Male characters don't even get skin gloss, the Skin gloss slider only gives a glow to their skin.
Many of the female NPCs and characters don't have skin gloss either.
Even Zulia doesn't have skin gloss. There's a bit of shine on her boobs, but that's about it, and her massive tits got patched out anyways.

The point is that as new content comes out, the older materials are put into events and shops for newer players to catch up with.

Even if you spent 30,000 gold to get to 850 AP today it would not be worth your time and gold because the endgame dungeons don't offer as much loot.

In addition, you are not necessarily grinding towards your next tier of gear as well.

The upper echelons of gear in Blade and Soul comes from 24-man raids such as the Vortex Temple and Black Skyscraper. Those dungeons are time-limited and will not reward people who used to farm dungeons on a 24/7 basis.

In the end, all your hard work will be outshadowed in 2-3 months by simple events that any plebeian player can do.

If you're having fun that's great. But if you're on the treadmill for max gear, I'm sorry to hear that you feel the need to spend 18 hours of your life everyday trying to raise a single number that represents your e-peen.

Every modern MMO is like this. There will always be a gear cap. The most active players will always stomp the casuals, but at the same time, the devs make sure to not let the gear cap get too discouraging. By throwing the casuals a bone here and there to keep them progressing by making old upgrades cheaper, they can create an illusion that they're not as far behind as they are.

You can't make it so that next year a new player would have to grind a year to be able to do current content. Catch-up mechanisms are vital for an MMO unless you want the population to stagnate and die even faster.

When have the whales ever been shafted so far? Souls could be salvaged. Max accessories could be turned into 600 gold. You always get something for your efforts, apart from the advantage of being at the top and grinding content faster.

It is as you said, some 6-12 months later you always get everything for 25-50% of the original cost. However, while they're now doing Naksun in 30 seconds, you're spending 1,5 minutes on him per run.

you're shaving off maybe 2 minutes off the final boss of a dungeon with great gear compared to mediocre gear
especially when dungeons have layered bosses and lots of walking

I personally welcome the raid progression. If anything, it means that you get to play less per week to get the best gear, and that said gear requires some degree of effort and skill to get. Even currently I feel that 4mans should once again be far more rewarding than they currently are in comparison to 6mans. Back during 45 and early SF, 4mans actually offered a lot more and 6mans were barely worth running. However, seeing as they're removing 6mans altogether and replacing them with a 6man hard mode in KR, I doubt this will change until we get that patch in question.

A proper 24-man raid can't have many freeloaders in it, though in that sense I really hope turtle was not supposed to be an indication of future raid difficulty.

And yes, dungeons do involve a fair bit of walking, and party composition in terms of having SB and blue also matters a lot more than having 25 AP more. Still, by having better gear you're less prone to wiping and can skip mechanics which actually does make killing bosses a lot faster. In the end, though, someone less geared likely plays less in general.

i think that's more about the audience of the game..young kids and central-american countries that can't afford a hamburger much less a credit card to spend on virtual items. and i think most people that are still playing HAVE spent significant money on gold. almost every guild leader of a large guild on mushin and even entire guilds themselves are known extensive gold buyers..
