting a next one on one, as long as the next didn't get in close.

But ACFA speed nexts basically need some kind of special weapon to defeat, like the Torus rail cannons or prorotype nexts, or some of the proto-arms forts.

1. I think they just forgot about the non-PA missions in AC4, or maybe they decided those missions were too hard or unbalanced or something. I'm not sure if it would actually be possible to beat Old King without any PA.

2. They may have allowed it because of desperation. When you have 100 million lives at stake, giving 10 million of them cancer isn't such a big deal compared to the alternative.

Not much. I always got the feeling that Wong had a lot of clout within Collared, being an old veteran and not willing to rock the boat. As his favorite student, she probably absorbed some of that status which, combined with her great skill, boosted her to the #2 spot instead of Wynne or Roadie.

If the NEXT was fighting Kojima proofed Normals inside Sphere, it would only take a few of them. Bahrat Squadron could probably do it as well.

Now imagine being in one of those on a base that is under attack and then a allied NEXT comes to save the day, I wouldnt be surprised if NEXT pilots are seen as some kind celebrities on their respective military forces.

>>163373797
>I'm not sure if it would actually be possible to beat Old King without any PA.

I possible, and in any case, they could save those for hard mode if they didnt want to force players on such "difficult" missions.

Wong and any influence that BFF or the Wolcott family have probably help her, Wong doesnt consider her even close to be as good as Mary.

I always wanted a mission were you have to help a traitor to escape and by doing you get a mission to attack a arms fort or a special weapon on its base.

Well, the Official Vagrant Guns Method involves everybody grabbing a TE-stacked heavy, dual Kinfolk (or Knaves, user choice), the head and generator with the highest jamming resistance, some low-output boosters, and the 500 range FCS. And then everybody shoots it and avoids getting slashed until it dies.
If you're by yourself, you can try the Grind Blade method, but that one's a bit of a crapshoot.

Maggy will always be up there with Zinaida for me.

V had more colorful characters like RD and Chief though.

I'd have enjoyed a two-pilot mercenary team where one of them drove a SOBRERO and the other one had a Raiden.
>>
>>163553154
That would have actually been really tough to fight against, provided the stage was right and the Raiden was protected from blades somehow.

The arms forts should've been on the level of Mother Will 2: Electric Boogaloo, from AC: Verdict Day. You know, the big son of a bitch that needs 4 people to take it down, or one really skilled pilot.

Also, my friend Niji from Armored Core Universe once told me that japan had a limited time contest where some people could fight an enhanced Mother Will that had kojima nukes instead of regular missiles. Can anyone confirm if that ever happened?

I heard about the Kojima nuke thing before. I wish I could have a chance to play that.

Let's make he perfect AC gaming using components from previous AC games:

>the music of ACSL
>the difficulty of ACLR
>the environment and setting of AC2
>the cool bosses of AC Silent Line
>the balance of ACLR
>the post game content of ACVD (Those challenge missions were fun)

I liked the concept of ultimate weapons. If they got fixed up a bit to be more useful and usable they could make a fun addition.

Empty boxes. (I'll let you figure out how that's AC related.)

So... long time no AC for me. What all are you playing to scratch that AC itch?

Project Nimbus here, it's a'ight but lacks customization and seems to be in that 'early release' limbo.

Wish From would port an AC to PC, if they'd toss out Last Raven I'd go nuts over that. 4A would be another good one...

I've been playing a lot of Lost Planet 2 again. It's pretty funny how most players don't bother to use Vital Suits, and when they do, they don't learn how to pilot them well and just treat them like temporary powerups. The mech action in Lost Planet is really fun if you know what you're doing. I just wish there were more VS segments instead of so many on foot missions.

>What all are you playing to scratch that AC itch

It's been all over the place as it's more of a general giant robot itch rather than just AC for me. I was bouncing off EDF and trying out Zone of the Enders a few months ago but here's a few that I've been into recently.

>Titanfall 2
Recently grabbed it on PC since it's 50% off and it's genuinely been the most pure fun I've had with a shooter in a long time. I admit that I was avoiding it for a bit and I never played the first one (only slightly because of that one "mech" quote which is misattributed at a second glance anyways), but the mobility system is tons of fun to go fast with on-foot, and the Pilot/Titan gameplay dynamic blends surprisingly well. You basically go from wallrunning into windows to flank some assholes as a parkouring infantryman to these corner-boosting, slightly-more-methodical Titan battles. Balancing and skill level is all over the fucking place though, and some of the maps are shitty for the otherwise top-notch movement system but they're porting more of the TF1 maps which were apparently the bee's knees, so that might be remedied soon.

Only thing to consider is that Respawn was pretty much OG Infinity Ward, so that might turn some people off. I haven't played a fucking Call of Duty game in forever so I honestly don't give a fuck about any comparisons.

>Gundam Breaker 3
The ultimate robot part kitbashing simulator but god don't expect customization or gameplay to be anything like AC. It might look like it at first glance until you realize that it's basically a mix of Diablo and Dynasty Warriors. That said, it's still a damn fine game to just space out in and create the most fucking outlandish MS imaginable and have it kick ass. Pink weapon arm SOBRERO Tanks have nothing on the things you can make in this game.

Anyways, you think Project Nimbus is worth it in its current state? It's on sale, 25% off. It's a damn shame if it's in Early Access limbo though.

Eh, I dunno yet.

Haven't plaged too much yet, got through about half the campaign missions and gave survival a go. It's okay, definitely has the AC4A fast paced combat down and then some... but it feels like there's quite a ways to go still. Survival is kinda whatever, exactly as you expect just shooting down waves which got boring quick.

Still, I don't regret shelling out $15 for it. Good for when I have 20min to spare and just want a quick dose of mecha combat. And maybe one day it'll really turn into something great.
