Every time I see inner shitters get called out for having horrible players with horribly built mechs and blaming it on clans being overpowered, they start falling back to more and more insane excuses like "well it's a lot easier to fuck up your build on an IS mech because there are more bad mechs and because blah blah IS XLs". When the opponents are running optimized metashit, why don't they just look up how to run their own optimized metashit if they don't know. Why are they playing FW if they aren't running optimized metashit. When all the big guys were on IS they were running optimized metashit there too, it's not like the ability to run optimized metashit is somehow magically limited to clan mechs.

I've even seen people saying the game was balanced before the kodiak and the rescaling, when clans had nothing but dogshit assauts and dogshit lights compared to unkillable antman light mechs with a million quirks and laser vomit assaults with insane quirks and perfect mount locations.

Is there anything out there currently that captures the sense of high adventure that the original DOS Mechwarrior had? Or just the general mechanics - travelling all over the place, doing odd jobs for different clans and empires, etc.

The idea is that you're going to dunk at height that the enemy cannot deal with. 63 total damage on connection, even an atlas is going to lose a side torso. And if that fails, you use righty to strip his weapons so that he cannot shoot back.

Depends if you like shooting big robots. MWO has surprisingly gotten better in the past year.

Piggy is a minimally viable company with a few awful executives and their business plan was ridiculous.

That said, they have a great artist who's remade a ton of old school mechs into modern beauties. The actual combat itself is also top notch.

The problem is that the game can get very repetitive, and most of the game modes are more or less identical team deathmatch.

You should still give it a try and form your own opinion since it is just a download.
